    Straight Lines 4 Ways – 12/20/20
Left in the blooper where first I cue dig dig instead of check check for a RC to the right and then almost impale myself on a jump on the way to the tunnel. Good news is he does read my pressure on his line for the RC and he still had a good time. Not sure why I got the front on the first backside slice. Maybe not enough eye contact?

    Teeter – Love the Slam – 12/20/20
We have done limited wobbleboard work due to his wonky hip when he was younger and then playing outside a lot while the weather was nice. Hadn’t done any with the reward off the board and I think he likes it. Going to try part carpet and part hard noisy floor next.

    Motion Override – 12/20/20
He nailed this in the backyard earlier in the day with other dogs milling around but I didn’t have video going. So I tried it later and he started giving me a down or a stand freeze instead of a sit. Then I decided it was too confusing doing this too close to jumps as he went and took one thinking it was the lazy game so we angled the other way and started doing better.

    Timing & Connection – Fluff Crosse – 12/17/20
I spread out the jumps and I’m really happy with his sends and crosses., esp the BCs before the tunnel. I felt a bit late on the FCs, but he was still jumping the pinwheel pointing the right way.

    Teeter – Mountain Climber – 12/15&16/20
We’ve done a little bit with the bang it game (from a few inches off the ground), but nothing much else with the teeter. Clearly he’s not too sure about going up that high on a board that sometimes moves a bit. (I managed the wedge the chair under there a bit differently partway through the 2nd session to improve that). After the first session I was setting up my phone for the plank session and thinking about how I should block off the teeter incase he got in to the basement by himself and then I realized he wasn’t at my feet but at the top of the teeter about 15ft away and wondering why there was no PB on the spoon! There’s now a Costco toilet paper package on the plank which did deter him from trying it unsupervised again. He really wasn’t a fan of me lifting him off but we sorted out how to turn around on the end so he can go back down under his own power.

    Plank Confidence – 12/15 & 12/16/20
Mash up of his first 2 sessions. The travel plank is actually 10in wide. I have a 12in wide DW plank with slats but don’t have the space to set it out while the teeter is assembled. He has done some back and forth and turning around on a plank in his Sports Foundations class. It’s hard for me to get him running in the close confines of the basement.

    Concept Transfer – Lazy Game – 12/12/20
Started with the jumps about 7ft apart and got them to more like 9 ft apart by the end.
First rep – other than taking a while to hunt around for his cheese, it went well.
2nd rep – this was the only one where he missed a jump. I think he thought we were headed off to some other place and really didn’t notice it.
3rd rep – I cropped out 2 nice reps in the video before this – they were uneventful. I like how this one he clearly decides to make the decision to turn out and take the jump
Last rep- He is looking at me as he comes over the first jump but then he re-focuses forward and heads out to the middle jump.

    Winging It – 1 Step Sends & 12/12/20
From the video it sounded like you were using a verbal for the tunnel but not for the wing wraps. We started at about 6ft and went up to 12ft-ish. I feel like he can do more distance but didn’t want to push to much in the first session.
After you made the comment in the last MaxPup about him finding plain jump grids ho hum, I realized he also thinks wrapping a wing to start a course is dullsville. I did an experiment that I posted a day late in the last session testing a wing wrap and a lead out straight or angled approach. He would trot to the tunnel on the wing wrap and galloped in on the lead outs. Such a goofy boy.

    Starfish – 12/1/20
Oh shoot! This one is late, but I just wanted to say that I laughed out loud at your summary of what Kaladin thinks of plain ol’ boring grids, but it got me thinking and I realized that another thing he thinks is dullsville is starting a game with sending to a warp/turn around a standard. So here’s a starfish session where I thought I’d test that out more.
First rep I led out on line to tunnel – pretty fast off the line and he moved in to the later wraps well
2nd rep – played tug for a bit after first rep and moved right in to starting with a wrap and at first he didn’t unstick from me and then did at a leisurely trot, only picking up speed after the wrap and the tunnel (then I had a really late blind on the far jump and completely lost him behind me in to the tunnel. Whoops!)
Started 1 rep with a 90deg-ish turn around a standard to the tunnel and he was ho hum heading to the first tunnel
Started another rep with a slight turn in to the tunnel, but not a turn around a standard and he was faster off the line again.
    Such an interesting puppy dude!

Set Point at 12in & Bounce Grid with Tunnel – 11/28/20
I set his 6in grid at a 6ft distance since he’s got the tunnel or the barrel on either side. I was so excited at his tandem turn around the barrel!
Then I went back to the 12in set point to make sure he still looked balanced over that after the excitement of the tunnel.

You recommended doing the progressive grid with different intervals. First 9 and 12 ft. Would that be a 5ft-9ft-12ft spacing? I think he’s going to short stride the 9ft one. Then how does the 15ft come in? (assuming that should be an extended stride) – 5ft-9ft-15ft? (hope it’s not 5-12-15 or I’m going to start running out of yard)

    Zig Zag – 11/23/20
Worked on this a bit in the last month but mostly I just gave it a rest. He is single striding nicely at the 4in height. Had to sort things out when I tried 6in but the 2nd rep at 6 looked pretty good.

    Accordian Grid – 11/21/20
Led out to the Pet Tutor and triggered it sooner for the first 4 reps and then added some movement on his last rep and he didn’t seem affected by it. He’s launching up more to clear the last jump in the 8ft bounce but he is confidently going for the bounce

    Backside Proofing- 11/19/20
This was from Thursday. I Started tossing the toy sooner for the backside serps and then he decided the tug toy landing on the ground wasn’t too exciting and stopped to stare at it

Then I took a break to play with Min and ended up mixing the serp proofing and the wrap proofing in to a new game. So had to try that with Kaladin too. I like how the tunnel adds to his speed going up the line to the backside.

For a left wrap cue: check-check is my wrap right. Min sort of has a diga-diga for a 180 turn but I don’t use it much and am not sure I want to bother training it for Kaladin. I can’t remember being in a situation when I needed it to distinguish between 180 and a softer left or right. If I don’t need a diga I could make dig dig the left wrap. Or I might go with Kiri-kiri (left in Malay. Zuo in Mandarin is a 3rd tone which is drawn out and it would bother me that I am getting the tone wrong when saying it quickly. I haven’t retained much Mandarin since we left Singapore when I was 8 but I can still hear the tones and it bothers me if those are qrong). I’m off to go video to make sure check check, kiri kiri and circle circle are different enough

    Lateral Leadouts – 11/20/20
2 sessions separated by my lunch.
Had 2 failures at first. Not sure I needed the directional cue and maybe it confused him? Maybe my arm was too far up in the air? (Not really sure why it was floating around up there) So I went to the landing side of the jump which was clearer for him and then he remembered this one and started doing some lovely serps.

2nd session I decided to test him and include the tunnel and he was brilliant.

    Starfish – 11/18/20
The tandem turns are feeling better. I even tried some lap turns yesterday, but don’t have that video edited. I tried running him by a tunnel opening with him on the outside and he aced that. When I went from wing to wing with him between me and the tunnel he surprised me by flicking away and in to the tunnel. I had started to look forward but I thought if anything he’d duck behind me the other way because of that. Guess the tunnel has lots of value!

And I decided wrap-wrap (for a left wrap) is too close to right-right so I’m in search of another word or sound to use. Considering back-back.
