Finding something for goat games has been a challenge. He climbs on everything! I settled on two things – one that squishes and one that moves. Didn’t bother him at all, though getting all feet on at once was tough.

Stealth self control – first try. He wanted to stand on the babywipe box and thought about peeing on the tripod.

Wing wrap – he had to figure some stuff out at the end.

Prop games – parallel path –
I did change props on him since the grey hat was blending in. We need to build more value but he was getting it. Also, my mechanics aren’t great.
    We also went straight into
Drive to handler with front crosses.

I’ve had some technical difficulties. Last week, I learned to look at the videos immediately instead of waiting to process them. Everything from last week (three training days) shifted to slow-mo after 10 seconds. While it’s informative, it’s also pretty tedious. That is resolved thanks to google. Today’s sessions were more productive but I’m disappointed that I only managed to catch on video two of the five things we worked on. Now we can repeat them!
Here is Maui’s Drive to handler

And his first session of Goat tricks.

I struggled to find something he hasn’t had his feet on. Lol. I thought this big cookie sheet might be novel enough but he was on it right away.

I’m also working through everything with Maui’s’ sister Carley and their mother Soji so I’m getting practice.

Just for fun, here are a couple of the videos from last week. Slow mo so they take a while.
    Maui wing wrap with food

Maui wing wrap with toys. This was very hard for him – he isn’t toy motivated. If it seems he was “stickier” on the left toy, he was. He is a pocket toy and had chicken in it earlier. He would have sucked on it if he could have.

EEK! Sorry about the private video. Fixed that. Thank you for your comments. I have some rotisserie chicken drying out a bit so I can use it for the next round of fun! Maui is more of a food dog currently.

Hey! Sorry for the delay – we are catching up!
Here’s Maui’s initial prop target and nose touch.

Here is his first attempt at focus forward.

I stressed him out about playing with the toy so will be using more food than toy for now. Also. Probably way too much talking!

Soooo – I’ve had a bit of struggle with the space and I read that compressing space is better for learning a skill. I’m learning to back off from the jump and sort of pretend to run faster to keep Luc moving. AND I need to work on timing of my FC. However. I did proceed while I KNEW he was locked on the tunnel. SMH. I will grow some patience and wait until he’s focusing forward (and dig back into MaxPup for the focus forward exercise.) I’m very grateful for the compressed space because my own available space is small – less than 30 feet wide.

I’ll have one more practice session tomorrow morning before I leave for the Albuquerque agility trial.

Thank you for all the feedback! This is awesome information!

Here are some of the bloopers. He was trying so hard to figure it out in the midst of all that bad information I was giving him. Poor Luc.

This was the most successful of our attempts this morning. After this try, everything became a tunnel so we had to back up and work on verbals.

My brain is having a big internal debate while I’m trying to run my dog. HA!
    – Get moving – pocket ear running!
-but wait, support the line with your arm! (residue from a recent distance seminar)

Recently I just put my hands in the pockets of my training vest during weaves to avoid distracting Luc from his job. Not optimal but seems to work. The beverage idea is awesome! If I carry a toy, which Luc cares NOT at all about, it seems to help (me) as well.

Thank you so much for the great information!

We worked through the first set of handling sequences this morning. I still had disconnection issues and I left them in the videos. Also, I misread map #2 and did the jump backwards – ack.

Running in 4 inches of dry sand isn’t fun but it’s the only flat surface I have here.

Thanks! I was a mess. Lol.
I do give reset cookies during the “squish” or line up. Disconnection is a big problem for me and it bites me at trials with alarming consistency. Luc told me to do better. 🙂

One quick video from yesterday – working on backing up but it’s getting better. I didn’t realize I was creeping forward (!) and we had some equipment failures. Sliding on the floor, less than optimal reward placement, but he is getting it.

Wing-wrap with the barrier. He tried a few different things but finally got it.

…and right you are! Backing up 1.2 was more successful but holy heck! My timing! More work on that is necessary!

We also revisited Pre-game 2 and it was also more successful. This time a mouth click helped with my timing. AND – a quiet, less distracting environment.

Thank you for such detailed assessments! SOOO much help!

Thank you for your feedback! It occurred to me later that Maui loves personal play. I tried that and it seemed to be a good thing. I did the cookie lure and also threw the “off” cookie slowly so he could track it. Dark Cookie to the light sand.

Then we moved on to backing up. That was a mess initially. He went through and turned around smh. I tried to make catch him and throw the cookie back between his legs. Maybe worked?
