    – about the marker: “yes” is built in already as a ‘look at my hands for the cookie’ marker (it is not entirely intentional yet we all do it

ugh!!! Forgot to use Get it instead of yes!

Storming here tonight so we did indoor work. I had trouble on parallel path getting him to have forward focus.

    Hey Tracy,
    No video this post.

    >>>So to help him look forward after the lap turn to. the prop, the cue hand should be empty so he follows it but doesn’t question if he should look at the<<>>>

My cue hand was empty. You can’t tell from the video, but I believe he was getting distracted by my long sleeve moving at my wrist. Believe it or not, but that was probably the first time he had seen me wear long sleeves and the movement caught his eye.

We worked the prop with me throwing the treat sooner and he shifted his focus forward pretty quickly.

Yesterday, I took him to practice in a new place with a few friends. In between the “big” dogs working, he had a few turns working lap turns, parallel path, turn and burn. He did awesome even though my friend had her 1 yr old pup on a leash near where we were working.

We also let them have a couple of off leash sessions of play. Intermittent recalls with treat and release back to play– He ROCKED it!!!!! A few times you could tell it took him a second to process it before he would start running to me and other times where he immediately ran to me. Best part of the day- besides watching how cute they were playing.

    Will get some video today.

Still a little too verbal on my part. Who’d a thunk?🤣 Working on cleaning up my verbal markers.

    >>>>I think you can also use a charlie bear or something light in color but less exciting than cheese in this<<<< He had been having some tummy issues so have been using mostly cheese. Tonight I used a lighter colored kibble. We had a few cookies that had to be hunted down.
Backing up– going slow.. but getting a few steps back.

Sorry about the last video glitches. Hoping tonight’s is better

Lap turns- he had an easier time turning right. Imagine that!

Jamie helped me this afternoon with backing up and think we made some progress.

I apologize – put both of our work sessions in one video.

    Lap turns and backing up.

Most happy with how it is getting easier to move him from cheese to tug! Yes, I have to work at it but… he’s doing it.

plankrobatics- Video fail!!! But he did great. my plank is pretty short and wider than 12 inches but thought it was a good place to start. Im most happy with how he went from cheese as a reward to tugging.

Backing up- we can work outside tomorrow and I will use expens to see if that helps

No video today — did a short walk, worked with 2 frizzers for retrieve, etc. BUT, I did take each dog out separately for play/work.
Found it made a difference in MY arousal level and the work/play session because my attention wasn’t split.

    >>>> If he is in a stimulating situation, it can be all about him and then you can help him with the arousal regulation. <<<

What is it I can do to help him with his arousal regulation? Definitely a lack of knowledge in this area on my part. It’s something that is a struggle for Roulez and I don’t want to repeat history.

    >>>>>”you also had to learn how to help her manage that high arousal when she was really
    aroused<<<<

Ha! Still working on that! Seems like all of the progress that we had made on her start line has disappeared since pregnancy. The first few times we trialed, not so bad. The last 2 – horrible. Going to UKI next weekend and the plan is train, train, train! To be truthful, there have not been a lot of rules in her life since pregnancy and she needs consistent boundaries. And I think having another dog added to the pack and training , even though it is her pup, has been an adjustment for her.

The humping did come during a high energy play session. Yes, I do need and will start bringing them each outdoors by themselves for play and training. It used to be Tchoup that I worried about hurting him in play, but with the frisbee Roulez goes off the chain

Parallel path and countermotion. I wanted to do in an area where we had more room to move. I tried some without food to avoid the grass distraction but that caused it’s own set of problems.

He did a 180 with thw wobble board! I really ha to work hard to get him to tug after using cheese but I used cheese (higher value treat) since he was more hesitant with wobble board the first session.

So wish we could have gone to Brain Camp!!!!

    Hey Tracy!

I love Audubon and I have to remember he is not Roulez. i.e., she would not be distracted by other items lying in the area.Almost a little freaky how focused she has always been. Not that it’s bad with Audubon, only different.

While Roulez was waiting for me to throw the frisbee this afternoon, Audie mounted her and started humping her. She was so focused on me, she totally ignored him. I took him off of her. When he did it again, I placed him in crate. Should I have done something differently?

Turn and Burn- I did do a few left turn reps at the end. Definitely a righty. https://youtu.be/eE3OqYeOqaU

Send, decel, blind, pivot, accel. At the end, he ran off with the toy. I let him have his moment and very shortly thereafter, he came running back to me with the toy. Yay!!!!!

yes, this type A, want to keep on track, person is trying to keep it balanced and not drive myself nutso by feeling as if Im behind. There is so much for them to learn at this age, as well as ,just being a puppy.

    Thanks for voicing that!

So I managed to be a bad trainer twice in one session!!! I reread the instructions before our session. Forgot to play with the toy first to put in arousal.. although he was pretty aroused because he knew I was in our training room
and then I made the “one more time” mistake and let go of the toy. He caught on pretty quickly– I have been shaping go to a mat.
