MemberTracy- There is so much great info here and Sadie is LOVING her games. this is sort of unrelated to puppy camp but how do I stop her from jumping on people? She jumps up on everyone that comes to the door, but the worst was I had a visitor over the other day and she came charging in thrilled with the prospect of a new friend! She jumped on the couch (with wet feet), climbed on my visitor and was licking her which was NOT appreciated by my guest in the least. Sadie is harmless, but at that moment it was very awkward. She was not listening to commands and I ended up physically removing her to rescue my guest and put her in the laundry room.
Secondly- Sadie is doing quite well with her games but how often do you revisit past beginner level games or do you? She is hilarious as soon as she sees me getting her targets/props she gets so excited like she is getting ready to leave for a long awaited vacation or something.

MemberI started using cheerios as suggested, but I don’t think she cares, any treat seems to be motivation for her. She would sell her soul for a treat! She also LOVES the duck jerky from Costco. I’m now using a combination of the two.
So I have slowed things down A LOT when working with the target “get-it” pre-game one.
I tell Sadie to “get-it” and then just wait with no interaction except looking at the target. The first couple of times were hilarious. She circled, whimpered, climbed on me, and circled around for at least 1 minute or more. then she sat down with a sad little whine and moved forward and actually touched the target. YAY! good job. two more rounds of this and then it started taking less time and not as vocal on her part. we are calling it a success and we’ll see what tomorrow brings. We haven’t started the games that build off of this one yet.interestingly, she caught onto the nose touch game almost immediately (a large, flat, bright pink lego), so I think I will start with that one tomorrow and see if it helps her to connect the dots on the first one. She also caught on to the drive forward/focus game almost instantly, but we have basically been playing that game for fun for a while.
The other games are doing good as well. How long should a training/game session be? There are several to work on but I’m not sure how to break them up or how many to work on in one training session.

Memberanother question: When working on the “get it target” and Sadie sits and stares at me waiting for the treat (with laser focus and nothing will distract her) should I focus on her and repeat the “get it” or sit quiet looking at the target or Sadie? I am trying so hard to get this and it’s not working. She’s a smart dog but there’s a disconnect here somewhere.

Memberokay, so we have been working on the “get it” target but Sadie is so focused on the treat that she isn’t getting it at all. I feel like she just chases the treat and running over the target is only because it’s in her path. We haven’t started on the nose touch thing yet because she hasn’t connected the dots on the first assignment/game. I’m feeling behind and think we might be a hopeless cause.
