Should I be using a verbal cue based on which direction he is wrapping?
I realized I wasn’t using both hands to turn him in the tandem turns. I was trying to figure out what to do with the hand with the toy.

Getting that arm and shoulder back really helped him. Even when I flattened the angle, I didn’t feel like he was going to pop to the back.Julie Heller
ParticipantSo it says the pre requisite is her foundations class. Any chance she is offering that anytime? Wondering if the RDW one she is offering will ne too advanced for us.

ParticipantTracy,
Will Jordan’s running contact class show up on the A-U site under current courses? I am interested in that even though it is likely MN will still have snow outside towards the end of it.

Ok this is weird. This is take 3 for posting this. I thought I had put the first one in an earlier MaxPup forum by accident, but I know I posted here last night and I don’t see it anywhere.1/2/21
After slowing down to make sure he came over the jump on the first rep, he was rocking coming in over the jump. The problem we had was him popping out to take the wind jump backwards, esp when he was coming in to my right hand. Watching the video I think I wasn’t doing a good job of getting the right hand/arm back.
After a short break I decided to try some of the serp-tunnel sequences but made the angles easier. He still looks like he is trying to drift out and take then 2nd jump backwards. He sliced it rather too close to the standard on one rep.

Got one where he went to the back of the 2nd jump but then managed to get my shoulders turned more and he did much better.Julie Heller
ParticipantRunning Contacts Foundation – To & Through Mat – 1/3/21
He got the back and forth very quickly. This is the 2nd session of the To & Through
Yesterday in the first session he was thoughtful and sorting things out even when I accidentally triggered the PT as he was coming back to me…twice (he spun around and headed to PT).
Today I had sorted out the PT remote mechanics. He had a few more errors of missing with his hind feet but I felt like he was learning more trying to sort out what I was looking for.

Thanks for the reminder about not starting with a wing wrap. I don’t know what I was thinking yesterday. Much better on the Go today when starting on the tunnel (more speed but he is head checking). Although apparently I was busy saying Go instead of tunnel before I switched to a directional. And I almost fell over him twice when I crowded him too much on the RC and he hesitated. To his credit, he still turned the correct way. The side wings were rather close to the tunnel so that RC angle was pretty extreme. And the time I gave the wrong directional, he turned the direction my motion indicated so good puppy!

Had plenty of room for the length but had to crunch in the side wings. I was so impressed that he did the tunnel entries and exits on those RCs.Julie Heller
ParticipantTeeter – Bang It – 1/1/21
We did a lazy game with an angled plank right before this. He seemed pretty confident with the 2in drop so I think I’ll try working in more arousal next. He’s doing great with his first steps of boiling the frog for the mountain climber.

ParticipantTeeter – Hind End – 12/31/20
Ok – this is going much better now. Did a couple sessions where we tried backing up to the Cato board (plus the backing up to the wobbleboard) and then I did this one soon after the lazy contact game. He still prefers to come on the side to get to 2o2o, but he’s also thinking more about picking up his back feet and backing up.

ParticipantTeeter – Love the Slam – 12/24/20
This was from last week on the 24th. Did 2 sessions with a short break. First one was a louder slam with the wobble board hitting the concrete on 1 side (with a book underneath a first). When I removed the book he started offering to slam it so I went with that and used my crouching/sitting to be a cue that he should back up instead. Then we confirmed that he can slam the wobble board for a toy instead of his beloved Pet Tutor even though he had to think about whether it was worth it to get on and off the board at first. (we started with all on the turf so it was quieter)

ParticipantContacts Lazy Game – 12/31/20
Cropped it out, but we had a short game of tug before I brought out the board. I like how he straightened himself out when he realized the target wasn’t coming out when he was off to the side

ParticipantContacts Lazy Game – 12/29/20
Longer video but I thought it was neat to see the steam coming out of his ears as he worked things out. He seemed to catch on when I remembered to look down at the floor and to move back a bit to give him more space to come off the board. I taught a nose target first but switched to a front paw target when I was sending him to it. I rewarded the nose first since he had finally decided to come off the board. And clearly a rabbit tug wasn’t what he wanted for a break when there was the possibility of treats. I think he would have tugged if I had started moving around but I was feeling lazy. And I’m still laughing at your qualifying comments on slowly boiling a frog.

ParticipantTeeter – Mountain Climber- 12/25/20
Here’s the Christmas edition with the reindeer bandana. Second session with a slightly lowered teeter and he looks more confident, even choosing to hop on from the side after he had at first started to go by the board. Should I continue to work at a lower height to get more speed and confidence from him or slowly move it back up to full height and then work on more speed? And as for his slower performance when going to the right, I think that is relatively new. He had a short puppy massage last week and turned up. He does see Dr Julia in about 2 weeks so I’ll see if she turns up anything.

Did some sends behind me with tossing the toy back (including one premature one). I think his last rep where he chased me out of the wrap was a bit faster sending behind me. -
