Connection is challenging with her 😊. She puts a lot of pressure on me to be moving ahead and I break connection a little more with her than I did previous dogs! She also needs more connection right now than previous dogs😂😂! All good tips that show I don’t have to be as far ahead as I perceive to still be connected😊.

—-So for the jump proofing: you can make a list of thigns that might cause her to drop a bar (disconnection, verbals over the bar, handling happening over the bar) and starting on one jump, ask hr to jump a low jump then show her on the distractions: and BIG reward for not touchign the bar. Then you can add more and more speed, and eventually more height, while still rewarding her for keeping the bar up while you present the distraction 🙂——

This morning this was my idea for the bars. She knocks the most bars on slices and on go lines with me shouting! So we started today with a go line. I did 8 reps total I think. The spacing was 18 ft to center jump winged then 16 feet wingless.
I started both the wingless at 4” and moved her to full height on center after 3 reps I think. I then moved the wingless jumps to end at 8” for the first and 10” at the end I believe. I started with walking and loud verbals. Then did a couple reps of running and quieter verbals and then added both together for end. She never knocked a bar! We did it to ready treat. I think I would next do this with a toy.

Let me know if I am on the right track!!! Maybe I don’t have to do all this and just need one jump! But she seems to do it more on a line of jumps rather than just one.

My other shelties over jumped which was a totally different issue lol but we didn’t have bars. This is all new.
I just put last rep on video since this isn’t part of the class! Thank you in advance!!!

Hi, Brandy! Amy and Promise. I just wanted to let you know I’ve enjoyed following you in class😊. My little girl might be a wee bit like Nox😂. Promise has quite the temper, just ask Tracy 😂. I had to laugh at Tracy’s last reply, because promise has been known to chase ghost ducks and chickens, that is if she decided not to bite me or curse me out😂😂. Shelties, they ARE NOT border collies lol!
She looks like a very fun girl 😊 and y’all have done great this summer😊. It’s been great to watch y’all. Tracy’s comments help me too, having a very similar girl😊.

After 8 plus inches of rain last week, we are back! Promise is very happy! She came from the factory without the off switch unfortunately lol! She was very happy to get out and practice even though the heat and humidity are back.

Critical connection points. Great exercises. Hard to do.

Sequence 2 was definitely the hardest for us. I struggled on 5 to 6 with the connection. After we got done and I was watching the video I realized I needed to stay closer to jump 4 and I think leave earlier as I was turning my shoulder in hanging back to make connection, but in doing that I was still indicating that jump. When, I watched my walk through, I could see that I was indicating the wrong jump in the box too, number 7 instead of 6.

Sequence 4- my critical connection points were pretty much the whole thing lol until 9-10 the go! This was our one and done. I can see that I am still drifting on my rear cross 7-8

    Sequence 1 https://youtu.be/mylGMK3ML-8

    Sequence 2 https://youtu.be/ZAC-lN5ATkI

    Sequence 3 https://youtu.be/1tHU3ZKKsHU

    Sequence 4. https://youtu.be/MgkDV7AJQM0

Fingers crossed that our monsoon is done and we are headed into cooler weather! October is almost here and the worst month of the year is behind us now😊!

I responded to this post twice lol! Once my iPad ran out of batteries right when I finished. The second time who knows lol! Third time is the charm, right! Anyway, I’ve learned a lot from this session and camp overall! I was rushed trying to get this in before the weather and it showed. All the mistakes were totally mine!! Can’t blame baby dog at all here! I was in her way a lot! I need to always focus on quality over quantity 😊! It’s just so hard to do sometimes, but I am learning and getting better!

Also, you brought out a very good point! My aframe word is “hit it”. Since you thought I was saying my “get it” cue, I need to change this as I can see how it could be extremely confusing to Promise who has a very strong “get it cue”!
It will be easy enough. The hit it is just a carry over from breeze. Promise has had very limited aframe training. I Got lucky with her on the frame and she’s a natural.

I can’t remember what else I said but that all of it was excellent advice 😊❤️,

Really quick before the downpour, I reran 11 to end. I did adjust the backside jump before tunnel. It had got moved a little bit over the week with me stealing uprights for the live class. This made it a little easier lol. Also, I need new tennis shoes!!! I ran this in my chicken boots and made it to position much better!! My shoes have gotten trashed over the summer and have been hurting my feet! If I can run better in rubber boots I think it’s time for new shoes😂😂😂😳!

It’s raining cats and dogs now! I cooled down by getting to haul the tunnels and bags to my garage in the pouring rain😂😂😂!

The weather has been terrible with rain and more terrible weather expected all week😞! Plus, my air conditioning is still out on one side of the house! Ugh!! I decided try to run standard 1 this a.m. before the week of rain starts again. It’s insanely humid and I will just blame that for all my mistakes😂😂😂! I didn’t film the walk through as the lens was defogging and I didn’t have the time to wait. I wished I would have been able to film, because I’m sure I would have saw my mistakes.

I watched the videos (and took an AC break😂) after the first go and saw the places were I was out of position. I tried to fix this the second time around. That video is marked. I never could seem to get to a great position from the layering element and then out of the tunnel to the backside.

I tried the opening two different ways. I guess because I thought the first slice would be really wide.

I should have put my doorbell mat out too, because I was questioning whether or not she hit the target while I was running which made me get unfocused.

I wrapped her around 1 a couple times as promise’s stay in humidity and heat is not good at all. Who can blame her?! I’m lucky she will even practice with me. I also struggle with thinking and running in this weather!!

Hi!!! Live class was so fun, even with the extreme heat🥵! Promise did not mind at all. Me… I think I’m going to wear a swimsuit and watch class from my pool in between my turn 😂😂😂.
I wanted to work on sequence b again while it was fresh on my mind and before I moved the tunnel off the grass😂. I think it’s just such a foreign concept for her to look for a jump straight in her path after me crossing behind! Especially, since she is such a turner and it’s her right side too! Honestly, I don’t think any of my dogs would get this. I was never a rear person and if did do a rear it was always a pretty decent turn. I have seen this presented on courses before and I really didn’t know what to do except run like hell😂 and hope for the best , so it will be nice to have another solution😊.

Here is me trying to work through the process. I started with the toy, but switched to the ready treat because she was a hungry sheltie today.

I think I will have to leave the ready treat out after the jump before the tunnel for more Reps. I probably rushed this too much.

I saved my standard course 4 with place markers and will save this one too. Lots of great stuff to work later in the week. She was mentally tired this morning, so time for a rest day or two😊 and hopefully some latent learning.

Decided to work on std 4 next, since the weather outlook is dry but hot the next couple days! Plus I had a few extra helpers to move all that heavy equipment yesterday!!! Plus we really need contacts and sequence work😂😊.

I took your advice and split this course into three distinct sections and walked each separately before I ran her. I kept her inside while I walked and treated it more like a trial. Focusing on the sections separately was easier on my brain and I could definitely focus on our connection more points and i think it showed in our attempts too!!! Quite a few surprises, some I should have expected (off course dogwalk-aframe😂), but she really wowed me with some of her skills I thought we would not get. 😍😍😍. I really wasn’t sure she would get that Dogwalk layer and she absolutely nailed it!!! No hesitation! I also thought the last sequence was possibly not possible😂 (I really thought not at all possible😂) and it was our one and done!!! I got too excited which caused her to get too excited and then she flipped over getting to her toy😞. She is ok!

Number 1 was harder than expected! I underestimated the power of the Dogwalk 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. I tried a backwards start, but really that wasn’t a correct use of it lol so of course it didn’t work. I think I finally succeeded with the good ole name call😂😂.
The number 12 push was an issue. We never got that one correctly. I did not attempt Dogwalk actually because that really truly is above our Dogwalk skill level at the moment!

She also got a little frightened of the teeter and did an early exit. She hasn’t seen the teeter in three weeks and we have been really heavy Dogwalk. I think I worked it out. Will continue to work on it that so I don’t lose my teeter.

Wow! So impressed with baby girl😍😍😍!

Standard one- so challenging. If there was an off course we managed to find it lol!!!

I included my last running walk through, unfortunately it was solo lol. Annalise has school. Before the walk, through I took my course map and wrote all my verbals and connection points.

I felt like my connection was good 1-3. She did keep taking the bar at 2. Later when I raised the bar to 12 she did not knock it. I was thinking too tight, too fast was the reason for the bar.

4 was incorrectly labeled a go. This would mean go straight. Good girlie first time. It took me another turn I think to fix it to a right turn. Since we are still waist deep in Dogwalk training I still question which verbals. Also problematic was my position for this sequence. I could not seem to find a comfy spot.

7 tunnel first time came shooting out. My position was bad also first time

8 this is something I overlooked on the walk through with connection. I did not see the aframe coming lol!! And it just came coming. I finally clued in and called her name there lol! I am learning though that on places like these still needs a very hard connection still, unlike my veteran shelties.

12- not sure why we got tunnel. Connection?

14-19. I expected us to struggle with this and we did lol. You can see my dream plan in the walk through lol! This so did not work😂😂😂😂. I was way too far behind to execute that lol. We did not try reworking that piece. I will have to get stronger on the threadles to attempt that one again lol!

Despite the train wreck it was lol 😆 we had fun!!! She was rewarded heavily!!! Sorry for such the far away angle. It’s the only spot to be able to get the whole course in. Unfortunately, it’s a terrible angle for the problematic jump after tunnel.

Great feedback! Lots of ideas to work on again!!! Love the idea of going to the landing at the weaves!!!Promise got a day off today😊! Things are really starting to click for her with camp! Hard to believe it’s only been a little over a month! She’s grown Leaps and bounds! She’s putting a lot of concepts together😊! So exciting to see!

Oh I’m so excited about the focus on rears!!!! They are my weakest skill, in terms of when to use them and also executing them!!!

I’m 10 years into agility and rears were not en vogue then! Blinds were the rage 😊. I was actually told I wasn’t allowed to rear with Potter most of the time in class lol! I came to view doing a rear as a weakness, a last resort. All that has changed!!! We have to be good at All the flavors today😊! Looking forward to it.

    Week 3 std 2

The great parts were the go on’s distance and layering skills here! This was very good. We struggled with the more technical part 11-16 which I anticipated. Would have liked to done a threadle wrap, but the skill is not there yet😊. Our running Dogwalk is not there yet either😳. A little Superman!

I broke down the very technical at the end. I had a hard time keeping her out of tunnel and found that I had to use her name. Which is a lot of words to spit out lol at high speed 😊.

I did a much better job the second go after rewalking with my verbals after the dog walk. She got her weaves the second go!!! I also liked the blind much better on the landing side of two than the front cross at before 2 I did the first time.

I think this is a good idea! My walk throughs fall flat at home. I don’t seem to give them the same attention to detail as I do a trial! Annalise loved the idea and is excited to offer me some constructive criticism 😂😂!

Promise’s speed also places a lot of pressure on me. I feel like I have to rush and hurry on, but in doing that I am breaking connection with her too soon! More team chill needed.

Week 3 sequences! This were hard for us! They were not one and done lol! I feel like maybe I had things a little squished. That added to the difficulty!

    Sequence 1 https://youtu.be/WlTZDMTwlgE

I did this much early today. Right now, I can’t remember what went wrong lol! Things did go wrong that’s all I remember 😂😂😂.

Sequence 2 was especially hard for us. The tunnel trap was tough. I realized I was disconnecting too fast for her. As a baby dog, she needs much more connection than I have been used to giving!! Once we got it down I was able to add the blind like I wanted. The ending was really tough too lol! The last jump was hard to get and it look pretty haha!

Sequence 3 was also tough. Somehow miss tunnel thought no it’s not the tunnel lol, probably connection again!!

I had a technology issue during my walkthrough on 2! I did run it. My phone decided to malfunction and stop videoing. Three I did not run due to the elf being underfoot and trying to beat the thunderstorm about to start.

Hi Tracy! I just checked the syllabus but for some reason the zoom recordings of the live classes are not on my syllabus page😞. I only have the first zoom recording showing that was everyone to kick off the camp.

    Never mind! I found them!!
