ParticipantNo trial videos but I have one from agility class last week.
This is a good example of Mali’s behavior jumping up and biting me.
We did have a bad moment when she jumped off the Aframe – I was proud of her quick recovery from what could have been a scary shutdown.Our last platform training session:

ParticipantI misread your instructions and waited longer to offer a treat; but I did sit on the floor with her and placed treat in the same location.
I will tape a short session where I offer a treat every 2 seconds.Life has been busy for Mali as we had entered several trials prior to signing up for this class.
Mali entered her first AKC rally trial and earned a Q with score of 81 pts. This was in a large sports plex with a seperate area for rally and obed. Walking her from the agility rings on a harness while she attacked the 6 foot leash, I just kept focusing on her behavior stopping frequently to ask for any trick she was able to perform. Once in the rally ring we sat quietly for ear massage while she sat between my knees and she was able to settle and switch to a 4 ft leash on collar with no frantic behavior.This past weekend was CPE scent trial in a new location – very large building with all outside searches in the wind (this usually makes her a bit high.)
She had 4 searches at a higher level, Q’d in all and was totally focused on her task. She even eagerly followed the judge and ring steward as we moved from exterior area to the vehicle area. No grapping at the long line.October 2, 2022 at 6:41 pm in reply to: Denise Baker & Mali – 16 month mini schnauzer, working spot #41218Denise Baker

ParticipantMali working sit stay on table
Just because the 2 olders dogs were crying for a chance to play – all 3 minis on table. They stayed in place for over a minute until I released them.

ParticipantYes, I have worked on relaxation conditioning with Mali. Actually, since I learned this method from you in a 2019 class “Confident Canines: Igniting Your Dog’s Confidence To Build Focus And Drive In Any Sport”. It worked so well with Lit’l Bit (she was shutting down and not moving) I used it with Mali in her puppy obedience classes. Mali is scared of people but not other dogs. She would stay on a mat instead of standing with a loose lead – while we waited our turn in class.
Do you want video of the mat work? If so, how much video?
I will start taping sessions for my own review this week and then have my granddaughter work with Mali next week.Will post a video tonight of Mali in sit-stay behavior.
thank you,

ParticipantFirst video is Mali in the house hanging out in the kitchen alone. Then my granddaughter comes into the kitchen ignoring her and the barking and agressive behavior (this episode is rather mild.) Mali has starting nipping the teenagers. After a period of quiet, same granddaughter comes back into the kitchen and Mali does her “stranger danger” routine. This ended quickly this time (I swear it is because I am filming her.) I included the ice maker scene because this used to make Mali over the top with barking and lunging. I then started to use the ice maker frequently each day and giving all teh dogs ice chips. Now Mali rarely barks at the sound.
Second video is an example of Mali’s behavior when she has to wait. I kept her waiting on the back porch while I was setting up some rally cones and the other 2 dogs were in the yard with me. Although you can’t see her through the screen, she is repeatly jumping 3-4 feet up against the screen door. This video shows her jumping up and biting at my chest until she is settled.
thank you,

ParticipantLive camp #4
Sequence A with Mali (16 months now)
Sequence B with Lit’l Bit
Sequence C with Mali (I purposely left in the beginning clip where Mali is jumping on me – any ideas to help stop this behavior would be appreciated. She has improved – at least we have the beginning of a start line stay)

ParticipantWeek 1 exercises:
Exercise 1 & 2:
Oh the joy of running a young dog! Mali (15 months old) is running exercise 1 & 2. Still working on start line stays and dog running a straight line. In watching our video, I do see a better commitment in the line from #1 to #3 which is an improvement.
Lit’l Bit exercise 3 & 4:
Unfortunately I forgot to start the camera on our first and 2nd set of #3 & 4 exercises. It was too warm last night to run everything again, so I just ran her once in exercise 4. Very pleased with her commitment to jump #9 with the wrap.

ParticipantI will be there – thanks

ParticipantThanks for the feedback – I am reviewing my agility verbal list and including obstacle commands, rally moves and scent work to make sure my commands sound as different as possible. Will probable change right wrap to something different as “tight” and “right” are too similar.
Will ask these questions tonight in the wrap up class but throwing them out now as well:
How do you teach an “IN” command where I want a dog to ignore the front facing side of the bar, by pass the jump and then switch leads to take the jump? This is my best explanation of the move. Learned it in a seminar last year and it worked well sometimes so I know we need some foundation steps to make it clear.
I also use a “connection verbal” on course so the dog will watch me for an upcoming turn which is a soft “tsssss” sound. So far this has worked well for me when I remember to use it.
thanks,
Denise Baker
ParticipantWilder is Back!!!
Our list of verbals for these exercises:
Left = left
Right = right
Dig = left wrap
Tight = right wrap
Push = backside slice
Back = backside circle wrap
Go = go straight and don’t look at me for directionsSerpentines Part 1
Backside slices: (this remains Wilder’s biggest challenge – any “baby steps” I should practice?
GO for balance
Backside circle wrap (first time naming the backside wrap with a different word)
thanks Tracy

ParticipantWeek 2 – Soft Turns
Lit’l Bit is stepping in for these exercises (Wilder has doggie flu.)We have small area to practice at home – renting ring this weekend and hope to get some practice outside as well.
Soft turns on Wing
I had to target past the 2nd jump to “engage” the 2nd jump, but after that on the right turns Lit’l Bit continued to go straight. When I targeted right turn after 1st jump she got it and back to turning right.
I noticed that I am turning my shoulders for almost all of the turn jumps with success. In a few my shoulders were straight and she continued to the 2nd jump instead of turning.Soft turns on 2 jumps

ParticipantThanks Tracy – Wilder is excited to be part of the action.
Question: can I add a picture in my posts? I tried cut and paste but it didn’t work.
How do I add a profile picture?thank you,
