    Thanks Tracy –
    Notes to self:
    pump my arms when running
hide toy when running to not distract dog
turn sooner on wraps (jump standard and barrels)
Use jump bumps instead of bars

Verbal: I’m struggling with barrels and verbals. I feel going around a barrel needs a command but really don’t like AROUND as it can’t be repeated and it takes too long to say it. I use this in rally when I want the dog to independently move around (wrap) me. An agility instructor suggested I use the same word for backside wraps – no specific direction.
Suggestions? I can figure out words to use but should I use a different verbal on barrels or use my Left and Right 90 degree turns?

thanks for the feedback: tunnel threadles release work – I was questioning the use of a RELEASE word or just use the obstacle or handling cue “Close”. She is struggling with turning right on threadles. I didn’t include those videos but she just stopped forward motion after turning and would not enter the tunnels; so I added back the tunnel cue and then tried to fade it. An area to work on…
next week I plan to setup Minny Pinny at our training center and work it with more distance.

I have our first 2 videos included working in a larger space – we practiced after our agility foundation class. I’m not allowed to move equipment so working in the setup that exists – so much fun to play with her in a larger space.

Rocking Horse Part 2 – we ran this several times and variations. Only once did she pull up short and not wrap the barrel – I needed 1 more step for commitment. She likes barrel work.

Tunnels, wraps and backsides – first time outside of my living room practicing wraps and backsides. She was having fun!

    thanks Tracy for the feedback:
My tunnel threadle cue is “close” – when I remember the correct word!
Here is our 2nd tunnel threadle video.

Minny Pinny game (no jump bumps)

Minny Pinny game with jump bumps – I think she is starting to look good over the jump bumps.

Tunnel discrim work – she prefers turning left. Hope I earn extra points for wiping down my 10′ training tunnel and bringing it into our living room. I have to train quietly so as not to disturb the family. Winter time training – we do what we love!

    Perch work

    Strike a pose (progression)

    Adding jump uprights

I noticed the value of touching the card in my hand quickly disappears as we move through these exercises. I’ve gone back to rewarding on the card when we practice without any props. Other suggestions? Thanks

Plankrobatics – such happy little feet (she is a bundle of energy)

Start Line Stays – This technique is showing success without the battle; thank you!

    Thanks Tracy,
using the cookie toss back is working well.

    Drive ahead and focus forward

Drive ahead – added distance (first toy was not as exciting, switched back to fur toy)

    Week 4 exercises:

Wilder and I still struggle with BC wraps. We have made tremendous success this year on other skills (backsides, and turning cues…). Any advice to tweak what I am doing with him? Thank you.

    Build the skill:

    Backside and Wrap sequences:

Go Lines sequences: (Lit’l Bit wanted to play as well – her runs are at the end of video. She smoked her mama…she looks very happy.) Went to agility practice session yesterday and she did the same thing. I need to rely on our sends and leave much sooner with this speed). At the end of each GO line sequence I was not able to get down the line soon enough to send her to the correct tunnel.

Really enjoyed this class – thank you so much!

Corrected settings – you should be able to view now:

I did a late FC here and threw out my opposite arm after #6 to keep him on the line to left tunnel entrance – it works but I try to not use it

“2nd full run – at :34, he had a good line up to the tunnel, just needed one more step of motion to support commitment. He knew you were leaving and wasn’t sure if he should go take the tunnel.”

I agree with your comment – one problem we have is he does not like to repeat the same sequence over and over again. When we are working on these skills all the sets start the same and he just starts to shut down. So sometimes I just start in another place and move into the skill we are trying to learn.
Weather is always a problem (same for everyone I’m sure.) With commuting and time change I have very little daylight to practice so I have to do more in 1 session than I want to. He likes the night time practice but the lighting is not the best.

    Week 3 – Longer Sequences

    Sequence 1
I struggled with keeping up the bar during my blind crosses. Attempt 3 I wanted to front cross but was too late. Attempt 4 I disconnected during the blind cross to move further over on the landing side of jump #3 and continued to keep moving – Success. Your thoughts on why he was knocking the bar?

I did a late FC here and threw out my opposite arm after #6 to keep him on the line to left tunnen entrance – it works but I try to not use it

3 tries on this one – sneaky backside jump @ #6

I’m laughing – what is being “swooshy” or “swoosh to landing”? That is a new one for me – too much arms?

So of the 3 types of connection for turns: look at dog’s eyes, look at hand on take off side of jump or look at the landing side after jump, I should be looking at his eyes?

    thank you,

Shifting Connection Find the 4 Game with Wilder

was trying lateral distance on some of this and realized how little I am moving (ugh)
Will switch back to running more with him but we finished these just as the rain started yesterday

Thanks Tracey for all the great feedback and the video clip.
I will work harder to drive closer to tunnels so I can show movement on the tunnel exits.
