Oh, excellent advice. We will do that today. That makes total sense. I think this will help both girls. Yes, Chitlin is Kishka’s dam. Paul ran her in a few trials last year and got a couple Qs his first time out. Including a jackpot run! She likes working with him, but now I’m training a puppy, and a handler ☺️ As well as Biscuit.
Tunnel threadles went pretty well too. Chitlin has never *loved* tunnels, now she is starting to. This will work better for her when we can get the big tunnel into the pasture. Timing on the MM “clicker” has been tricky for us both, but it works well for this. I do end the session with a tug with Kishka. Chitlin loses her mind if the inflation (her fave) is brought out too soon, we will work on that though.

    Greetings!
I know class isn’t in session now, and you are taking a break, but I’m just catching up a bit, so hope you don’t mind. For a couple days we have been training Kishka with her mother in the barn. Paul is working with Chitlin. He is doing the games I’ve recently done with Kishka. He’s happy with the results. I thought it might be tricky to work with Kishka having Chitlin there, but it’s working well. Today she managed to stay in her place (bed on a Klimb) while Paul and Chitlin worked. A very good sesssion. So… we tried the left and right yesterday, and got a bit of video today. It took Chitlin longer to learn than Kishka. We had a bit of a lost treat fumble in the beginning, but it went pretty well.

    Thoughts?

    Good morning,
I should have noted, I posted the videos in the reverse order. So by the time we were on the right side, we were both not as smooth as the left, as usual. She also did tug as hard because I hit her in the eye with the end of the tug 😕 She was back tugging better when I started with the tunnel. This is kind of a medium value tug. I will give it another go in a couple days, and see if we can get more distance.

As for her rest period, on lead period, at least a couple more months ☹️ Until the growth plates close. I will then get more X-rays, then start some rehab. This training has been really good for her, and I think is going a long way in making us a working team. I am still working my way through the entire class. Having the barn to work in helps a bit. Some flooring going down today, which I just realized is black! Doh! Videos will be tough.

Oh, no video, and I didn’t bring the MM down, but a bit of tunnel work, including some threadles using our new “through!”, word. She did great! She loves training in the barn where she can really move more. She wants to run *so* much 😕

Finally got a chance to try this. Backside slice, redux. Our right side was weakest.

She took to this pretty well. I know I was walking less parallel than is ideal. It was a pretty good first attempt. Now that I did it right. I think!

Doh! I just rewatched the backside slice video. Yep, even watching it twice already, and watched the live class ones, I totally got it wrong! If it’s not too miserable to get down to the barn, I will try it today! Her stays, in most situations, are good. But yes, she was getting kinda jazzed to move. More work.

Oops. Looks like I sent one vid twice. Here is the other tunnel one.

A few videos from today. Backside slice, both sides. Tunnel, plus a bit of a tunnel threadle, and new and improved rocking horse. Much better using your advice! Oh, in an attempt at using, “kiss, kiss, kiss” on the tunnel threadle? Veto! That got her jumping up trying to kiss. I’ll noodle with that. Anyway…

It’s a fairly distracting environment, with birds flying around in the adjoining loafing shed, plenty of old smells from 25 years of milking goats, feeding kids, you name it. But she’s still pretty focused on the training. Oh, “sniffari” has been her main activity in the yard and pasture since her injury, so we have that in spades. Two more months with no free running 😕

We also bought one of those shorter tunnels so did some work in the kitchen with that and Treat and Train. No video. Will get some when we take it to the barn. Much more useful than the big tunnel at this point!

Two games we worked on today. New location, in the barn, so mildly distracting. Rocking horse and deceleration. D cell with both treats and tug.

I’m pretty sure I was using the wrong hand at first on the rocking horse. My handling sucks. The deceleration went pretty well, Paul didn’t video any of the straight through pieces. I’m not sure why? Anyway… Trying to catch up!

Thanks! I see exactly what you are talking about. In watching the video on serps and thredles and moving from one to the other, I see perfectly what I need to be doing, position wise. Lots to work on. So much to catch up on.

So here are a few videos of things we worked on this week.
Treadles and tight turns. I am very one sided! It’s a real handicap in agility. I’m determined to work through that with Kishka.

We are both enjoying the training. Paul cleaned out the milking area of the barn ( former milking area ), and put a couple rugs down so I’m hoping we can have a bit more room for things like the tunnel (scrunched up some) and two barrels. It’s damn cold though!

Good morning. We are slowly following along. Doing appropriate parts. It’s been awhile, but I’ll get some videos later. One from last time, the tight turn around a pole, and the serpentine and threadle one. The latter, a lightbulb moment for me. Yes, I now get what each is! Ha! Yeah, I’m an agility lightweight. More later.

Oh, since we have only recently become friends, you wouldn’t be aware of all of the object holding here! Especially Biscuit, but the others too. Balancing things on their noses and heads too. Yes, they have all been posed holding their various ribbons ☺️ That will come with Kishka, in time. For now, “out”, is still a work in progress 😄

    Put your head down.

Yes, I’ve done quite a bit with the “shell game” sort of thing with the others. It was a huge part of the Dognition group we joined a couple years ago. I have a little toy she has used that is similar. I will give her a go at the cup way.
