ParticipantHi,
Here are a couple videos of our stays. She’s liking this game, and it’s perfect for our current situation. Resilience one in two locations today, so good for leash walking, with some focus.
The head down trick is getting pretty solid ☺️ Fun.

ParticipantHa! Timely. I currently have a tennis ball drying out in the dish rack. She put it in the water bowl 🙄 She likes hiding balls. So I will give this a go. We played with the resilience game. No distractions though, being out in the yard, on lead, was distracting enough today. So that will be a good one to continue. Never having read it before, I recently read Leash Uncontrolled a couple weeks ago.

ParticipantSo, where we are at. Still three legged at a trot, but getting around. So I did a bit. The “leg bumps”, was an easy thing for her to handle, but instead of using a tug, which would get her too cranked up, I did a two bowl version, which she enjoyed. I will play the resistance game today if it stays reasonable outside. Something on lead will fit.
We are have lots of fun with the little head down thing. Biscuit and Skiffle both do this, but I trained it differently. I’m using Kishka’s target with her. She didn’t grasp it at first, then was offering two paws on the little lid. Then today, head low before a treat each time. She just loves learning! When you are a bit of a training addict, it helps to have a puppy that is also. So we are soldiering on.

ParticipantThanks. We played with this a bit. She wasn’t quite getting it, but I will do more tomorrow. I will also give more training on a loose leash walk, which we do not have. And some attention work. Not really fun things, but essential. 😕

ParticipantMostly no running or jumping. On lead when outside. Hard tugging or hard turns would be out. I was rather shocked that she backed up several steps on three legs, but I wouldn’t encourage that.

Participant<huge sigh…> She just wants to do things. Following me everywhere. So we went a simple version of this, no throwing of treats. This is a new target for her, but she got it instantly. She has a great spirit 🥹 I think my stance might be off. Though I know, and like the video, I’ve never been much of a dancer. 🙄

ParticipantGood morning.
Great suggestions. We will work on that! For a couple days I’m going to first concentrate on getting a stronger drive to her prop. In the morning, after our breakfast, but before hers, she is pretty sharp and willing. She was getting real nice sends without me moving, then tossing the treat. We will do this for a day or two, then start off the other pieces with your suggestions. Thanks!
Oh, a minor note on breakfast. We let her in the dining room, no other dogs, to teach about some manners. What I have done for decades. Yes, I treat from the table, something most people frown upon. Otoh, my dogs don’t steal from the table. Anyway, she does the “two bowl” thing when I give her a bit. One side, sit, look at me, wait. I treat. Under the table to the other side, same. If I don’t have anything she goes back to the previous side. No treat? She looks for a toy in the basket ☺️ She is a very trainable pup, for sure. I just find it interesting she has channeled this game to a different one.bitterblue1954
ParticipantTiny video clips of the parallel, countermotion and rear cross. Paul was having some difficulties with doing videos. But you get the idea. We are getting there, but with some various issues.
I attempted only these things from one side mostly because of space issues. With the parallel one Paul was too close to video on the other side. Oh, lots and lots of retrieve the inflation, drop for a treat, today outside for exercise.

ParticipantJust a quick one here. Still having trouble with the last, three step prop, one. We are working on it, but giving it a break. Brought out the barrel for our new word, “wrap”, with treats first, then a tug. She took to that instantly! Just a very quick session, and speedy! Fun! I will let that simmer for a day or two. I’m just so happy with this! After 1/2 hour of limited success (all on me, btw) with our last prop, video/training piece.

ParticipantGood morning,
Though it is obviously not apparent in my videos, or I’m inconsistent, probably both, I use “bite” for a grab the tug. I use “get it” for all thrown objects, toys and treats. I think she is just not waiting for that. I think more consistency on my part is needed. We’ve bred some very intense dogs for a long time. Some *very* busy ones too. Part of the selection for generations. Kishka is really over the top in drive. She’s very bright and loves training, but is challenging to focus. Why we are doing a, “less than structured”, puppy agility class. Just to gain some focus and learn to be calmer in a stimulating environment. Some will come with age, I know. I just need to control some of this energy. I will attempt this exercise today with a less exciting tug (today, it changes daily) and more exciting treat, and try this again, and maybe the barrel too, with both. Thanks. I’m glad I have all these trading things for this busy pup! Plus to improve my handling!bitterblue1954
ParticipantHere are the videos for the latest game. This was very challenging and difficult in a small space. We added a rug and yoga mat, which helped a bit. I know, my timing is really off. Paul mentioned this several times watching before he did the videos. The session ended a bit sooner than I planned as she jumped, got a tooth (extra sharp puppy one)into my finger and slashed it open. Good thing I have a proper dog first aid case! Anyway…

ParticipantWith the wrapping, yes, she was tugging less than usual as she’d been out for a good run, my plan! I will do more treats along with the tug next time. She is understanding the concept though.
As for a word cue, so, “check left” and “check right”? Seems when I was working with my friend Leslie, she mentioned using check with her BC, but it wasn’t in a good enough context at the time. I have heard people use “wrap”. I think that works, as it’s not a word I’d use otherwise. I’ll start doing that. We are giving the barrel a rest today. We have been working on the blind, deceleration, go, go, thing. That hurt my head! I have watched the video five times! Plus all the live stuff and really struggled. With and without the pup. Videos to come.bitterblue1954
ParticipantWith the backing, yes, I try to get the treat head level, because higher causes a sit. I need to be more aware of that. She also keys off the one on the ground first. That was a very good start for this. Now if I do it, she knows we are backing, not sitting, spinning or going down. She really likes this, and I’m having fun with it too. In 50 years of training dogs, I’ve never taught one to back! I will try other things at some point, but don’t want to push it too much.
bitterblue1954
ParticipantI tried a bit more backing ( beep, beep ☺️ ) on a noisier surface. She gets this.

ParticipantHappy Thanksgiving! Holidays don’t stop puppy training ☺️ I let her have a good run, retrieving her ball, and inflation (with tugging), so we have that particular lesson in spades. Ball retrieving. Stationary ball to tug. Discs. She’s always been solid on her retrieving and tugging, since about 6 weeks. Anyway… after some exercise I tried her with the tug and wrapping. Yes, less crazy, so she can learn. Only biting once 🙄
