ParticipantWith the two bowl game, I then added a tall skinny, the jump standard, like in the video. Maybe my terminology? We had a couple breakthroughs there, but few. Switching to two toys, no upright, hopeless. She’s too intense about it. And, the biggest problem, she wanted one more than the other. I tried varies combos. I don’t have two identical tugs. Time for a trip to Clean Run again 🙄 Though she does work well with the two bowls for plain old kibble. Oh, and swapping out the tug for a treat 100% today. Because I was consistent.

ParticipantOkay, for the send to the prop, yes it was with an empty hand. Also, yes, I have been doing a spin left and right, so that might be what you are seeing the lean away. I will work with this more. Toys were totally a no go! Like her mother, focus goes 100% out the window when a toy/tug, in Chitlin’s case, inflation is involved. She tired of it mostly because I overworked it, my fault. It’s always my fault in training. My dogs will work many repetitions on things, so I get careless and go over what I should. In the morning when I first did this game she was 100%. So we will skip it for a day or two and return.

ParticipantShe was better the first thing this morning, before we did a video, so of course that was better. Yes, I’m raising my hand too high, and I think moving away too fast. She was losing her zest for this game so I quit and will rework it tomorrow. I’m sure you may be able too add something before I try again. Paul was helpful in my hand position. My handling is frequently off! My biggest challenge with agility, as well as being strongly one sided. From decades of obedience training.

ParticipantYay! She slept on it, and nailed both sides this AM! Video soon. Minor “ready dance”. She’s been doing the two bowl game for a couple weeks, so clear on that. Paul is getting a jump standard out of the barn. We will video that too. ☺️

ParticipantOh, and this morning, treat for tug swap, 100%. 🤷♀️ Puppies ☺️

ParticipantA quick one here. Wow, so much info! The first game, well that’s already her strong suit! On to the next game, pretty good, though we need more time with that, for sure. The third game… She knows to target her prop (pot holder, btw) but trying to engage, jazz her up gets me 100% hand biting 🙄🙄 This is a bitey litter. So, we will step back till maybe later today and attempt again. I will in the meantime spend various parts of the day watching last night’s live taping. I may gather more from that. I’m thrilled with the material so far!

ParticipantThis was the first time I tried with an object. Paul taught her a basic hand target a couple weeks ago. I think why she, a couple times, bypassed the paper to touch my hand.
bitterblue1954
ParticipantOkay I’ll work with that. Oh, believe me, treat for tug at this point isn’t a real go. Why I sometimes need to pry it out🤣 Other times she will drop if I say out, but that’s not usual. Tugging is higher value than any food. Here was cooked beef heart. Then I switched to some crunchy salmon things that were a novel thing.

ParticipantOkay. That was tedious. I haven’t put anything on YouTube since I did the trick dog and virtual rally things during the pandemic! So anyway. Here’s her foot touch.

ParticipantAh, I found it! I will post a couple videos here, of our pre games.

ParticipantHi,
Linda here, with Whippet pup, Kishka, who 17 weeks. She is from our recent litter. While I’ve trained and titled numerous Whippets for over 45 years, this is the first time I will devote my energies in training a pup for agility. It’s always been running sports first, then obedience and rally, then agility. Though pups here see a wobble board, tunnels and a plank as a litter, I’ve never made training my keeper pup in agility as a priority. So I’m really looking forward to this! The “pre-games” were fun. -
