ParticipantTry Again
I am renovating so lots weird things end up on porch but will try and get inventive not my strong suit.
Been doing abit with toy going well
Here is my latest work with cone and two bowls done before yesterday.
here is our work with the different reward markers- Ziv is used to find it food and get it toy Plus catch it – forgot here. But bite and treat were new as didnt have a word for on me Not sure where you use the side one so much
did with all my dogs Fusion and veloz a great reminder. In Synch obviously need to do alot more of this.looking forward to the other games this week. I like the look of the self control game that is different to things have tried before. Ziv found skateboard so will be interested to see how he works with skateboard.

ParticipantThanks for suggestions _ I think I should be adding energy and movement with food rewards and he tries so hard it is easy to get to push just a little too far. I will look at using a toy as that will increase his motivation and energy. Didnt want to use a toy at start as he doesnt think as well when a toy is present but he has more fun.
Will also add self control game with a toy. I do do something very similar with a toy as we play alot of get the toy and run to toyt and chase toy just as fun but learning
Because I am lazy usually we train with lots of neutral novel things present – training things (when doing stuff In Synch and fusion) clothes leads, often toys but boring ones , as one thing I have worked on from the start is playing with me regardless of what else is around – although not alot with good toys as that is too hard.

I added a cone in to the 2 bowls currently its very close and he is going back and forwards nicely. forgot to video
Here is our send work to prop
added more exciting i.e. a toy and more novel things a broom into the treat toss game he was more aware of them

ParticipantThanks lots to tighten up
“think he is more food motivated than she was at this age? You can break things off between every 2 or 3 treats to play tug – that will keep him from looking for treats a lot, and help him drive back to the prop more.”
Insynch had no food drive at this age- her food drive currently is where his is now. Makes a lovely change. Although still not great in that cant use kibble or anything like that it has to be high value andn any toy trumps. So I have done alot of switching between the two and he will stay engaged and working with food when a toy is around now. As long as toy comes out frequently as a break in between.“Since the toy drive looked good, try to tug tug tug then trade for a treat – and as you deliver a treat, line him up at your side. Do all this before you take his collar and avoid grabbing, pulling or ”
like this he tends to back away from toy when he thinks I am going to throw it – think he wants a head start,,,,, so like this idea He has good toy drive without it being over the top like his sister.“He was super keen to drive to you! As you move away from him, stay connected so the instant he starts moving towards you, you slow down a lot and show him your hand next to your leg. Letting him see the early decel cues will let him organize and slow down to arrive straight at your side. When you didn’t slow down, you can see his bum was swinging wide because he didn’t have time to shift into deceleration.”
thanks didnt notice that he loves chasing me but will work on my mechanics
stealth game
“Wrigged no engagement with me and straight to toy.>We don’t want to start with something that hard 🙂 For now, using distractions that are not as interesting ”
🙂I agree which was why I was surprised this top nstructor did it.
He generally doesnt seem to notice static things in his environment when he understands and is engaged.here is our change in arousal video. Probably expected abit much as we have done a bit with two feet onto something butthis was new. When asked to work again after the toy there was a little are you sure. I need to do more of this with all my dogs…..
Go with prop
flooring struggled with a little inside he is good but not much room, outside on grass or dirt not keen on finding and eating the treat so went to porch. Have now tried some covers. When put a sheet down he dint like that. The one in this video is my best attempt yet and he did seem happier. Started to add the send athough I noticed I am still moving but he is driving ahead more
I wasnt very happy with the two bowls game so redid it. Was much smoother although he still thinks it would be much quicker if he came straight to my hands holding the food- he is still checking them out but a sign he is thinking things thru. ignore first bit video didnt edit off start
wasnt sure whether you had any comments on pre game hand touch. But have done it again. any comments on mechanics before I do further work on this- so much easier biggerdog where dont need to reach down,,,
Thanks Beverley

Participantpost 2 here are some of our attempts at games set one. Some we have already played a little with or something similar.
focus forward toy on long line so couldnt vanish not sure quite played this right toys are his number 1 motivatoor at moment.
game 2 treat toss issues treats going down cracks- treats are small alwise he spends ages chewing them
wing wra start- watching video thnk needed to make more noise when placing treat to make it more obvious at start
blind cross- handler mechanics not good ziv perfect..
The stealth game i am not sure how it different from treat toss – is it that we are not moving. Have done this sort of thing a lot I am lazy so often things I have been using in class or with other dogs are around or toys he doesnt care or even notice. He would maybe notice a toy if I hadnt engaged him first or if a toy was actively being used. The only time he has paid any attention to the novel was at a puppy class. First exercise inside lots of toy play. Then outside instructor tossed toy. Held Ziv I walked acouple of steps away I was supposed to collect him to me and then release to a toy- he watched the other pups. Wrigged no engagement with me and straight to toy.
So far he is amazingly reilient he has been out in different environments alot- loves sniffing and exploring

ParticipantHi
He is very different than In Synch in that he is much more thoughtful. I should have thought of that as he does get very sticky when things are less movey. Changing reward replacement made a big difference apart from fact we were on porch in shade and treat kept going down cracks- he wasnt impressed when that happened.

Participanthere is our first go at using the foot touch on prop- he was quite unsure I forget sometimes how much of a baby he is. he does so much so well i forget he is only 15 wks. Also super hot today so nobody very energetic

Participanthere is a video of the palm touch start.

Participantokay I have edited the other video. I had to work with fusion to get it but it flowed. In Synch I had to support more and then got stuck so couldnt get to the next spot but we got pieces. Her understanding of the backside wrap is still not completely there but it is coming, I kept wanting to move a fraction too soon. basically the bits I got right she got right.
we have been working hard on her stay – sometimes it shows and sometimes it looks as if she has never been asked for a stay.

Okay I have been experimenting I think the issue is that neither of my dogs understand their turn cues on a verbal so when I am not on the same side as verbal they go for where I am – so been doing some work on this slow progress. This is worse when I am moving less or coming out of a tunnel.
Did some traning at weekend finally some sun. Saturday things we struggled. But sunday both dogs enjoyed the exercise. I set up one of popouts with weaves. In Synch weave is coming but she still struggles so didnt really expect alot as not done weaves as part of a proper sequence before. But I was pleased she seems to be starting to understand backsides even if we got a slice instead of a wrap sometimes.
will edit videos tomorrow and hope to get another training session in before leave to look after dad tomorrow.

PS Maybe that sun session training with friends so spent quite abit of time looking at lines- another sign should walk courses more in training. But also amazed at how focused both my dogs have got when lots distractions- people, dogs, horse poo, horses rabbits etc.beverley thomson
ParticipantThat was a quick reply.
Mum had a progressive disease for a number of years and deteriorated in last few months. I have been back and forwards to help and she has now passed creating more things to do. Dad is almost deaf and cant see very well at the moment so alot of work trying to get him sorted as well. Now eye surgery scheduled and so will need looking after as only allowed up 5 min every hour for first ten weeks. One of times i regret when they are three hours away. my brother thinks its my responsibility as i am the girl and he is busy. on mums last bout of illness and for her funeral I ended taking one of the dogs who regularly boards. messaged client to say sorry her dog was leaving town shre could have her back when I returned.
sunny couple of days so did a little training. some of sequences only did once as she did well.
https://youtu.be/SC-INcRiyUM.
the next exercise was surprisedshe didnt do as well as I expected. moved jump too far and other interesting thing she struggkled more when i swapped to toy to make reward easier.
next video fusion and kept all walking and course thinking in
the second exercise i discovered i never actually walked it….
I am really struggling with the some actions the turn away or when come back on me. did the one with the layering with weave tonight and was not happening will try and post tomorrow will need to rewatch videos as think i am right and then it is awkward and not work

ParticipantHi
apologies dog training has just not been happening- have been away dealing with parents alot – my dogs but no space or gear and the days I am home the weather has been really miserable and wet – with ground too slippery to do anything.
I did get out yesterday – will edit videos later and both dogs were feral and I was so out of synch with them both. Hopefully can get some training done this weekend and then away again.went to deal with earlier videos yesterday- seem to have lost some. but heres working in synch on teaching her a backside and a backside wrap- once we got started she got it when I was right.
some of fusions work
some in synch earlier work

ParticipantBetween the rain and family stuff we havent done much lately and it shows.
two weeks ago we had a go at parts of week1 agility course- at a friends place with big distances and rough ground. But what most impressed me with both my dogs is that inspite of strange place with lots of horse poo plus horses very close behind a single wire they both focused. Didnt get much of course done but did manage to pursuade In synch to go over a strange dog walk and a frame. She had to think about it a little .
Also set up a jumpers but super spread out and too hard for me to run to get to some spots but she did some good distance work and some questions. She tried hard- very obvious she didnt understand backsides or different side of jumps. same in popouts so need to go back and teach on its own.
yesterday attempted one of the poputs from the jumpers – we struggled she was not finding the linbes (mainly because Iwasnt right) It was very spread out and got used to Fusion who had no trouble unless i stuffed up. also we are both out of pracitse esp me.Hope the weather isnt too bad where you are.beverley thomson
ParticipantHi thanks for your comments
One thing to add at home is getting her as aroused as possible, then asking for simple stays.
Haha still working hard on in between ie presence of agility equipment – then will move to high arousal- doesnt take much to crete that three or four jumps will do it... She is not 100% sure about the layering, so that is where we will want to look at reward placement to help build the skill.
Yes this is new to her. I realised later I should have had her bag out there. I stupidly thought are she sends she will be fine- forgot that adding the tunnel in changed the picture.Remember that these are not gamble sends, they are parallel path lines. If you are sending and not moving, she will correctly read that as turn cues and curl in.
Yes I realised that too. I think it was because turning a corner it felt easier to stop..
– Send to 1 and 2, then run run run 🙂 no standing still!
– throw the reward out on the line, don’t reward from your hand (more on that below)
is it okay to have reward ahead of herBack to reward placement:
To really build the understanding, though, throw the reward sooner and out on the line. It looks like you were rewarding from your hand which builds more value for coming to you and not staying on the line. Yes can be dumb sometimes – she cant be bothhered finding food if I throw it. need to use a toy or a placed reward. This means you will need to run with the toy in your hand so you can throw it easily and on time, which is great experience for her as she learns to self-regulate arousal. If she is not great about bringing it back right away, have a 2nd toy to call her back to. You can also use a food toy like a lotus ball or treat hugger, as long as she can open it herself and not need you there to open it.
Alaways use two toys or a placed anchored toy. Treat tuggers etc only interested in as a toy will not look for the food- too much effort for food. One more idea about reward placement:
To get her to not jump up on you: don’t use a ‘yay good girl’ because that is not super clear and she will jump up. Instead, use a reward marker and throw the reward. Ifyou are throwing the reward, jumping up won’t be a problem. You will likely need to work out getting the toy back after you throw it so you can really work on the distance and layering skills.will do
Sequence 2 went well too – when she lines up between your feet (fun skill!) be sure to step away and have her on the correct side so she knows which way to go rather than releasing from between your feet.
working on it. This is the first time tried it in presence of jumps and she is still not 100% sure of me moving (she thinks I might stand on her) so I didnt want to push it so didnt move. But it is proving the easiest way of getting her facing the jump rather than yelling at me..Seq 3: If you are not layering, try to run that opening line 1-2-3-4 silently, so you crank up your connection – that is where her questions are (not enough connection). Same goes for any sequence not layering: run silently to really emphasize connection and not high arms looking ahead. Yes, I am evil 🤣😂😁 but it will make a huge difference!
will doSorry did some more work while weekend as limited daylight and chances to do
We did some more work on sequence 5 with her bag out there and she layered beautifully – why- I was moving and she had plenty of speed and it was the second time. Unfortunately the videoer stuffed up and didnt get it on film. Pity as she did some really nice work and it felt almost smooth and calm…Its didnt last
Then tried seq 6 – things went abit to custard. Waits started to fail and I was all over the place. I couldnt get the first layer and the second layer she did the first jump fine but was going wide and missing the next jump then cutting in bypassing 11 and coming to 12. Because I wasnt getting the 1st layer i wasnt in the right place to get the slice to turn around and go back. on video I can see arms and everything going in all directions.
first go
the rest sorry not pretty

ParticipantHi
In Synch is a work in progress with waits. I now have a good stable wait away from jumps and often in presence of a couple jumps at home it is still very difficult elsewhere. I tried a plaftform and yes she was stable onplatform but hard to get her to be settle on platform. I have been experimenting with a between the legs this has been helping alot although not as obvious in this session. I placed her there a couple of times in this session havent tried that before I think it helped. Here is first 4 jump indep exercies the far jump (no 4 in first exercise) was hard to get she tended to curl in unless i went the other side of the tunnel. Something to work on. After 4 exercise In Synch said she had enougn and so we finished it was nice she told me and didntjust go silly. Did also with Fusion and she aced them all – showing me how far she has come- if only we could get in the ring.
