ParticipantTanner has been offering that behavior on the downstairs indoor teeter when I say the cue, of course he offers many of the behaviors on this teeter I think to just to get my undivided attention ( wink wink) .. That is probably the big thing I was missing and couldn’t figure out. Thank you ..
Thank you for all your Help again this year.. I feel much more confident than I did last year , when we parted .. I luv these added games and information. You provided this year. I enjoyed all your feedback and input it has been sooo helpful. You are my teeter angel.. Will miss our time together.
This year I already had a couple people ask me about this class and told them they really need to take it with you and do the working spot. Your feedback is FANTASTIC and I couldn’t have moved Tanner forward if it wasn’t for your feedback AND ENCOURAGEMENT. I will continue to send people to you!! YOU ARE A ROCK STAR INSTRUCTOR!!!
Stay safe and healthy
Big Hugs I send to you for everything you have done to help me and Tanner.

ParticipantGood Friday to you Bobbie,
I was excited to try this as something different but I think I am missing a step somewhere.. Never thought about adding this to contacts .. Its a good idea!! I will revisit the videos again. I included YIC/ control issue game and my attempt at doing it on the plank. Was hoping to include a picture of Tanner sitting on the printer as we looked at the new homework but can’t seem to get the picture on here. Just to had a spice for your Easter weekend. wink wink
If you see it please relay what I am missing,, I a baffled !!

ParticipantBobbie,
Been trying to capture Tanner all week racing from bottom of teeter and giving the bow at the end and waiting in that position till I treat him.. Was able to capture part of this although not as awesome when no phone in hand ( lol) but he is offering it on the indoor teeter frequently.. when he hopes on from the side I say ” it has to be done the proper way to get the treat” so he goes down and turns around .. Just couldn’t wait to send this to you since I finally got a patial video !!!Will be glad to get the outdoor teeter up so he has to do the longer board..
hope you enjoy it..

ParticipantWhen I first read this I thought ok , then I started thinking about it.. Then I realized I am not understanding the reasoning behind all this to get to the finished behavior product of running to end of board and bowing. Since I wont have you much longer to guide me through this. So lots of Why ??’s ..
Mountain climber game- Why is it important for Tanner to know in this game the board doesn’t move?? How then do we transfer the non movement to actual movement???
Why is it so important for Tanner to associate my hand on the board?? When would I move away from doing that behavior? What behaviors would he indicate to me that he is ready for another step and what specifically are those steps??Once I have 100 percent of him going to end of board and not jumping off to the side??Either at the club or in trial setting? What would be the behavior indicators he would give me that it was time to start giving him space and eventually him being able to do this at a distance? I have had several trials that sending the dog to the teeter at a distance is being done.
I want to continue to build his confidence , trust in me and himself with this obstacle.. What is the best path to do so and why??
I am trying to think of as many things as possible before we leave you so I can continue to build what I have going with him and still maintain my own confidence in training him with this If you think of something I might not have thought of please include it that I might run into with him.
Will come up with something to video to make sure I am on the right track with adding something in the middle of board so doesn’t move..
Thanks

ParticipantHi Bobbie,
I wasn’t sure were I really should
Put my hands for the mt climb game and
Wanted to get your feedback if I was not
Doing it correctly but it didn’t help that he was beating to the other end of the board😂😂😂 before this class
Ends please direct me on moving forward
With Tanner. I am thinking driving to
End of board without jumping off more than 50% of time.. would like to see him drive to 💯 % of the time. Plus best way to transfer all this to club and then one day into trials..Mary BonDurant
ParticipantHi Bobbie,
Hope you are staying healthy and safe.. This week I got started thinking about doing the games in different parts of the house.. Then I thought I have never worked Tanner upstairs so I started cleaning out one of the rooms that we store things, especially clothing in.. So These videos are the first time working with Tanner in this room. I improvised with the flat board since I didn’t want to tear down my indoor teeter and its ssssoooo muddy here I haven’t pulled out any agility equipment yet. So I took a step back with the flat board, I used a board that I had used when doing equipment foundations with him. Then I went to his Training board that is raised. I was wasn’t sure what his deal was with the bucket.. The bucket I have worked hard on as far as value since I use it ALOT with training distance work. I wasn’t’ sure if he was confused using it in such close quarters or being distracted because his brother Buddy was banging n making noise on the other side of the door. Like I said I have never worked Tanner anywhere upstairs. I was trying to get both assignments in to see if there was anything that jumped out to me or you. The raised board did move and make noise but he seemed to adjust his confidence , especially once I put a blanket on the chair. Besides doing more repetitions. As always look forward to your input. And greatly appreciate it you extending the class another week.Mary and Tanner

ParticipantThanks Bobbie,
I can do that moving the board around
the house.. that other dog is our Buddy he is only 5 months younger than Tanner.. Buddy is fearless on the teeter , his struggle his weaves, so we have been working on the entrance game to the weaves .. Buddy loves close handling while Tanner loves distance.. so at least I don’t get too board working on the same things with both boys🤣. Got my list out today so I can work on their weaknesses. You would luv Buddy everything is a game.. he is a happy go lucky fella who luvs EVERYONE!!Mary BonDurant
ParticipantHi Bobbie,
Its been a extremely busy week just dealing with decisions concerning our dog club. Now that dog club decision’s have been made and Illinois Governor has us in lock down I can really concentrate with Tanner on this homework. With that being said I am working with Tanner at home again. I am disappointed since he was making such huge strides working at the club and on the club teeter. However since this homework assignment is what I really feel I need to focus on with him What an opportunity to really build his confidence on this specific behavior concerning the teeter.
I have noticed this week that when I touch his chest before releasing, he is putting pressure against my hand at times. (smile) From what you had said in the video that is what we are wanting.. Look forward to your input as always and any changes or tweaking I should do with this game with him. I don’t know if you can see in the video but the board does have some movement to it when I elevated it up on the step. He didn’t seemed fazed at all with that. I also went with the longer board I have because Tanner was offering behavior before I could get a chance to do anything with my smaller board.as you will see or hear its more challenging and loud to work with Tanner (lol)

ParticipantMorning Bobbie,
Thank you for that input. That was what I was needing to hear to make me feel better about how to deal with this behavior and when to move forward with Tanner. Its been a huge challenge/frustration for me personally… Then you put up end behavior games.. I had that aha!!light bulb click on moment. This is where I am lacking in building the teeter confidence with Tanner.
I send you a HUGE HUGE HUG!!!! Now so many variables are clicking for me!! Cant wait to work on this and get your feedback!!

ParticipantMorning Bobbie,
It has been a wild weekend with our first trial of the year. I can report that Tanner did do the teeter twice on Saturday unfortunately didn’t get it on video.. We partied when he did the teeter however I was able to have my husband video a couple times so you can see what he is doing the rest of time to me. In one run Tanner stood in the middle of board tail wagging I slowly lowered it he jumped off the side and as soon as I put board on the ground the little scamp ran up and got into position for the games we have played ( yes I chuckled , shook my head , told him that he was good boy but we were not playing that game right now and moved on) I honestly felt that he was confident but felt that this was a game that I am not thrilled with (or testing me to see how much I would tolerate with this behavior) It was a challenge for me running both boys only having a couple dogs in between and they run soo completely different. But one I know I need to continually work on switching my brain for which boy I am running. I also knew I was late in getting my verbal cues out to Tanner besides getting myself in position to give him more space. I also was aware that he had moments of distraction, which is all part of getting back into the routine besides this building has loads of verbal distractions. I hope that you can see something with his behavior in the video’s to help me with training and how to handle these behaviors as we continue to progress especially in trials. Thanks

ParticipantHi Bobbie,
To answer your question about Tanner becoming more comfortable with more reps.. I have noticed this especially this year. I had a point this past summer when I wasn’t sure if or when to add more challenge. When I looked back at our discussions last year you repeatedly relayed let him tell me. So I incorporated in doing only 3 or 4 reps then we moved on to something else to work on. Then all of a sudden he would decide to run back to teeter and we would do 3 or 4 more reps end the training while training session especially if it was positive behavior I was wanting. Then the next day we would begin again. I slowly increased the # of reps until He was running to the teeter and doing them before I even got around the corner of the house then I would increase the challenge. Then we would start over doing the same routine again. Will continue to work this..

ParticipantMorning ,
I started of with a review as soon as we entered building. Then tried something new ,a different deliverance of treat, I didn’t like the results as well. So we started on the rebound game. started with low and then I couldn’t find anything in the club that would slowly ease the board. so the adjustment was a lot more than what I wanted but we got it to work. Tanner I felt definitely was working hard in his confidence with board raised. I all total couldn’t have been more proud of him. He went right to work when we walked in none of this hyper overload, weird behavior ect that we have talked about. I am sure my body language isn’t communicating something correctly to him for him to hop on board like your video’s show but I am a work in progress (lol).. Tanner was focused and was just really trying hard. I couldn’t ask any more from my little man on this session. I thought he did very well !! I could tell he was not sure at times from his tail and body language but as long as he was trying I was trying to make it a happy fun game with his Vienna chicken.. If you see something different than me please let me know . Each video is the progression we did in that session of about 10 minutes.. I had a hard time getting him to play in between takes he was really in work mode yesterday. We have our first trial this weekend for the new year. Its teacup agility. I always use this first trial to see what areas we need to work revisit and work on. I don’t put any expectations on the first trial. Mainly its just a nice way to warm back up into the groove of trialing. I am going to let him give me what he wants to on the teeter not going to pressure the issue since we are doing the class with you.
Look forward to your input and insightfulness and anything I need to tweak, focus more on ect..
Have a good day!!

ParticipantTanner has come along way since last year.. I worked with him 3 to 4 times a week last year at home especially. I am so devoted to getting him to be a confident teeter boy!!
The only time Tanner gets this treat
Is when we are only working on anything for the teeter at the club,it’s Vienna sausage/chicken. That comes in the little cans. He does ❤️ this treat.. I started out using it at home only when we worked with anything with/on the teeter. Then I switched the value treat at home and use this at the club. Another trainer suggested it to me and it seemed to really work. Will continue to work on me standing and Tanner jumping into position with teeter being raised a little bit at a time.. appreciate your feedback 😊
Hope things calm down for you with this virus.. stay safe from it…

ParticipantMorning Bobbie,
We worked at the club last night and Tanner was sooo well behaved , enthusiastic and the total eager joy I luv to work with. One video is a little longer than we should have done but we had just gotten there and I couldn’t believe the difference in his behavior in less than 10 minutes. I am sure I am doing something off not getting him to jump on the one end like you showed in your video for lesson 4 bang game. I would like to share with you something funny, concerning Tanner and the class I was teaching last night. The first night I focus with the green newbie agility students the reinforcement zone.. I had Tanner Demo and after we did a second turn he took off and ran into the small training room ( the gate was up around the teeter) and he started crying ..first time he has EVER done this.. (cried about not getting on the teeter) He came back when called, but all the students wanted to know why he was crying they could hear him , Which gave me a great opportunity to explain why treating heavily for the behavior when learning pays off with building excitement, confidence and desire for obstacles.. I touched my heart and funny bone and wanted to share with you.
As always look forward to your input.Mary and Tanner

Participantto answer this question (Third video- I don’t think he needs to go out to go to the bathroom, necessarily. It might be a learned behavior to avoid being in the building. Does he do this anywhere else? Such as a trial? Or a seminar?) nope he doesn’t do this anywhere else but the club.
okay can do that its been awhile since I had him do them away from home, in the club ect.. I just appreciate input thank you loads…
