Jump training will be put on hold for a little while. Promise got spayed on Friday. She is doing very well and today has decided she is perfectly well and this crate/cage rest is a huge injustice! It’s going to be a long recovery😂. It’s never a good time to schedule these things, but now was a good time in terms of competition and in preventing another heat which she does not do well with at all.

I think potter and Annalise will get to take my working spot in the two week class😊

I filmed this the night before her surgery. We went a little long on this just because I knew we weren’t going to be doing anything for two weeks. I thought it went really well at the slower speed and then started getting sloppy with fatigue and increased motion. I probably should have quit earlier!!!

I’m guessing these activities will be the perfect activities to start with slowly once she gets released by her vet.

All the above meant so very much!!! I did have the thought that it “might” be her brain trying to put it all together! Of course a million other thoughts entered also, and I got nervous that this is going to be a whole career issue. She is so wonderful and she does make it look so easy when things are going right! It is not easy stuff though and she is very, very much a baby!!! I think the experience thing/baby dog brain is a BIG factor in this!! For instance our hardest run was T2b. She had 3 bars in this run. All the other runs were just one. Lots of commotion going on this class and her headspace was not what I wanted when we entered the ring. She is struggling ringside holding it together with the commotion of the other dog running and the handlers shouting with a bigger class. In the future I need to make this an feo run for us. I actually decided to not do FAST anymore for the time being, even feo because she can’t take the constant shouting of numbers on the mic. Plus the handlers become insane screaming in FAST more than any other class🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️. She’s not ready for that and I have not entered it my past two trials.
I did take her out and practiced a lot of our previous class work on getting ready to trial!! I took her out while a course build was going on. Just seeing the equipment and the gate gets her little head spinning lol! We worked on being by the gate and doing tricks and then walking away from gate with a brain😊😂. After our runs, big celebration and cool down, I am bringing her ringside and working on her focus to me and not hyper focusing on the ring. She is able to pull this off much, much better after her adrenaline explosion from her run.

Here is the zig zag with two jumps. She needed a little handling help with me on the same side as her and this was her hardest for her. I think one time she had two strides in between so a big question mark! I did not see her bounce jump this when I was same side as her. Hopefully my set up is ok. I used a 4 ft bar to help get them a little closer together.

We are going to work through this😊😊😊!!!

I think I may have not followed directions and added motion to soon! I felt like when I was doing it she was lining up well, but the video shows her angling herself more than I thought she was.

Showed yesterday and today. Beautiful runs! Unfortunately a bar in each. Mostly the same jumping effort. It was variable on why she dropped the bar. One was early, one late, one to tight.
Jumpers was a bummer. I thought we qualified😞. I didn’t hear the last bar drop.

Trying to be patient because I’ve been working on this a nano second, but felt a little down today about it😞.

Yes! We would be honored😊. I am signed up for two of the sessions! The psychology is my favorite part of training. I’m super sciencey lol! I’m a nurse😊🥰.
Don’t worry! I won’t be taxing myself too much with my new job 🤣! I’m only going to be 1-2 days a week😊. Just had to do this whole week as a general orientation. I’m an IBCLC also. Which is a breastfeeding guru or sometimes called breastfeeding nazi🤣! I’ve been waiting for this position to open up for 8 years!!! I know all sorts of insane science stuff about breast milk 😊🤣!

This week I returned to work and Promise has gotten more sleep than she ever has in her entire life according to her FI collar🤣🤣🤣. She was happy to play tonight!

Here is the organizer wing video. I’ll need to figure out the matting better as she is doing her teeter behavior when she gets on it lol! That is because of the duct tape.

The cat messed her up a little! Don’t cats love to do that. Also, Enjoy my misstep where I manage to fall off my pool decking that is only raised one inch from the ground 🫣🤣. I’m ok!!

Will contact Leslie! Thanks for the rec!

Ok, most importantly I think the thing to note is I’m in a coat in this video!!!! Short lived most likely, but I’ll take it!!

Organizer came yesterday so off we went. I duct taped the drawer shelfing and off we went. Oops! This isn’t going to work. I used duct tape with her teeter and taught her to scratch and nose touch. I got a little confusing. Onto the the towel! Will have to find the double sided tape for the shelf liner lol!!!

If she has anything sloppy it would be her right back leg. Left is always aligned. Let me know what you think!!!

Ugh I suffer from a bit of rush and trouble organizing too lol! I won’t ever use the actual word left and right again. When I’m having to think about a lot of other things my brain defaults to the side my dog is on which is WRONG!!! I am working on this and getting better.

The ground bar was just a one time thing. I haven’t used it since. I was just playing, trying to trouble shoot the issue that day. At that point I wasn’t quite sure “what it is was” so I just filmed all that to look at it and analyze it.

What I starting doing a few days before I started this class is the Susan salo set point exercise for a bend. So very similar to moving target except there is the facilitator jump. I am also doing jump bumps on each side of the pinwheel jump to help her find a better takeoff. Separate exercise. I will have to fade the jump bumps. What’s my plan on that??? No clue yet.

Here is our novice jumpers title run! I was not rushed and did a rear exactly like you were talking about. We had no bars and it was a huge circle!!

Teaching jumping is definitely is a big weaknesses in my skills. My previous in person instructors didn’t really include it at all. I did do Linda mecklenburgs unpublished second part of her second book jumping with breeze. His issues were completely different than promise though. He was super powerful through his rear! He had early takeoff.

Thank you for offering this class! Jumping mechanics I think Is very neglected. I know I was shying away from it, only because I just didn’t know what to do. I’m glad to see that my hunches were right!!! I have no doubt Promise will conquer the dreaded pinwheel! And yes she never knocks the bar on a rear😊, so I definitely need more proofing for all jumping because she will still occasionally knock others rushing.

Also, I was wondering if I should do a strengthening program with her. Also a big weakness of mine, only because I don’t really know what to do. Any suggestions on a good person that has a good detailed plan?

We don’t have a rehab person here that would give me a plan. Would have to be online.

Thanks for all your feedback! As always, I appreciate it all😊😊!

—–Looking at the tight sit – either she has a lot of floof or she is a little wide in the sit (I think it is floof, but you can also video from the front so we can see where her toes are). The side view looked good in terms of her position when she was sitting sideways… but also it was interesting that she was not coming in straight from the harder angles – aha! She was not squaring herself up, and we need her to do this as part of the jumping education. Note how she is sideways to varying degrees, a little off center. Ideally, she would be centered to the zipper on your hoodie, with her tail centered as well.—-

I think it’s mostly the floof lol! Her feet look pretty good to me and I can’t even see them most of the time😂.
Yes, the lining up is a BIG thing!! Ahh, I see it with this exercise too! And I saw it/see it on those approaches She has issues with. One thing I noticed when reviewing videos of her bars was that she actually hits it with chest sometimes too, not just her back feet. It’s like she is taking off too late for it and treating it more like her wrap collection. Backside slices can be the same bar issue depending on the angle of her approach!
Backside pushes she has no issues with, but I am there more to help shape her line with those. I think my position helps push her out from the wing a little more.
Went out at her dinner time and replayed with me helping shape. Better!

Here is a short video I did two weeks back to look at her jumping form on the pinwheel. https://youtu.be/VJlHwChdElA let me know what you think about the takeoff. You can see it really well here

Here is where I placed a ground bar on the sequence to see if it would help her take off a sooner!

We also had an online private last week before I signed up for this class. We have an exercise to work on that involve jump bumps.

Finding the pattern(or me taking the time to find the pattern😊) became much easier when I was NQing. Most of my novice jumpers run took place after 6 pm when we had left the house at 6 a.m.. Such a long day for a young dog. I want out of the lower levels ASAP😂😂😂.

My step board will be here Friday from wonderful Amazon. I used the feed pan today which we have done some work on before with different behaviors.

The around the clock was great! Motion became harder, no surprise there right. I kinda forgot to tell her sit at first😳. We had a similar exercise with the Cato board when she was younger for her start line stay. That required me to not say a verbal so I apologize.
When I went in to get the toy and came out she was very distracted when we started up again. I stopped the exercise after a couple of attempts. She was either mentally fatigued or she was just tired of playing non racing games😂. It may have been the non racing!

The pool decking is a great non slip surface to play the games! Plus light colored!!

Forgot to add… she was checked by a Chiro two weeks ago. She checked out pretty good.

Worked on ESC evolutions boxes. Oh my! It ate my lunch lol!
Hoping I get a chance to work on again before class ends with your feedback!
Stay was not good today. Going to have to get serious(on my part) and take time to reward that stay! She is pushing it again. Not wanting to down, ugh. Possibly wet grass. Anyway, that’s what took to me to my not so good lead out that got the tunnel on sequence 1 lol! She was totally correct!

Skipped sequence 2 because of threadle in it. Haven’t worked to that yet

Sequence 3. Not sure why I decided to blind so early 🤷‍♀️. I recognized it and she was such a good girl to alter paths and still take jump. Reran that for blind, was better in my timing but got in her path.

Sequence 4. Hard to take the layer line and we don’t have that threadle wrap skill at all. Quit quite early on this lol! One and done not so good lol! I’ll wait for feedback.

Looks like a dry beautiful week! Hoping to take another stab at it all! Fall is almost here! The humidity is down and I’m sooo happy!!!

Kim Schaefer was the judge. Excellent courses!!! Great flow, huge spacing and lots of running And layering!!! You weren’t lying on layering was going to be a thing lol!!!
They were no tight spots on any of the levels! They were all super well nested!!!

Each course, I felt like I had done some element of it in camp!!!! The agility had two tunnels under dogwalk!!!

We didn’t Q, but came so close!!! We were super close on speedstakes, but on the layer she came right past the jump way in back. I didn’t worry about fixing much. It will all come with time. I think my timing got a little better today!

This weekend was such a fun test of camp skills this summer!!! It was kinda like our final for the class!!! I think we passed😊😊😊😍!

Uki was soooo fun!!! We had some bars today, but overall it was a huge success!!! We did three runs! I did get a huge tooth hug after the second run as I was cheering🫣🫣! I’m going to have to work on going to leash and chomping on it. I toned down my excitement (as in I said easy easy let’s gets the leash lol)for the last one and she only looked like she might tooth hug me😂😂😂! The crazed eyes slowly disappeared

So thankful for camp!!! I felt prepared for the layering!!! Wish there was time in camp for you to put 2 tunnels next to each other! Bonus week 6 lol!!!
