ParticipantIf he misses the Weave entry, you can bring him back to the previous jump and try it from there, to begin getting the jump-weaves going in trials.
I didn’t think he could get the weave entry at that point, but sending him over one jump is a good ideahe is jumping with his head up, probably because his brain is processing the environment and the handling, and the jumping form is taking a back seat for now. As he gets more experienced, the jumping form will smooth out and then you can start raising the bars at trials.
I hadn’t noticed that!- was watching him when we did grids last night, will watch/ tape class this week to see if there is a differenceSue Reuss

Here is his FEO from today, really happy with it. The person doing courses this month forgot to incorporate it said she would do this coming week. I will be able to set what you send next weekSue Reuss
ParticipantWill defeniately try the leash and keep the bag. I forget how tall he is LOL
We have one FEO run on Friday. Its at Countryside where we go a lot. Also will be getting him measured weekend of 12/16- its a good measuring judge, May do an FEO and then a novice jumpers. Would like to know if I need to be training for 24- He is definiately borderline when I have measured

ParticipantThe video cut off before you got back to the leash – did he have any trouble getting leashed up? I am guessing he did not have trouble.
No not in the ring- he was tugging hard I put leash on and resumed tugging out of the ring. Where I am having issues is when I through a reward he is not getting back as quickly as I would like- I don’t mind victory laps when training by myself but we are doing more advanced classes and I need him back a little quicker. I have been trying two tug game and rewarding with food. Any other suggestions?Sue Reuss

ParticipantDenise pushed for 4 on so that is what we are doing. That was my mistake, he was going too fast so I went in to slow tip and that caused him to pause

ParticipantThis went well! He thought you wanted him to tug on it at first so you will probably need a cue that says tug on it (I say “bite”) versus a cue to put it on
Yes, he is new to this kind of leash- definally need to put it on command

ParticipantHis only question was the first weave entry – is he pretty solid with weaves in a sequence in training? If so, and he misses a weave entry in NFC, you can go back to the previous obstacle and try it again (with a little less motion from you). If the weaves are a work in progress in training, skip them in a sequence in the NFC run for now and just do them in isolation in the NFC run (and reward like you did).
He can do them in squence but he doesn’t always collect. So i would say it is still a work in progress. I wouldn’t have done them here but he has been pulling to the weaves when I haven’t been asking. -
