Glad you like my term haha

Sunday was a good day- obviously huge number of mistakes but In Synch was trying so hard.
I did mat work very successfully in holding area before the first two runs. Second two runs I didnt have enougn time as small classes and two dogs. Didnt get running to bag but didnt ask for but she was not running on by this point and was coming back to me so will take that at the moment. Better than a dog I cant catch.

I only managed to use the mat in the ring for the first run which was our worst run but it was also the hardest course. In this course and the jumpers course she was not running on she was checking in alot rather than just running so we got spins, back jumps etc. In the starters I didnt intend to attempt the weaves meant to bypass but ended up with a cross between the two my bad. Havent found video of jumpers yet.
here is the starters run. broke her wait and went to tunnel

We ended up with three runs close toether at the end of a very hot day. Jumpers C followed by EA and EB. EA and EB are the baby classes only at ribbon trials so very simple although hard turn in this one. Only diff between the two is 6 weaves in EA. She is only elig to run NC in EB but ran all runs for the day as NC.
we did EA with InSynch then with Fusion and then EB with In Synch so I was getting puffed.
I did think about pulling her from one but she seemed to be coping. She has only done 1 run in a day before and only two runs total. EB she broke but resat for me so I think she is starting to understand wait or at least dont just run and jump everythingWas pleased with here EB even if once we got to he last straight we lost the fluid motion.

What is a ‘shittery’ wait? LOL!

It is a wait where she is shaking teeth chattering and working so hard not to move so cant hold for long. also get the odd bounce and then back in position. so wait is not stable and is taking alot of energy and bandwdth as so wants to move. Plus I get pressured and flustered as worrying about her.

I was surprised at how well she responded to her verbals as didnt think I had trained them very well yet. It was funny we were introducing her to cavelltis and had her bag part way and she kept going past it until I realised I was telling her to get it…

I definitely felt in the seminar environment her understanding had increased. show will be a little different as alot more distractions.

For the trial, do the rules allow you to use her mat for a stay in the not for competition runs?
In theory yes in practise no. Definitely not in full shows – may manage with some judges at ribbons. They dont like the fact that the mat stays when you start and that may interfere with next competitor. At ribbon might be able to run last and get somebody to pick up. will see

    ribbon tria on sunday.

were you going to do zoom discussions where will they be posted

    Hi

In Synch did some great work at the seminar.
Day 1 she was the youngest and we worked on a course that was a jumpers level up from her. Lots of mistakes but generally around my cues. Two parts she couldnt get one was abackside with a tunnel just past it. She struggled with the tunnel but this challenge is way above her pay grade. we did break it down and Fusion was the only dog who got it all day. the other part she couldnt get was a rear cross which was quite hard too. Most of less experienced dogs people got a blind in but with a hard send and then the turn I couldnt get there because she was smoking it.
We got great drive between jumps and they were set like a competition, shittery waits on a mat and amazing drive to her bag at the end. Second day was skills work so got to do some work on tyres and spread jumps, jumping grids and turn commands plus lining up properly for waits.. Too wet to get alot of video. waits I got all weekend even if she struggled was pleased bout that evn if short.
Here is our finish run on day one when we put together the whole course- she was the only one who tried this. I was getting tired and 1 mucked up a couple of turns – video didnt capture all . Will post some of her break down bits from earlier in day later. H

I have tagged you on my facebook post will try and work out how to get the other video showing her starts etc on here soon

First ribbon trial this weekend (lower level competition – so in theory less pressure)

    Thanks that clarifies things alot.

You can add in throwing the toy or treat back to her (I use a ‘catch’ marker for this). Two reasons for this:
I have been doing alot of that too- esp inside its a bit harder to throw her treats outside as they soft and sticky. we are doing waits at least twice a day inside. It took a while to find something she was okay sitting on. In some ways I was disappointed with the inside video – but turned out she had forgotten to toliet when she was outside …

One thing you don’t want to do is go back and feed her by hand, for 2 reasons:
    – it doesn’t let her move like the other options do

I like this to as it is so hard for both of us but it is what I have always been taught so like not having to do this. throwing and release is definitely easier on her. she has to work so hard to stay that huge reward when released.

One other thing that will help transfer this to agility – walk in one direction to be more consistent and clear about what happens next. You were walking all sorts of different directions so she was not really sure wher

I like that idea I have always had in drummed into me you should vary how you walk out – your comments make more sense. will do from now on

She is doing well with targeting the bag at the end! What are the rules about having it visible near the ring? Be sure you are running though, to support the drive ahead cue so the physical cue (decel) does not conflict with the ‘go’ cues.
rules are generally that stuff is transported from where you leave it in the starting area unless you place yourself. With all my dogs I place my bag in the holding area at the end before I line up and they see me do it. I think this provides clarity to my dogs about where the reward is and that it is there as well as giving them a job to do at the end so they stay in the holding area until I get there. I also always have a spare lead incase there is a hold up. With Fusion I secure it to a post so she doesnt run away with it. But can be quite a distance to holding area so will have to work on adding her finding it at a greater distance and waiting at the bag until I get there. but stage one was value for the bag- she now knows it holds toys… Can be visible but not in the ring- why I have a large bright bag.

we are at a seminar this weekend and then have several ribbon trials. Pity so close together but ribbon trials low key and also have baby classes.

    Hi

Waits have been working on these several times a day just one or two trying to keep fun and plenty of variety for a while even thou doesnt look like it. Stillness is something she struggles with. Inside it is getting much better outside lags behind

Running to bag is starting to happen with high value on bag away from ewuipment. Starting to build it around equip and when her arousal is high.
Measuring also high on my lidt as dont want her to go upin ht . She has another measure in 5mths and it is a slow progress.

Doing stuff at a distance has been harder as not enougn roomat most places.she is good when a couple jumps. Will be back training at other place in a few weeks.

I think that turns will start to happen she has foundations just need to get in high arousal but lower priority.

Have a seminar in a week and a bit will be interesting to see how this develops as not in baby class this time although presenter will simplofy if needed

    Hi
    We are back.

We have done 2 runs in ring . Iwas pleased as to how they went. I got a sit and a wait although not settled st the start. She drove on well but when too far she came back to me. We did lots of off courses and missed jumps but that was poor cues and baby mistakes. She stayed focused. First run she spooked at end and couldnt catch her. Second run more prepared and didnt need it.

Have a wrkshop in week and a half.

    Working on
Waits in ring ended up backeards, need to get nice line up beside me and stable plus more distance
Finish want a run to bag so she knows where to go and drives thru finish
    More distance between jumps
    Turns etc

Need to teach weaves and then contacts

More work measuring as 2mm under cut off.

Come she can be a ratbag sometimes
Plus rest of things like jumpong up, liking treats, heeling, not getting mad, fitness

    Long list…..

Will post her run videos when access better internet and a computer.

    Hi

Yes i was a bit stunned sbe achieved souch more than i drrsmed of.

Practise cpurses are uncommon.here and it was at end of day and i asked about food. Those who didnt want food went fitst as quite a few liked yo have food. First time ever. I didnt really need it bit nice to have.

This was the same course as jumpers c hdr level so it is what i expect to see
If i run for training i csn start how i like and do what i want within readon. Just need to ask judge before class and you get ded as soon as hyou do something outside rules. So as soon ad enter wkth a toy or if you start past start line.

I have her entered in two classes in jan then a ribbon in feb. I need to try and get her weavong by feb.if it doesnthappen it doesnt

    Hi

Bit behind in posting and doing the class work as little internet and have been busy shows etc.

But skipped ahead. We did some work in the practise runn at the weekend- was a small show and at the end so not too many people around. I had no expectations – I had hoped to get somesort of wait- limited jumping, no biting and no zoomies and stay in ring. She was awesome- lots of green dog and handler being too slow but we achieved some lovely bits and everything I wanted. I was a bit stressefd as it was super hot and I had been working in the ringso everything abit rushed but she behaved like a pro. still lots room to improve in terms mechanics and building on the wait. I had food and a toy on me.
    first go

    second go

Plus thanks to alot of practise with your idea of using a small lid with amazing stuff we managed to get a measure of 2mm under the height change. she managed to stay still enougn and didnt freak at stick miracles happen

    Hi

didsome work with good distances using tunne discrimination as a base- got altered a little. These distances between jumps much bigger than she is used too. It nearly killed me- the answer was when I gt it right so did she. Arousal did go up as she was running faster . we missed the far jump several times as my arm came up so disconnect and didnt run hard eougn – her commitment point is later than fusion not really a surprise. There was a tunnel just out of the picture. But her understanding of distance and obstacle commitment has improved heaps since last did some distance. so now I need to get my shit together to help her. I did give her a toy in middle. she is getting better at coming back to it once she has had a zoom- this was off camera so edited it out.
