ParticipantWelcome! I won’t be able to respond to your posts going forward because you signed up for an observer spot, and I am glad you took a moment to introduce yourself!

ParticipantThank you for the videos. Super helpful! There is a significant difference in his behavior between home and a trial. Do you have any from class or a seminar?
I encourage to stop trailing for a few months. There is a lot of work to do between home and trial performance. This course will definitely help!

ParticipantHi! Yes, I won’t be able to respond to posts to observers, and thank you for introducing yourself! You will definitely get a lot out of reading the experiences of the other participants. I’m glad you’re here!

ParticipantHi Sue! Thank you for registering for this course! Are you an auditor or have a working spot? In addition, have you considered working with a veterinary behaviorist? Several students in this course have already been working with one. It sounds like your dog has gone through significant trauma and that can shape the way the brain develops. Medication can help with the learning process, making behavior modification more effective.
Either way, the exercises will help. I’m glad you’re here!

ParticipantHi Susan!
Welcome! Which veterinary behaviorists have you worked with?
And thank you for the videos. Super helpful! The exercises, games, and concepts you will be learning and building upon in this course will make a difference. It will take time, more than just the 5 weeks of this course. But keep at it even after this course is over. Avery’s behavior will improve!

ParticipantHi Donna! Welcome!
Can you please create a new thread and copy and paste these posts in that thread? I can then respond and we can have an ongoing conversation throughout the course in that thread. 🙂

ParticipantHi Andrea! Welcome!
I encourage to pause on trailing for the next few months while you work through her issues. I’ve worked with a lot of dogs with similar issues that manifest in the same way. To continue trialing while addressing the issues will be like spinning your wheels in the mud.
How is she in class? At seminars? How is she walking through town? How is she when you have lots of people over?

ParticipantHi Sara! Welcome! I am in northern NJ too! Generalized Anxiety Disorder is something I have a lot of experience with. I am happy to know you are working with a Vet Behaviorist. Is it Dr. Emily Levine?

ParticipantPoor girl! Pain can cause fear-related behaviors, such as avoidance, even when the pain is gone. I’m happy you’re here!
