ParticipantI’m back!! After a trip a way and all the holiday fun we were both excited to get back to training this a.m. Promise also went into heat last Monday, so it’s been a fun filled week lol!
This session was soooo informational for me!!!! I was so impressed with her! She was pushing it on the stay before this class and it was an issue that was causing a lot of frustration for both of us! She could not do the tunnel with a toy with the same distance, but I was soooo impressed with her and food. I got much farther than I would have ever thought. You gave me some great tools and insight with this exercise!!!

ParticipantAlright, this is very timely lol! I went out to film your other class and Promise was completely overaroused and I was unsuccessful in getting her out of that state. I did the cookie reset, but she would then launch right back into her previous behavior. She was trying to snatch the toy and jumping up and being a total hellion😂! She was not satisfied she did not earn the toy! Her fuse was a very short one today.
What do you suggest in these situations?-

ParticipantI’m not positive I did this correctly! Take away the other wing and I get all kinds of confused. She did great! Hopefully I trained the correct thing lol!!!
I will probably skip the threadles for now with her!I’ve enjoyed the class and have been surprised at all she can do! she wowed me 🙂

Participant>>When you did the ‘all done’ and walked away, she grabbed your pants – that might be a frustration behavior because ‘all done’ might actually be a negative punisher (withdrawal of access to reinforcement). So even if you are walking off to give her a cookie, you are withdrawing access to positive reinforcement in the form of the action games, agility, etc. I personally don’t have a specific ‘all done’ cue for that very reason 🙂 so you can play your way off rather than indicate to her that the party is over. Then after playing your way off, you can go to treats, maybe toss some in the grass so she can sniff around to reduce her heart rate and begin to relax.
Good point. This is a new thing I was trying on suggestion of an owner of a relative from her line. I have not done this previously with my dogs. They just understood when we were done. I think tossing the kibble will be a nice way to calm down and destress.
No, she does not like for her fun to end! She probably doesn’t care for the word lol!>>Tugging then drop the toy to the cookie combo: what types of treats did you use here? She did a great job going back and forth between tugging and food! I think this went really well and she appeared to actually be *patient* in the transitions – didn’t grab the toy until cued, ate the cookie, got back on the toy – NICE!
This was just kibble, but I find that kibble is not as effective bringing her out of temper tantrums lol. I will keep practicing with her hierarchy of higher value treats till I can use all the things.
This is a great game! Unknowingly, I did this with Potter my novice A dog, and it I had beautiful results with him. I have a specific trial bag with the treats and it is always laid at a spot outside the ring with the dog at my side. And I say let’s go afterwards!!! I will have an easy time with this one lol!! I plan to do the same with Promise.
My first training session was great! We had a moment where she would not leave the reward and was throwing a fit and then a huge break through. I went to go shut my camera off afterwards and it was not recording!! I hate that lol! This was our second session. Some time in the first session when she was barking at the chair, she started included the barking. This game was not a concept she understood at first! Must not leave reward lol! Then she got it. Unfortunately I captured none of that LOL! This is a good game for her for sure!!!
I thought she did great!

ParticipantHopefully I did this correctly! When I remove the other wing and bar somehow I manage to get so confused on which direction I’m supposed to go. The first video I made was awesome backs but I realized I was doing a front with it😂😂. Oops. Hopefully I’m correct in my motion here.

ParticipantI think it’s awesome advice!!! So proud of my smart baby girl!!! Also proud of me!!! Rears are my weakest link😂😂!!! Hurray!!! And yes she makes me think I have to go sooo fast lol! Will practice again with all the suggestions 😊.
No worries about me layering too much! I’m a layering chicken😂.
We can’t wait to start your reinforcement class either🤞😊!!!Amy Wilson
ParticipantI haven’t taught promise the rear on the jump yet! Hopefully I didn’t muck all this up lol! I use switch for my rear cross word. I used cross here, but I rewatched again and saw you use directional. Are they your soft turn directionals? I’m trying to use both arms in teaching this.

Wondering if I’m a tad early with my cross command verbal and hands. Also wondering if I’m just doing rears and don’t realize it🙈.-

ParticipantGreat suggestions Tracy!!! Will try to be faster with the reset cookies and to mix it up more!!! I think I need to make my self a cheat sheet to remember what to do😂. Joking but actually serious lol! I get stuck like a record a lot😂😂!
Amy Wilson
ParticipantMakes perfect sense on rewarding first obstacle!!
Obstructed obstacles!!!
Right was great! Left had issues!! No worries, my Tasmanian devil is strongly opinionated and let me know with barking and biting me I had gone way too fast😂😂😈!!! I let this session go on to long also!! I get way too greedy. It’s so hard to stop when we are both having so much fun! Also forgot to add. My pinkie finger got stuck in a tug toy leash yesterday and is severely bruised and swollen from promise tugging in it while wrapped around my finger. My throws are Terrible because of it lol!!!

ParticipantQuestion on throwing reward sooner. Do you mean after first obstacle, after line of obstacles or both lol? Yes, I need three hands and a jet pack would also need nice😂.

ParticipantI always say Potter is the best instructor a girl could have! What an awesome novice A boy! All great suggestions, I will try with him! I do run him in premier still and he is iffy on some threadles so this will be a great help!!!
Breeze walked today with his foot on the ground!!! A true Miracle. Just Sunday he was incontinent and unable to move his leg at all!! I appreciate all the good thoughts.
Promise will be 10 months on the second of Nov.
She really got this exercises!! I struggled sometimes with getting all my words out, but I straighten it out the next time. Interesting enough, I made this exercise harder than it should have been on the check check turns 🙈🙈. I left the straight tunnel off on the side from yesterday, beyond camera view, so when she was going wide and missing the jump this was probably it! She did amazing with my super challenge 😂😂🙈. Of course I realized all that after I went to turn off the camera🙈.
Her stay is non existent right now without the board! Working hard on that! She had a great stay and I did reward it a lot, but going through teenage stuff probably lol!!! She’s doing great with board will be progressing soon to off board.

ParticipantThank you!! Breeze starts rehab today and that will help my mindset sooo much! Glad I can modify the games for the princess!
Potter got a turn and he said “Old dogs may not want to learn new tricks😂😂😈.”
He was trained so differently than Pronise has been… motion was always added at the beginning. He is my novice A dog. I totally see the value of not adding motion with new behaviors! You will see me trying to Trouble shoot our issues! He said you will not trick me without my release word so we had issues with that😂😂. Then I’m sure using his release word just made everything harder. His threadle slice word is “in” and his wrap will be “wrap”. He seems that he would like a reverse of these words please😂😂. I tried it with adding motion from the tunnel and those were probably his best attempts. Go figure.
Hey! I know not to use these at a trial anytime soon 😂😂.He said “where is my brother, he loves threadles?!”
Amy Wilson
ParticipantI am completely heartbroken about breeze. Some good news today, he did respond to my pinching his feet and moved his leg to all toes which is an improvement. He goes for a follow up tomorrow.
I’m going to try to keep up with the class, maybe it will take my mind off of things. I will sub Potter when I need to. He will probably be happy with that lol! He is my daughters junior dog for the most part now, so we don’t practice together as much.
Here is Promise! The tunnel send is the easy part, but I was impressed with her right! She could not quite get it behind the jump! She hasn’t learned she has brakes yet😃.
Amy Wilson
ParticipantHoly Moly! The uki course!! Looks so fun and exhausting😂😂!
Obstacles 2-18 tunnel/ jump discrimination
Obstacles 3-12 tunnel/jump discrimination
4-5 tunnel send
6-7 tunnel send
8-12 weave tunnel discrimination maybe
9 backside slice
11 tunnel send blind cross
After 17 layer jump tunnel sendInterested on how everyone would handle opening 1-3 and 12-15
And then 18-20Looks like this course might eat me for lunch if I tried to run it all😂
Any video of it?

ParticipantOn the challengers course, I can say the faster dogs and handlers struggled if they did not layer after that teeter. It really became a foot race! We know who winds that!!! Potter is medium speed so I was able to do it. Even with my medium speed dog I don’t think I’ve ever run so hard!!!
Haha the cheering! They did a great job for only 3 people😂😂! Covid rules no spectators😞😞😞
