ParticipantI think in both games I could have had more distance. I also opted to use the little tunnel, since it was easier to move into the yard, instead of taking this to the pasture.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
We finally got to our last games! Here are videos of our backside challenge, and several positions on the lateral lead outs. Backside took a bit of time to get comprehension. The video was from the second day, the lightbulb went off ☺️The lead outs went pretty well. Here stays are getting more solid all the time. In looking at the videos again, in some I see I might have been helping too much in bending. But overall she did seem to connect. Starfish will come sometime this week.

ParticipantGood morning,
Perfect description! Yes, I thought the MM was too close in watching the videos. I also agree, she could use more space between the set point jumps. So, still move out to 9’ and 12’? I will try again next week. I need to get to the other games next week too. Looking forward to it. We are trialing this weekend, so lots of sitting around for Kishka.
Thanks!bitterblue1954
ParticipantI haven’t had a chance to work the previous game, but that makes total sense, so will soon! So since I had jumps up here, I decided to try the accordion game. I will load them in order. The first one I did have repeat because the first time she just went yeehaw! 9 month old Whippet pup. She did settle, so we got it done. I’m not quite sure what you are looking for, but I’m sure you will explain it.
To me, it appeared bounce, bounce in all but the one 12’ one, #3, where there was 2 strides. We set 6’, 9’, 12’, 9’, 6’.

ParticipantSo our tunnel threadles were rather chaotic. Wind in her hair, indeed (sigh…). We did get some speedy elements, but we both had lapses of clarity. I am not at one with my verbals, that’s for sure. It would also be beneficial if I was more left/right savvy.
Yesterday we had the club run thrus, a tiny group, so we got a decent amount of ring time. We worked some stays, two super low jumps, and big tunnel. She was solid with treats and hard on her tug, the one I save just for in public, need extra focus, one. A minor run off, but considering the setting, good attention to her work. Better than today here with minimal distractions other than being outside in the cool air.

ParticipantI have a quick question before I start on the newest tunnel threadle game. Previously we taught a similar game, using “tunnel”, for direct approach, and “through!”, for entering from the opposite end. Could “through!”, be used as a verbal here? Instead of adding another verbal, which I might forget?

ParticipantOkay. I think this what was intended. Paul played this with Chitlin too, and she caught on pretty quick. I opted for some pieces of cooked chicken. Messy in one’s pocket however. I find the lotus ball is a bit clumsy on reward, and sometimes too exciting being more a toy than treat. I need to use treats right now to have less, “yeehaw!” Moments.

ParticipantI had an epiphany when thinking about these games. The get out one, was meant to be more of a proofing game. I will do that one again today, and have Paul video. Sometimes, just like the dog, you need to sleep on the training!

ParticipantHere is the rocking horse, advanced, I think.
The get out, we finally got after many tries, mostly failed by two things, me stepping it, though trying to go straight. Yeah, I forgot the bar! That would have helped. And my cookie throwing wasn’t working. She was just missing. I think this was getting it though. Two short ones.
Next was zig zag. This was a challenge with me trying to us both hands as well as hold a treat. Tug was worse! We succeeded eventually ☺️
We then did the transitioning game. I’m really not sure I got this right. I understand the correct execution, just the handling seemed wrong.
Lots of stuff here! We were busy.bitterblue1954
ParticipantLots of work this week! My handling was tested, which is always a challenge. Being able to work outside in the yard was good, but it has lots of smells, sounds and things, tough for a young dog. Excuse the road noise, they were working up there. The birds were noisy too! She’s working pretty well, despite her new freedom. Watching the live class helped a lot with executing a couple games. Paul didn’t video the baby level on the rocking horse, but we can if you’d like. On that one, I *think* we got the advanced level concept, I’m not sure!

ParticipantAh, gotcha. I will bring out the holey ball when I take her out next time and let her have a run on that ☺️ I just put one in the outside toy box that was in the yard. She played with it before she was laid up. Thanks. The main thing now is getting more running time so she can stretch out like she should.
bitterblue1954
ParticipantYes, I have a couple. One I use with a long tug. She likes the tennis ball more, and is keen to grab it in the house or outside. Really her favorite are small fluffy balls we got from Clean Run. She plays fetch every day with those. Even two at a time by herself. She has several games she plays, with us, and alone. She loves retrieving pretty much all balls. She really needs to learn to actually learn to run and use her body.
bitterblue1954
ParticipantGreat. I will go to 6’ next time. I think that will help her stride. A better stretch. I will also try the MM set up your suggested way, that make sense!
Here is a brief video of dead ball to tug. You can see that even without jumps she needs to learn to stretch out again. 4 months is so long 😕

ParticipantWe beat the rain. The first video is of the improved wind in your hair, which did include a rear cross, but Paul was only focused on the dog. Oh well. It went better!
Next I went to the ladder grids. Straight, then angled. She went well with that. This was about 5’ between jumps. It almost seems too short. She is now learning to run again, so boinks a lot. Though she’s certainly keen to go!
Her stays I getting better and her new release word seems to be clicking.bitterblue1954
ParticipantOne more thing. Would using the MM for the RC game be useful to get her to drive forward more? Instead of her having so much focus on me hold the the tug?
