ParticipantWe started with our reward markers this am and worked the first part of soft turns with food. My takeaways- she must-have absorbed some of the right and left training I have done and I suck at accurately throwing food rewards- LOL.

ParticipantNo, seriously. I don’t know what happened, but she found her SuperFly cape and is waving it proudly. She’s been a little extra in the pushy department lately. So maybe some impulse control and resetting of boundaries ?
anyway, I also noticed the hiccup and the wider turn on the right. It felt to me that she was eyeing the toy.
Jamie has related how having clear markers has helped Fever. In the past when Roulez has made a grab for the toy, I have stopped motion, she backs off and we continue. When I have used a marker, it has been “get it”. But I also use “get it” when asking them to retrieve an object. I will start transitioning to another reward marker for taking the reward from my hand.

ParticipantAuntie Jamie did a FAB job!!!! I worked Week 1, game 2 at a walk this afternoon, trying to hang more behind as you requested.
Totally forgot I could have done part of game 3 at a walk. Too preoccupied/obsessed with how all of a sudden, for the last several weeks, our RDW has fallen completely apart
Anyway, still limited to a walk for a few more days. Here’s our work from today-

ParticipantSooooo, I’m not supposed to run/twist for a few more days. ( had my knee injected with prp/gel)Jamie worked her for me today on the 2 jumps and the wing.

ParticipantYes, I caught myself saying Oh no because I heard her clip the bar. I realized what I had done. I did then give her the toy, but that part was edited out of the video.
So how do you define a soft and hard turn?
At the first part of the session, she was obsessing on the frisbee on the ground causing her to go wide.

Participant***** “I don’t see a ‘soft’ left or right on the jump or tunnel exit but I am guessing that is because you mentioned above that you don’t feel they are fully taught ” *******
Hmmmm, good stuff to think about. I haven’t named soft or hard turns at jumps/tunnels because I haven’t trained them. I WISH I had both. How to define/differentiate them is something that I am not clear on. I’ve also thought about teaching a verbal for 180*’s. Do you think that is something that would be useful?
******”Do you mean on the flat, like she is facing forward next to you and spins in a circle to the left or right?”*****
Yes, on the flat – in front of me, next to me,etc. The puppy will be taught lefts and rights on a cone/wing.😃
This afternoon, we started on the wing and then moved onto 2 jumps.

ParticipantCurrent Verbals
Check- wrap wing/tunnel to her right
Dig- wrap wing/tunnel to her left
Push- backside slice
Seek- backside wrap
In- threadle slice
zip- threadle wrap
here- tunnel threadle
twee- soft turn right off of the dw
spah- soft turn left off of the dw
twist- hard turn right off of the dw
spin- hard turn left off of the dwI taught and used spin and twist as a left or right 360* turn. I’ve gone back and forth since training the dw, and discussed with the instructor at the time, whether using spin and twist would muddle the cue. I know some people teach left and right using spins in either direction, so?!?!?!?

ParticipantRights and lefts!😳 I’ve tried several times and methods — she seems to guess. I haven’t found the key yet.
Actually, all of my verbals need work and proofing. My motion will override my verbals if the verbal will take her off what she perceives as the line.
Yes, I noted the straight head and then correction as well. Next session, I will use FC with a lower bar.

ParticipantWorked only wing wraps today. Did not get edited in time for Zoom meeting. I started with food, but changed to toy pretty quickly. A couple of things I noted- she did not want me to grab her by the collar so some collar grabs might be in line, Also, when turning to the left, she seemed to wrap wing tightly and then drift to the outside. Perhaps,my motion/position?
