Here is Retrieve baby/intermediate level. I decided to post the whole video instead of cutting out the parts that weren’t working,as I realized they were a part of the the training and it provided context. I had just played a little retrieve with both of them, and then realized I should video this for puppy class. So I put her brother up. At the beginning his barking was a huge distraction as you’ll see, but I was happy that I was able to get her back and work her. Her laying down and licking at the end is one of her signs, but I didn’t want to end on that note, which is why I tossed the toy one more time. To end with some tugging. Her brother knows a Hand command, it is one of the most useful commands so I’m working that with Clover and I think she is getting it. But I figure I may be making it too easy because I’m flexing my hand?

We had worked some sit and waits and some running with distractions earlier. I plan to video those outside with more room later. AT the trial this weekend we did some tricks and a slight amount of tugging. In the trial she wasn’t as interested in tugging. She was even able to do some of her tricks for strangers as well.

Here is Stealth Self Control: Puppy Level

I didn’t film the first training session, I should have. You were right they get this FAST. But I did film the second training session, and then threw in some of the trick we learned that were in another lesson. I forgot which one.

We are also working on gimme your collar. However, she doesn’t wear a collar in the house. Is it okay to just touch her neck and keep it there, then reward? I’ll practice the gimme your collar on our walks every day. This one is also great for my two year old, as he really shuts down when you grab his collar so we are doing it with him as well.

Sorry for the multiple emails. I’m out of town for work for the next three days so wanted to get some training in. The videos this weekend will be working in stressful environment. She is tagging along to her brothers agility trial 😉

Here is our first try at shaping back up.

And, yes I realize I should have picked up all the toys before training. I just completely spaced it. I really want to get this one down, as I’m having to go back and retrain my two year old on this as well. So I’m using the same technique with him. (Thank you!)

I have noticed her default setting when she doesn’t understand something is to lie down. Then paw at it. She is still learning to tug, she has some puppy teeth left. I went gentle on the toy action as she had lost a tooth this morning and there was some bleeding.

    Hopefully, the link works!
