The place thing is really Odd! I’ve just been keeping things fun and hopefully she gets over it. She’s also been a little more standoffish with me in the house at the same time it started. Not one reason that I can think of🤷‍♀️. I was wondering hormonal also. She went into her first heat middle of November. I wasn’t really expecting a heat yet though. When she was actually in heat was the best behavioral wise she has ever been🤷‍♀️.

I’m not sure🤷‍♀️. She’s a puzzle lol! She’s my first intact female I’ve had. I’m really thinking I’m going to spay her after her next cycle gets over. I will just need to make sure it won’t have any negative effects of her emotions.

Yes she did not bark at me!!!! Party!!! She was super, super good this session! Maybe me keeping things super fast between reps since I did not do a stay or even collar grab? Thinking about the other class and the discussions there. In between reps is when I lose her.

I thought she did really well with these and this is also the first time she has seen 12 inches!!!

I just sent and went. She’s been kinda weird about her place and her stay the past few days. She is worried about my foot when I move it all of sudden again🤷‍♀️. I stepped on her fur once which was quite a few weeks ago and it made a lasting impression. I don’t think anything happened that brought it back, but she is worried about it for some reason😞. I also noticed that when I pretended to jog and did not have my hand cueing she did much better about jumping up at me after the second wrap😊!!!

Here is the pattern game in an area in my yard she is rarely in. She was super focused on new environment at first, I was happy with her engagement with me😊!

Well, Promise must want me to have full use of this class lol! Yesterday we went to train at the field which takes me about 1 10 mins drive. It was changed up a little bit and I taught my class instead of running her in class first. She was crated in the car during that time period.

Her focus level was not near as good as it had previously been at the field. She was very distracted when she first came out of the car. I gave her about 3 minutes and then I started the training which is on video. Then I tried the weaves and she failed, three times I think? Which frustrated her I believe more than I thought. I think if I would have gone to a simple game after that I would not have gotten the next video. Anyway she helped me out with examples lol!

I did get her focus mostly back after this but her stay was a struggle then. Which always clues me in on her current mindset.

    After weave attempts https://youtu.be/oGXmp6TBbpw
    3rd attempt https://youtu.be/g_0Q1L0SBtk
in between the weaves and this lineup where she runs off I did not use any engagement games sadly. I wish I had read your previous comments before training lol! She gave us excellent footage of what I’m terrified of when I start running her lol!

–This is a really interesting history – thank you for the info about her outside-of-agility anxieties, as those can explain some of her reactions to stimuli in agility! Addressing the underlying emotions will make a HUGE difference in her coping skills in the ring!—

This was the short version lol! I could write a short book lol!!! She had a very hard time in puppyhood forming a bond with us. I’m pretty sure that she has formed a bond with me now :). I had to work my butt off for that. Her fear period was really bad. She hid under the bed during that time period and would not come out. Her resource guarding, extreme car sickness and anxiety, and over arousal all struck at once in the same time period. It was really overwhelming and a rough time for both of us.

I took Julie Daniels behavioral class called crazy good during that time period and quit all training for agility and well pretty much any training other than that class. It helped us tremendously! We also spent a lot of time at the lakefront here just watching other dogs and people at a distance with lots of rewarding.

Her personality overall is not confident. With her fear anxiety and her ability to launch into over arousal, it makes it a not so easy training combination.

I spoke with the vet behaviorist and I will be trying a new method to ease the car anxiety. She cannot see me till the end of April unfortunately. Her car anxiety has a huge effect on how she arrives at a new location. I have tried so many things and it was time to consult a professional and look into medical management for her.

For some reason my brain understands how left and right can work from both sides of you, but I’m having trouble with my wrap verbals doing the same thing in my brain. Immediately my brain went to that I would need different words. I think working this exercise I understand now.

The first session which I did not video ended pretty fast lol!!! We only did a few attempts and she completely lost her mind!! I was holding her collar and she was very sure that it meant backside or front wrap and she got VERY angry that it did not lol! I quit pretty fast based on her reaction. There was going to be no changing her mind that time lol!!! I went back and rewatched the video. I decided to use the cookie lure going forward at first to help her not immediately launch in to a backside or a front wrap. It also helped fend off the resulting attack on me if her guess was wrong lol!!!

Hopefully, I am adding the verbal a hair sooner than I am adding the movement. This was a hard exercise for us to start, as she was very confident of what I wanted her to do, which was not it at all in this case. I’m thinking the lightbulb went off during the session and it became much easier for her!!!

One other cool thing I wanted to add. I was at a trial yesterday with Potter and walking the courses I recognized all the places I could use left/right and how HELPFUL that would have been if I had that verbal with him!!! We also had a spot in premier with a threadle wrap. Again a skill almost 10 year old Potter does not have, but little sissy will!!! Exciting!! We did get the sequence anyway with a series of front cross wraps which I would never had made with speedy Promise!

Love all that advice!! It’s so cool to see all this coming together for her! I’m
blown away with what she knows as a baby dog!

I just watched the independent verbal wraps and I think my head may have exploded 😂😂😂🤯! Wait you can wrap a rear?! With the same word?!?! Haha, I was still in switch land before this class. I’m having trouble trying to imagine this on courses. What do you suggest on starting Promise on this one right now yay or nay???

This one was super hard for both of us!!! Steam came out of both of ears! We started out great with her first GOs and then I did too many reps of the serpentine and got sucked into the vortex! I ended up switching sides to help get out of the loop. I felt like she had a harder time with the left than the right. No surprise lol! I think things really started clicking towards the end of the session!!! I struggled with my words too. I had so much to spit out at the end I ended up omitting the second directional verbal of the serpentine frequently or my reward marker sometimes. I also had no trouble with spitting out the taboo “YES”, which left me little time for the correct words lol!!! I confused the left and right a time or two also.

I have a few questions on this game…

One is about my reward placement on her line. I felt like I was rewarding on the incorrect line sometimes. I did find when I was actually successful with the second directional I was more likely to reward on the correct line. Hopefully I was anyway lol!

How important is the second directional to say at the beginning? is this something i should really concentrate on? I’m probably going to need a session of that without any dog lol!!!

I had to really add my motion(Handling) with this game to get out of the vortex. Was this ok to do or does it just ruin the purpose of this game? Instead should I have gone back to the previous serpentine exercise and attempt this one when that one is solid with me running?

I do think things really started to click for her at the end of this game. Hopefully for me also lol! I may need more percolating time than her on this one lol!!!

Yes, poor breeze got cookies which made him stand guard more and got him taken away lol!!!

I was super happy with her efforts her! I’m getting glimpses at how amazing she is going to be and its super exciting!!! I felt like all her turn were stronger also and I did not have the refusal issues. I think having time to let the morning wrap session percolate helped plus I do think changing things up with her helps immensely also. She really has shown that she like to anticipate! This session it seems like it all clicked for her!! It was a super fun session!!!

I did question my set up lol!!!

She did have more refusals to left turn rep and no there was nothing out past that wing. Though I will say that she tends to have more refusals with the left turn reps in general with any exercise! She has shown me time and time again she is much better with concepts on the right than the left. When training her weaves this became very apparent! She caught on much faster on the right than the left but it all equaled out. She was steps ahead on the right than on the left side. A good lesson for me with the wraps also.
I need to remember that all sides aren’t always equal!!!

Afternoon session with wraps and soft turns!!! Gosh this requires a lot of brain power! What a fun game!!!

Forgot to add- poor breeze had to take him away! Normally I don’t have my other dogs out for good reasons 😂😂😂.

I skipped ahead to the fast lines and will go back to the circle wrap and backsides a little later😊. Feeling a little pressure to get all the things done after my vacation lol!

Fast lines wraps- This was very interesting to go back and watch! I started off good and then I got louder and started to handle. In the moment of training, I thought I was getting the refusal from her arousal and that she wised up that I would be going the other direction. When I watched the video afterwards, I saw that my verbals became much louder than what I started with and that I was really adding handling in. I feel like the best rep was when I just ran and did not handle at all!

Also apologies ahead of time! I haven’t gotten to watch the whole zoom call yet that I missed, but I did hear you say do not say “yes”! Apparently the memo in my brain was not received😂! I did another ohh also! Somebody put a shock collar on me😂😂. Then there was the instance I totally reversed my directionals😂😳, which may have been the best rep despite that 🤦‍♀️😂. You are right, humans are feral!!!
Can’t wait to hear what you think!!!
