Thank you!! I was very happy with our session. Staying at Donna D’s outside Nashville this weekend so I will have the opportunity to get in some work in a new environment.

    Have a great weekend!

gah!!!!! I could not stop spinning or fronting but felt our connection was better.

did ladder grid with treat and train and me sending. I know it’s not how was supposed to be done… but my brain needed something simple.

Agree with all. I can’t help but want to kick myself because this issue with his stays 😕 is fallout from that stupid seminar. There was a lot of frustration there and I was hoping if there was fallout, that it would be temporary.
Apparently there was a huge imprint.

Our session last evening was so bad that I almost did not submit this video. But there were a few nice things. My leaning over and steering with my behind was not one of them! I tried doing the latter grid, but I was by myself and we had several failures with him staying. Later that evening I took him for a walk and asked for a few stays, and used a few different releases. He was perfect so either it’s something with his understanding of doing it in my yard are in front of equipment he knows there is a higher reinforcement history.

Or is this just his adolescence or do I need to work stays in a different way or in a different environment or as you said before try not to do them at all right now in the face of equipment after he has a few failures

Felt like we had a good training session tonight. A few different friends came to train and he did well.

Work minny Pinny, moving target, send ‘n serp.

    >>>>>looking really good! You can totally use a toy for this too, so he can drive back for tugging. The cookies will be good for lining up at your side, for a smoother start<<<<<<

It was soooo hot that I was trying to preserve his energy by limited tugging. We are baking already! Thought cookies would be less energy extending. Ended up with short tug sessions in between exercises.

    >>>> start all reps, even the easy ones, with a finger on his collar so you can say left or right 3 or 4 times before you let go and <<<<

ugh, WHY can I not remember that?

    Thank you!!

Ha!! Dropped my Manners minder this weekend and not functioning😫. I have it partially disassembled and trying to figure out what is broken.
Signed up for MaxPup3 working spot, and the registration form for live classes. Hope I did it

Thanks Tracy!! It’s partly serious intent to have a solid start line this go round and partly because, except for rare instances, I am training solo. Need to figure out where and when I can do a backward cookie toss instead of a stay.

I’ll keep that adolescent brain in mind when training. Thank you 😊

and even though I wasn’t asking for a stay, I felt his session at home was more focused overall

Took your comments. Thought back on our training sessions and what worked and what I could do differently to make a difference.

We trained Saturday with Amy and Annalise. I kept our sessions short and the first few sessions focused on what I thought would have the highest rate of success. A lot of focus on simple stay with varied reinforcement.
    The last session was filmed.

Today, Sunday, I decided to try a different approach to training in my yard. Instead of letting him roam the yard while I set up, I crated him before and also in between sessions.
I took him out on leash to where we were going to work. It might have been a fluke but…….

Two sessions today separated by 5 hours. Back to square one with not knowing how to stay, forgetting how to serp, rolling on something stinky.

My first exercise- setpoint with moving target. I know- too many failures.

With serp exercise, started backchaining to refresh his memory on a serp.

in between sessions, I thought about what you said with higher arousal level helping his success. So I worked with tugging before starting the first exercise, tried breaking down exercise and in between letting him run a straight tunnel a few times to decompress.

It seemed like we just spun our wheels
