Participantand even though I wasn’t asking for a stay, I felt his session at home was more focused overall

ParticipantTook your comments. Thought back on our training sessions and what worked and what I could do differently to make a difference.
We trained Saturday with Amy and Annalise. I kept our sessions short and the first few sessions focused on what I thought would have the highest rate of success. A lot of focus on simple stay with varied reinforcement.
The last session was filmed.Today, Sunday, I decided to try a different approach to training in my yard. Instead of letting him roam the yard while I set up, I crated him before and also in between sessions.
I took him out on leash to where we were going to work. It might have been a fluke but…….Carrie Neyland

ParticipantI think you are brilliant! 2 failure period rule now in effect!

ParticipantTwo sessions today separated by 5 hours. Back to square one with not knowing how to stay, forgetting how to serp, rolling on something stinky.
My first exercise- setpoint with moving target. I know- too many failures.
With serp exercise, started backchaining to refresh his memory on a serp.
in between sessions, I thought about what you said with higher arousal level helping his success. So I worked with tugging before starting the first exercise, tried breaking down exercise and in between letting him run a straight tunnel a few times to decompress.
It seemed like we just spun our wheels

ParticipantHe continued to be a good boy all weekend. No video but we made progress on moving target, worked stay interspersed with tugging/release/sit and play with other puppies. This was all done either ringside in between events but with people and dogs around or in the grass and near the picnic tables, Very impressed with his focus and work. We are in that summer afternoon rain pattern so our planned training session today was a no go.

ParticipantSooooooo, did a little stay work this afternoon at the agility trial site. He found his stay!!! At least for today. Think maybe we are feeling a little adolescent this week.🤣

Participantjust found out that, even though Audubon is only 8 mos old, I am unable to use the arena and equipment Thursday night. (I’ll be at a show site). can I hop into tonight’s class if it’s not too full? If it is, I understand.

ParticipantGotcha about the distance from the setpoint jumps. and yes, I was more focused on his stay than my position. Also, I didn’t plan well. Thought the toy I had would be long and fluffy enough but should have brought his other long toy.
The Barking– it was not just Roulez but my training partner’s dogs. We had them in the car but so warm that we had to leave the car windows open. Maybe for now I’ll only train him alone- at home and at the field.
I’ll be my usual enthusiastic reward self next time we play. That was very unlike me

Participantwell tonight he was choosing to wrap!!!
think I needed a larger and longer toy for the setpoint exercise. and he was having a few issues with his stay.

ParticipantHe actually did better than I anticipated!!!! Esp after this past weekend… we did one day of a seminar on Saturday that I was told was puppies/ young dog. I asked specifically if he would be appropriate because we hadnt done any sequencing. “the other dogs are all at about that level”. yea, not. The good parts – his stays were AMAZING, he was eager to work and tug in a new environment and on turf which he had never seen. I guess some of what we did percolated in that baby brain of his and made what we did today very simple and easy.
ps.. I was giving him a cheese ball as/before I took his collar, He is his mother’s son. Looks like I am pulling him off his feet
Carrie Neyland
Participantsince he is still jumping up on me when attempting wraps, should I hold off on the wrap proofing game?
Carrie Neyland
ParticipantA little more work on the moving target game and another session of Smiley Face
