ParticipantTech issues so way behind in processing- computer crashed and new phone away.
Videoing on my old camera- obviously on some weird setting as wide and flat- s if I wasnt fat enougn ..
Also fogged up a bit. So miss my phoneHave caught up today with a computer and internet connection to edit and down load.
Fusion
left and right seems to understand except when I apply too much forward motion closer to wing- not so much issue when start further away – I tend to be along way away normally anyway. Not that I managed to get into camera…
Veloz biggest issue was getting him to come to me but think he understands left and right alot better than he did.
Both dogs also did some go later and they were fine- go is their favourite command
Fusion
realised on watching that should have been encouraging the slice more on the backside . Also discovered a point at which the back command was over ridden by the jump so will work on this point – also found the same when further away from the jump so more to work on. serps biggest issue was me- Fusion was good. I need to get into position faster..Veloz- Video is too long as includes serp, back side wraps , back ( I think) and just put this in because he was so good- he stayed engaged ( a little jumpy but no anger.. previously this sort of stuff pushed all his buttons) although he shut down a little. He hates this sort of stuff and dislikes being close so was pleased he stayed working and even had fun at points. I did quite a bit of toy play and goofy stuff in between so ended up being a longer session than normal but he was still involved. He struggled on his bad side a bit more and I broke it down a bit more- for example I reinforced just the wrap. He is not great on the wing wrap especially to the left so I got a bit stuck on the serp and had too rely on my verbal to get the turn. I also mixed up the different exercises as that helps keep him engaged.

ParticipantHi
Here is next session. I started changing verbal so not quite as consistent. Also jump is now 1m away at this point she definitely thought about it. Sorry you cant haer much as camera beside veloz… Veloz barking is a huge distraction at shows. Also this is at my local kennels right beside their day runs in a huge paddock. I did do some with me walking past wing as well there is definitely a point at which she asks the question – it occurs when I am past the wing before she has turned- not a place she is used to seeing me.
Done work with veloz with him jump had to be about 2m away before he could cope.

Agree totally with all your comments reverbals.beverley thomson
ParticipantCurrent verbals
obvious ones like obstacles
go- keep going on your line until I tell you something else- can be patch. te especially to a tunnel
left and right – soft turns not well proofed
wrap to left – lala and wrap right rara- need to change one after listening to video did use dig for both might go back to using dig plus one of the others
away a work in progress means turn away ie change legs
tunnel go to tunnel
through- tunnel threadle- work in progress
thread thread – jump threadle
hisshis is a serpentine – mixed not sure I need it as much any more
out – means stay out on your line dont come into me use when layering or alot of horisontal distance
back – is go to the back side of the jump- in reality probably a wrap. think I need a separate one for backside slice although tends to happen naturally at moment without a verbal
meme- come towards me bypassing anything else.Traditionally I have also had a round round which was a 180 dont think I use that any more
I dont have commands off the contact geabeverley thomson

ParticipantOkay I did manage to set up the skills from the last set today. didnt set full height as ground has some slope and didnt want to make it too hard to jump.
Fusion worked well- see first two exercises. I do forget se is till a baby and needs more support.
Veloz struck an issue on the third obstacle of first set- he kept giving me a backside even if hehad to almost push me out of the way. Not sure why tried being in a differen place but it needed me a long way across jump not sure why,,,
als fusion working distraction with a strange dog that was being worked just out of camera- struggled need alot more of this.

ParticipantHi
Thanks for that.Attached some of our distraction training. The friendly chicken didnt help veloz he prefers to chase them.
I then took fusion.into paddock sheep ecited side right fast. Fusion was good in paddock inspite of chickens poo and sheep. But i should have known she was plotting couple of hours later i went out to find she had broken into the paddock to investigate everything, Sorry phone had a accident at start of lockdown and so not filming very well.Veloz and lambs and chicken

ParticipantYes I am pleased way be are handling things. lockdown last time had 2 days this time was at massage appointment – so no drench for goats and little dog food. Dogs arent impressed they dont get their usual…
Older dogs not sure but if put my thinking cap oon am sure I could come up with something- thats a good idea. Have had dogs in back of the ute or in their keenels which same general area but need to think about how I can have them more intergrated – Fusion ignores currently because she knows no access. Sheep same in their paddock. Might have to take games into paddock..
How much longer do we have to post things
beverley thomson
ParticipantI was behind before but nzhas been in full lockdown for past week so limited options to do courses.
Upside is more time to work on the trial stuff both dogs. Veloz finally seeing smallamounts progress. Have been playing combinations especially lead on lead offaoround obstacles and the treats on chair game. Resostance less and when moves aeay tends to come back himself.
Videos too long to put up.
Fusion been trying to increase distractions. Lambs around and have been grazing lawn, my other dogs, toys food on ground. She is getting more focused. Her car chading instinct much improved when go for a walk she looks and wants to but lead stays loose. Have also done a little with other dogs hard at moment and most of time stays focis ehen she doesnt either returns part way or comes back immediately. Need to get this in more exciting place with more exciting dogs but not posdible at moment.Hope you keeping well

ParticipantHi
Group classes is hard. The local agility class i left for a number of reasons including that i had pressure put on me to start her on weave training and jumping low jumps at six months. We do weekly rally classes on lead she is fine in that.
This is one of few training daysi have ever heard of they did it as a funraiser. She is 18 months. I had her playing treat toss, sits and downs tricks by the ring area. Some rally heeling. Waits with focus forward to toy no trouble at all i had a wait after i took the lead off. Focus on the first obstacle lost it when she came around to face people. Think if i had been close would have kept herbut she is fast…I have been goung to friends and working her when their dogs are running. Need to do alot more of that.
This week going to do alot of reinforcing for the come and work alot on tricks. Probably need to do alotmore sequencing so she is used to doing more.
Sny other ideas on how to build that focus with a highly movement sensitive dog when little access to people and dogs on mass or with movementl

ParticipantHi
weather has been freezing here so just practising focus games inside.
But on Saturday took Fusion to a practise show day for green dogs and handlers.
We were a diaster.
I got her out walked her around did focus work all really good, went to put her back in truck she slipped her collar and she did a race around saying hello to everybody. Tightened her collar did some more work.
Got her out for her run – made sure everybodies dogs on lead and judge requested any body whos dog wasnot going to be happy with a visit put them away. got a wait didnt ask for too much got first jump and a little more I think then she took off. Somebody was playing with their dog and kicked her when she arrived because their dog didnt like other dogs visiting so that stirred her up more. tried a couple of times to work her got her settled- she wasnt too bad when faced away from people. Put her away did more focus work. next time went out to do a small circle as far away as possible she took off but this time returned to a toy. Got her focused again and did three or four jumps big party. I know she is highly movement orientated and have been trying to work through it by visiting different places especially with other dogs but lambing and calving started so most busy. any other suggestions – she has been successful on the games at home and familiar places although yesterday after the previous day less so. Any suggestions can post videos if they help.beverley thomson
ParticipantJust thinking after reading the latest games
Around the ring I have been using a mat for veloz – after he made it plain that he needed it- he tried to pull me over to get to somebodies jacket on ground. But as well as that we do cuddles at home where he puts his head into me and I stroke his body. At shows or when he is getting too heated at training I have taken to kneeling on ground so he can do the same thing – I have also done it a couple of times on start line when he has gone over the top doesnt put me in a good position… It does seem to relax him but as soon as I move he goes high again. doesnt always work at moment but does settle him even if only for that moment.so his calm is only surface should I keep on working on this to extend the calm or should I introduce something elsebeverley thomson
Participantyah- have fun competing

ParticipantIn a couple of weeks, we will transition the pattern game into something you can take into the holding area too, so keep working it so it is highly recognizable, which will make it easier when we transition to the next steps.
great look forward to that as feel we are getting better at stuff outside ring then loose the good work.
Yes fusion worked well. All mistakes were mine which is why it worked better second time when I fixed my error. We played with a toy between different bits but yes I think she was finding the thinking hard work. I certaintly did. Need to work on getting distance but at the moment aware that she is still a baby Still working out what she understands and how much I can leave but she is putting things together fast.
beverley thomson
ParticipantI used the tossed treats pattern game- both dogs worked it fine at a small distance. I couldnt do it too close to ring as other dogs around. but was only a few feet off the side . Not sure veloz would manage it on side of entry with more dogs. Once we went into holding area veloz went sky high. no focus at start but getting more control at end except for gamblers where he boiled over but it was body slamming rather than mouth, and he didnt go into a spiral of madder and madder.
heres fusions skills work. She tried hard and all mistakes were mine
veloz I just focused on trying to kee him focused. -
