The thing about Paps is that they are Spaniels and most definitely not herding dogs. So are they independent? Yes. Do they seek reinforcement differently than herding dogs? Oh totally yes LOL!!!

haha in her case both- she has decided that she should round up sheep. But yes reinforcement is the hard piece as this is more challenging- she likes speed, toys and will now work a little for high quality food if not too much pressure. Not a great eater full stop. I also stuggle clarity and timeliness of cues – she is not very forgiving when I am wrong as often happens.

It depends on how you are working on it 🙂 What are you doing for calmness?
been doing alot of the stuff from brain camp plus previous course with bobbie- but I do struggle with the limit to her food motivation.
she likes snuffle mats. also the side to side game, have done less with updown game. but also done abit with novel and exciting and doing stuff in different places. But unlike my other dogs I dont feel as if I have the same intensity of wanting to do it that I have with my othr dogs I dont know whether that is because she is still young or whether we dont have the same reinforcemnet intensity built up or whether it is that the reinforcement isnt as good as it is food. Having said that all of these things are better than they used to be. But feel we havent quite made the transition from an individual exercise to something that is part of evey day life. if that makes sense.

We did alot with tricks when she was younger but need to bring it back- life has been abit full on in last few months and her training has not progressed as much as would like for this reason.

life is getting in the way abit at the moment but we did manage to get a bit done on a less slopey plank. It was a bit rocky but she didnt seem to care- couple weeks ago she would have freaked. Still very much a work in progress- she wasnt quite worked out the value of offering but starting to happen
Am going for a 2×2 contact at the moment but will probably change to a running later but am happy if stay at a 2on2

    Thanks for the info

This weekend just worked on a few pieces- some work with the raised plank -and some work on waits, and mat tunnel revisited.

    Hi
Sorry to hear about crusher- hugs too you. she was lucky to have you as her human.

I have just started to get used to shutting up lol…

Here last two days- i struggled to get my body and mind to work but fusion went where I sent here even if it wasnt right. On the first video we were supposed to go thru on the last sequence I couldnt get this she kept going over jump so need to refresh my me command.

second one more room so spread out. again I struggled abit to run and get the cues but she didnt go off crazy multiple jumping.

    Hi

Did some of the accel decelerate yesterday. She did so well jumps were about 5 m apart which is the most distance . Biggest issue was she ran away with toy early on when I used a toy toss as the rewardbut it was funny also as she then came back ad was offering tunnels and jumps with the toy n her mouth. Got things under control when I found another toy. Didnt leave it in the video.

    Questions

when is last date submissions as we still have alot to catch up on-have been taking some things slow and weather not cooperative for a while.

When does max pup 4 start- lookng at organising having her spayed but need to get timing right.

    Hi

I think quiet calm verbals will be even harder than no verbals – just saying …

I did one of the earleier pop outs yesterday when unexpectedly finished work before dark. Then realised it was one I had already done but oh well. I also now have some small numbers for rally- it made course walking so much easier…
A few times I got lost or missed a handling move and just kept going as didnt want to do too many reps.

    hugs to crusher

    Hi

Hope things go okay with crusher. Drive safe (although you should be home before you read this) Retried the serp yesterday- denitely better with the tunnel first now we both just need to workout what we are doing- me more than her.

    Hi

Felt this session went much better. Apart from the turnaway but I think we both need to wor this out on a single jump still. Rest was much better in that I got more drive and connection and no tunel to tempt her.

    Hi

The planets alined yesterday- finished work early and rin held off until finished. I was pleased with this work. Majority of errors were due to e losing where I was going. Rest were when I was not quite in position- we struggled to get complete the first exercise in series – no video. But next exerises went reasonably weel. Not much space so drop rails down low.

just came bck to do an edit and ask a dumb question

Jumping- my big dogs it is easy to start adding low height early on by In synch is so small – think her jumping height will be only second whole up. How do you slowly introduce the jump – currently still doing almost every thing with pole on ground as first lug seems to be high for her age.

She is not faster than fusion currently but not alot in it but she feels so much faster. Coping with her speed is a chllenge but will be worth it.

    Hi

I thought I wanted to kill you after fusion but now the hit man is coming.
Did the long lines (although didnt make it very big yet) with no verbals. I was totally disconnecting and she got mad- very vocal and bit me. I never thought I would say this but she showed me how much fusion saves me. I struggled to get the turn to the jump when the tunnel was sitting there I might cheat next time and not have a tunnel. Not having verbals and trying to handle shwed me (reinforced probably ) how much trouble I am having doing things soon enougn and reconnecting with this little speeding thing. She feels faster than fusion probably because she can turn really tight.

    Hi

I still want to kill you….

Here I did one of the latest skill the circle wrap on jump 3. Used this one as set up similar to one of pup and time limited. Sorry when I set up camera I hadnt looked at what we were doing where so this is hidden behind tunnel but questions were all at the layering and turns. The wrap was no problem to my surprise. Was pleased with how this session went. I did spread it out more than on the course plan apart from wrap which was still close- also restricted my camera and couldnt quite get all in shot.

havent had a chance to try non verbals yet it will be interesting.

I did start to work on the serptines but it was a hot mess. I need to go back and do some more wait work around jumps as finding it hard to get these more technical turns as I end up rused and not in right place. In hisight I should have put a wing out there to buy me time. Am going to take soe of these exercises on one jump or wing inside as things will be calmer there. She get mad when I keep stuffing up.
