ParticipantSo we started with turning on the plank…I need to start posture on the plank too. Holding still will be good for him.
Then went to some backing up. He did well, but was getting amped, which meant a little greedy with his teeth. Thanks for the timely chaining reminder 🙂
Then we did some perch work before I started losing fingers in his enthusiasm. On to wrapping — which I thought went well. I ended up just removing the bowls all together instead of fading, just because I use a container for treats with him so he was having a hard time letting them go. And I thought the behavior was fairly strong. I know I’ll have to start using containers as distraction, but don’t think we are there yet.
And tug…I purposefully left it for last and was glad I did. You can see where he got my toy (ouch) but I was glad that me just stopping the game had the (eventual) effect of him laying down and asking “what do I need to do to restart the game”.

ParticipantAnd our wrap…which I think is coming along marvelously!!! 🙂

ParticipantShort clip of a very impatient puppy and where we are on backing up 🙂
And a short clip of a goat (my orienteer partners didn’t complain toooooo much LOL)
With the toy game…I evidently was clueless on what his favorite toy was LOL

ParticipantOMG…he is so cute. And those legs…he is going to have an incredible stride!!! I can’t wait to see how he grows and matures. You guys are so fun to watch and learn from!

ParticipantSo…it was in the 50’s. We went outside. My camera placement could be better 🙂 But here are some blind crosses and drive forward to toy.
Here is a quick one of the prop farther away outside. I don’t like it outside because it’s hard to see. Also that was not a squirrel moment…it was a cat moment. My cat was stalking him. Yes they wrestle a lot LOL The one blind cross at the end–the reinforcer was wrong…I practiced with just me and then shot the previous video. Overall I was happy with how he did outside 🙂 Although food drops are hard outside!

ParticipantFor being young and clueless about his back legs he manages to stay at the safely gangly stage rather than the dangerous he’s going to kill himself stage 🙂 He gets on a ton of stuff when we are orienteering (large downed logs, benches, rocks, wobbly scary bridges, not so big downed logs) but no videos since we are working on making time. But a large repetoire is there 🙂

ParticipantOK…so I said to myself that was stupid and got this quick training session in yesterday. I have to dig out my real plank, but the step worked well for now. Definitely need to focus on some rear end awareness (Ted—WTF? I have rear legs????)
And I definitely wasn’t clear on what I was shaping with the quick back up lesson–on the platform or backing up…but he started to get it despite me. Criteria will be clearer today 🙂Beth MacLehose
ParticipantI can’t wait for time to see the new stuff!!! School is crazy busy with paperwork so may be later tonight or tomorrow. But, since there will be no videos today (although I’m sure I am more than using up my video time LOL) I do want to let you know how much I am enjoying this course and your feedback. It has really helped Ted and I, and is probably going down as one of my most favorite puppy courses–in person or virtual–ever! Thank you!

ParticipantShe’s the cutest thing ever and you are a great team…love following your journey!!!

ParticipantSo we practiced calm licking first (loved how he got on his perch and stayed there right away) and I had to laugh at the unintentional chain I had going of peanut butter must be followed by free and food in the container LOL. Then, since he was in a good place, we tried wraps. I intentionally kept them low key and slow to save the fingers! But was very happy with them for a first time.
Had some technical difficulties dropping kibble from higher up and it bouncing out LOL And then onto some prop work 🙂 (btw, Ted gets very excited listening to this play on youtube AND I think Hamilton is a cue to work for him LOL)
Beth MacLehose
ParticipantThank you for the lick idea. After playing around, peanut butter on a spoon seemed to work best. Here I am mixing it up with kibble from one hand, pb spoon in the other 🙂
The tug is also coming along fabulously. He is still more food than tug motivated, but I have had food in the picture, released to food and then had him come back to the tug. Wavy crazy hands and almost aways goes for tug now 🙂 (btw–hating youtube…took all day for this video to process…all the rest I uploaded processed after I trimmed them in less than an hour!)

ParticipantHere is our wrap game and our prop game. Happy with how both are coming (these are just out takes LOL)
I have done the prop up to about 5 or 6 feet, but can’t get video in the hallway where we do it 🙂
Beth MacLehose
ParticipantSo I started to play the focus forward game and realized I had a problem with the toy play 🙂
So we backed up so that he actually grabbed and kept the toy when I wasn’t tugging.
I don’t think it will take long!-

ParticipantSo, for now I’m skipping the deceleration/wrap until we can do it with me enjoying food taken from fingers 🙂
Here are our prop (I kept it short because horrible camera placement…but he is doing really well on the left side, right side is harder. Paw on barbell is coming along nicely.
And the back and forth game is also coming along well. I was able to stand up…but bad editing you don’t get to see it 🙁

ParticipantTed makes me laugh. So I froze a kong and this morning got it out to start using for treats. Had turkey gravy mixed in with yogurt….super yummy. Dogs had been having this and enjoying it since Turkey day. Ted pops on his perch. I use my marker word and hold out the kong and Ted’s all like “yo…what’s that? I want the good piece of kibble!” and runs around the room looking for a piece of kibble!!! So we trained licking the kong to get a piece of kibble 🙂 🙂 I know the dog determines the reinforcer….but come on Ted LOL 🙂
