This week took awhile to get 😊.

The first practice session with Annalise and Prytania, Prytania must have not been feeling well and was just not feeling it. Had issues with her tunnel commitment so we did this as game

Got to go to a new place a couple days later. Annalise worked with her again on tunnel commitment
All that allowed me to get this a few days later while she had school😊. Yay trainer Annalise!!!

I was late with wrap and we made adjustments.

    Set point https://youtu.be/RnvvPQ4nLC8
    It’s at 5 feet

We are also making progress with the retrieve 😁.

    See you tonight!!!

Super huge win for me and the beast!!! I’m over the moon. We did some grid work this a.m. which she totally rocked and I thought why not try the first two sequences of this class at height just to see!! Here are all three reps!! No knocked bars😍😍😍!!! She was such a fantastic girlie!! Especially on the first rep when she veered off for the tunnel, which was my fault saying switch twice!!!Normally a knock for sure! And the last rep, that’s always a knock! Her hardest jumping effort😍! What a fantastic beast!!!

P.S. she has now grown up and is no longer an angry elf😂, she is now beast😂❤️ and a very good beast!

Alright, so I noticed a theme from you. The outside arm was missing in my previous videos 🤣🤣. Here is the outside arm
In action😊. I’m not sure why I forgot I’m supposed to use it 🤷‍♀️! But I sure did forget. I was then Like oh yeah, I forgot all about that 🤣!!!

This was a fun sequence!!! She rocked it!!! Gosh it made me think 🤣😊!I think I suffered brain fatigue🤣. I really tried to be more timely with all my verbals! I think all the equipment behind made her go super wide for the wing turn. This was our second time through it, I forgot to hit record the first time! I was like 🤬! That’s the worst🤣🤣. She rocked the first time too!

—-PS – you’re such a fun, engaging trainer that both my puppies ran over to the computer to find you 🙂—-

It’s my high voice that I was blessed/cursed with😂😂😂. The dogs dig it😂.

Prytania had her first sleepover while Susan had fun at nationals!!! Lots of good things from the puppy!!! She looks so mature lol! I have to remind myself she is a 6 month old puppy!! She reminded us 😊😂😂!!!

Annalise is trying to process everything!!! She’s an adolescent too! She’s trying to remember to tell her good girl!! She said she was nervous the other night on zoom😊! She did good!

Smiley face- Annalise had school. Prytania was great! I lost connection sometimes because of my hair😂😂😂🤦‍♀️. She really likes first thing morning training! Her toy drive is really at its best in the a.m.

Feel the wind in your hair… biggest issue on this is she is not living up to her retriever name 😂😂😂. She likes to go off with the toy. I even tried two toys, but today that was a no go. She was MUCH better on the zoom that night with the toys! I was actually shocked she didn’t run away with them that night lol!!!

Maybe we need to do this with me at the end and dragging toy so she can’t run away with it??

and I forgot to do the other side😂😂😂.

Thank you for all the feedback!!! I definitely agree and appreciate 😊 all the support and the advice. Definitely always a lot to consider with Promise. The good news for me is she always lets me know when I am not doing something right in training for her. She’s excellent with feedback in her own doggie way lol!!! Thankfully the biting feedback is few and far between now lol!!!
Here is our session from this morning, all the reps! She had two off days before this. I had been out of town. I took a break between each handling/challenge. I brought her cot out and she chilled in between turns as I looked at what was next. I had already decided I would look at my video if we had a knocked bar, but I did not get to try that out. I wasn’t sure at what height to do the skills at. I started at six for the first switch aways, but then I decided that maybe I needed a little more height for her since just runs through six. Tried 10 for next challenge… too high I heard her tick it. I then adjusted at 8, which I think was just right 😊.

We did have some stay focus issues, which has not happened in a while. I thought it was when she took off at the fence after something in the woods, but I rewatched the video and realized happened it before that. I think it was because I did not hold her to her stay criteria the rep or so before more likely!!!

I think the session went really well overall. She remembered these skills from camp!!! I haven’t used switch aways very much since then!

The fatigue question did come into my mind on this. I did take breaks during the sessions, but with her doing 4 days in a row, breaks were not enough. like you said it’s like I did 4 days of legs for her, when she had two weeks off. When I look at it that way, yes I did too much!!!
I only did this class work, these days though. I did restrain myself lol!

Where I get into trouble with her is my human brain has trouble leaving a sequence/session unsuccessful. Even though I know better!!! I will really try to work on this.

Thanks for saying all this… if I think of fatigue as one of the reasons for the knocked bars, I won’t feel as inclined to go for the successful rep.

Like you said, I need to make a calendar. So hard with my schedule and then the NOLA weather, but I’m going to give it a try 😊!

Thanks for all this. I was discouraged this session. I wasn’t the best trainer for her. She tried so very hard!!! I’ve worked so hard to get her to try hard for me and her not have frustration explosion. I don’t want to ruin that! She was so perfect with her frustration tolerance here! That was a huge success in itself.

    Thanks Tracy!!!

    Handling challenges 4

I got a little frustrated with the last 2 sequences. She took out an entire wing!!! She scares me with her lack of self preservation. Then we had lots of bars and there were only two jumps😞. After texting with Jamie( major whining on my part) and reviewing my video, I decided I am over facing her with all the jumping, plus the challenges and it’s just too much for her. I’m just getting to much failure in dropped bars. So my plan going forward is to keep the bars low and NOT increase the height during the session( no matter how tempting it will be). I will just jump her full height on her jump work and sequences that I’m sure she is very capable of. Going to try this route for a little while and see how it goes.

    Last sequence- all attempts

—-My guess is that at full height, the visible toy plus you saying “get it” over the bar were what brought the bar down on those. You delayed the “get it” when you lowered the bar, both of which helped – but a big thing for her is to learn to ignore the distractions of the verbals while she is jumping, so keep talking over the full height bar but for now, make it a little easier by NOT having the toy there.—-

Yes, this is still a big issue for my fast twitch girlie lol!!! I will try the toy in hand. Sometimes, we fair worse with the toy in hand though, because she then tends to look at me right as she is flying over and drops her feet. She’s looking for the throw. Might need to do the hide in the pants trick for the toy.
She does the same thing in trials sometimes with the last bar! She was excited here since we had not practiced for so long! She gave me her trial jumping behavior! Which was great!

We are still working on the jumping classes. They including adding in all these distractions. I just need her fast twitch muscles to be a little less responsive or maybe just more thoughtful 😂😂😂!!!

Handling challenges 3. Some Issues with the threadle. Still not a strong skill for us. It’s low on the totem pole of things lol!!! The first threadle she knocked the bar twice. I then went down to 8, then 10, then 12. The other direction threadle was hard!!! We took a couple hours break for the filming. we quit after it wasn’t going well the first time. Then came back and success!!! Would like to be less rotated, but had to be more exaggerated to get it.

Apparently I recorded this before I left lol! I just found it when I went to retrieve the other video lol! I vaguely remember it didn’t rain like it was supposed to and I got in one more practice lol! But I forgot to post it!

I can’t comment because I don’t remember practicing it😂😂😂! Guess I had too little sleep and too much wine in Italy 😂😂😂.

We went to Verona, Venice, murano, Florence, assisi, Sorrento, capri, pompeii and Rome! All in 8 days!!! Love Italy. Amazing time. Can’t wait to go back to my favorite places sometime and spend more time in them!!! My brain is fried lol!!!

Also note the difference in the color of the grass in just 2 weeks! It was winter, now it’s summer!!!

I’m back!! Severely jet lagged lol! Got back at 3 a.m. Monday morning. Needless to say, Promise was very happy to practice again. If she looks like she is HOT, she is. Its 82 feels like 86. So not ready for summer already!!! Hopefully these temps are short lived. I would like a couple weeks of spring.

We made it to a modified 2-3 for this. She was not ready for 3rd position on either of these. My aframe is soooo in the way!!! Will move the beast this weekend lol!

Seemed like when she struggled finding tunnel it helped when I looked at tunnel(not her) and shouted directional at entrance. Tried same with jump on opposite side.

Wait what?!?!?!?! I need more details, I LOVE ITALY! Where in Italy will you be? I am so excited for you!!!!

So excited! I’ve actually never been to another country to just be a tourist! We are going to Venice, Florence, Assisi, Sorrento, and Rome!!! I ruined my agility season with trials with being gone lol, but it’s worth it😊. All it does is rain here anyway!!!

This was our last practice before I leave! Rain all day tomorrow! She was soooo good here!

The field guides helped a lot. I think one time in position 3 I could have been closer to wing for the tunnel turn! The only mistake she made was challenge 4 disconnect and it was for tunnel. Took jump instead. Showing her preference. Jump she got every time! She got the tunnel on the disconnect 2nd tries 😊.
We took breaks in between and I reviewed my videos after each challenge. A+++ for me😊😂!!

Sitting and standing neutral position. Sitting started better than it ended lol! I thought we had better tunnel success sitting, but in watching the video we did not😂. Sessions were a few hours apart. The tunnel was her weakest in both exercises. I changed to “go tunnel” earlier because she had better response to it. At the end I changed to just tunnel! She was super into the cookies today (hungry sheltie) and a few times said screw the ball lol! She’s on a diet since her spay so she’s a little on the hungry side😊. This was probably conflicting to her also to leave those delicious cookies!
Overall this went better than expected! It also what I’m seeing recently in trials. She has given me a few of those head turns and curse outs when she knows the course turns away and I will be going the other direction. Her jump drive is more than tunnel! Haha how funny that changes! Used to be the other way around!

We got to pup sit Prytania today! A good time was had by all. Promise has found a new racing buddy, one that likes to chase her! Promise’s favorite game😊. Prytania was up to task!

We did tunnel rocking horse with one wing. The toy was too much of a distraction when we tried it. Head explosion! She could only focus on the toy waiting on the finish line or in the hand. Didn’t include that video. It’s all of her headed to the toy- exit with toy😂😂. We switched to food and She did quite nice with the treat n train. Only a tiny head explosion at first😂.

Serpentine exits countermotion. She did good here. She was getting a wee bit tired. She took a Power Nap afterwards 😊❤️. She was then raring to go for more chase with promise and pond retrieves!!!

    Making sure I get wet😂. https://youtu.be/22WksXRW-_Q
Annalise loved spending the afternoon with her! We spoiled her rotten😂😊. Such a good puppy!
