    Thanks, Elizabeth!
That was Kaladin who was in MaxPup the summer of June 2020 during the height of the pandemic. All the MaxPup work set him up for where he is at today

    Send & Serp -3/26/24

Did a Send & serp session on Monday where I worked the jump at an angle and started flattening it. This is the 2nd session which was yesterday where it gets to flat. I found that I needed to pause on the FC wrap to make sure I had her head so am trying to focus on the connection while still moving slowly through the wrap.

I think the roads will be fine for travel tomorrow even though it’s still rather sloppy here. Looks like Chicago got mostly rain.

    Mini Pinny Proofing – 3/25/24
    Still a rightie!

Oh -good idea to tuck the pet tutor behind a wing. Her target actually is 2 small pieces of wood that are each entirely wrapped in a yoga mat and the have a longer yoga mat strip over the 2 of them. So it’s slightly raised. But we just got about 8-10in of really wet snow so no more outdoor training for a bit unless it melts while I’m at the Invitational.

Collar grab games with both toy and cheese are going well. If I pause with my hand out she will take a step nearer to get me to toss the reward. Not pushing hard into my hand but she is a Sheltie and doesn’t want to mess up her floof. (what she has of it)

    Find the Jump – 3/24/24

Lift got to hang out at the UKI trial yesterday when not playing collar grab games or wrestling with Terry Pertile’s 4-month old Papillon. Today she rocked finding the jump at Fusion. Jump is about 10-11ft from the tunnel.

We had set this aside for about a month. She was feeling a bit leapy today but did have some nice hits too. I’m also able to send from further away from the wing wrap.

    Send & Serp – 3/21/24
Made turning left even harder by forgetting to use her “left” verbal. Whoops! Did the dig-dig left wrap pretty well though. Was able to keep in motion through the serp by the end. Had turned the camera off but she did some reverse retrieves with a toy after this.

Happy Collar Touch & Shaping Collar Grab – 3/21/24
Did a short shaping collar grab with tossed cheese in the morning before these lunch time videos. Short break between the toy games and then the shaping. Plus got some extra shaping since I forgot to hit the record button on the first session after the toy games.
I know you said it’s not a problem to get a nose touch when you put your hand near their neck. Does the dog just start to realize that if your hand is closer to their neck it’s the collar grab?

    Proofing Wraps – 3/19/24
Hadn’t done this for a week but she says easy peasy about the discrimination (minus one tunnel where I really didn’t step towards the tunnel much so she wrapped instead) just as long as she gets treats (after 1 toy rep) and barely touch her collar. She was getting a treat to line up each time (also for her outdoor setpoint a few days ago even if it was hard to see it). I’ll have to go find that bigger jump bump in the shed before we get snow later this week

    Set Point -3/17/24
First set point outside (sadly the weather remembered it was MN in March and over compensated so was in the upper 20s – but yay for new car with heated steering wheel!). Started at 3ft and then tried about 3.5ft. Had some feelings about lining up. I’ve been using the treat to help with the toy release and using it to get her lined up and then giving it to her and asking for the sit after the treat. This was after a short trip to On the Run for Kaladin to run on the new turf at their fun run (really nice stuff – we both approve). Lift got to hang out after he was done, meet a 7mo Klee Kai puppy and do some tricks on the turf by the warm up jump.

    Tunnel Exits – 3/16/24
Forgot to post this one yesterday. We haven’t done very many minny pinnys but I was impressed to see her turn correctly when I did cue before the tunnel. Had an issue with the Go where I think I wasn’t quite connected enough coming out of the tunnel and then pulled off the wing too soon on the cross. Then she had big feelings. Took a short break and came back for one more shot using cheese which worked better

    Wind in Hair – 3/16/24
Did an easy game with cheese after she had chilled in the car while Kaladin got to play. Seems fine with me running more but I think my timing with throwing is better with a toy.

Kaladin has a fun run on the new OTR turf this looks afternoon so Lift will get to tag along.

Set Point with moving target – 3/14/24

The moving target work on its own has been going well so I put it together with the set point today. She did want to swap out to a different toy that didn’t dangle to the ground but it does seem to help her actually bounce through the set point better. (3ft distance)

I’ll try tossing the toy as she gets closer to me the next time I do the pill bug. Should I toss it on the line she is coming in on or toss on the curve around the pillbug? It’s going back down into the 30s/40s for the next few days but it is definitely crazy weather.

    Pill Bug – 3/13/24

Dug my other tunnel out of the shed and got a vari-colored pill bug with a 15 and 10ft tunnel. Happy with how she worked outside and went from tossed cheese to a toy. Had a moment where she was thinking about whether she wanted the toy or not, but no leaping lemur moments so yay. She does slow up a bit as she is getting closer to me, but I’m chalking that up to thinking about the whole thing. I thought about tossing the toy for her to drive past to get it, but figured I would stick with the baby exercise and reward with toy in my hand for now.

Moving Target is coming along nicely inside.

    Proofing Wraps – 3/11/24
We did a short (un-video-ed) session over lunch with the moving target using roadkill raccoon as a moderate value toy and it went quite well. “RR” dangles down but doesn’t quite drag on the floor and she did really well releasing on the grab it or catch (thrown back).

I debated doing the wrap proofing before dinner after the last 2 days of running & thinking but decided to try it inside since tomorrow is likely going to be a very light day for her due to my schedule. She found going to the right easier than the left from the Live session. Should have ended it sooner but I think we can say you’re right about food being the better go-to if it gets hard.

She got to run around in the backyard with Kaladin after this.

    Smiley Face – 3/9/24
This was from yesterday in 2 sessions. Had a poprocks episode when I asked for too much. I think both in # of things and the soft turn around the wing. Should I be using a right cue for the soft right turn. Not sure how strong that is yet but it occurred to me that she is used to a wrap cue so if I don’t say anything she’s like “what are we doing you hooman?” I am having a hard time remembering to keep the connection with her when I think she is locked onto the tunnel but really isn’t.

For the wrap Cues, should I mix up a FC and a Post turn for when I move?

    Smiley Face – 3/10/24
And from Sunday: Started off with the toy at Fusion and then almost had a full blown pop rocks episode when I closed my shoulder towards the wing and she cut behind me. Switched to food and shorter sequences and that made her happy again – even got a race track going which has been harder for her before.

    Wrap Cues – 3/10/24
Took a short break and then did this session using cheese. She had feelings about my holding her collar to start so I dropped that since she is sending from a bit further away.

    Wind in Hair – 3/8/24
She’s been kinda bonkers when she isn’t napping but she was excited about playing outside once she got to pick her toy. She thinks this game is more fun with more space. I was so happy she was doing so well outside that I forgot to add the “go”. And she clearly doesn’t need the larger 2in high (4in diameter) jump bumps based on how she is sailing over the 1in high (2in diameter) ones.

    Wrap Cues -3/8/24
She didn’t want to stop tugging after her short Wind in Hair session so I decided to see what she would do with the pre-game. I was pretty sure she would nail it so didn’t start right up by the wing. Other than me flailing around with the toys I like how this went.

And I packed her new Agility leash away after she posed for the picture with lots of treats. Figured I don’t want her getting any weird associations with it while she’s going through her “my harness is lava” stage.
