Prop game advancement. I can tell I don’t really have countermotion until the end.
We having trouble finding shade and room to run. She was a trooper.
Thank you.

ParticipantHi.
Trying to advance barrel work here.
Had to start with cups to refresh the game. And we’re trying a different time of day. Getting hot here.
I think I’m going to find a different object that might work better.
Sorry you can’t see her before each rep.
Thank you. ‘Barbi

ParticipantHey.
I am so glad you can see what I cannot, like her head needs to be in a neutral position with her jaw parallel to the ground. This makes perfect sense, but not something I would have looked for or thought was necessary.
I have a wooden box I can sit on that may be just the right height.
So when working with the mat, I’m understanding you to say have her get on with all 4 feet to start before she comes forward to me, to then step back.
Will try all your suggestions.
Thanks. B

ParticipantTracy,
The good news is that I’m starting think in the moment of the session, exactly what you’re telling me to do with your feedback. Or I can see it on the video and anticipate what your feedback will be.
After I started this session I thought, oh I should have tugged first. I could tell I was using Yip prematurely or incorrectly.
So I’m starting to understand what is good and what could be better.
On resilience markers, it’s a fairly new concept to me to have so many words. Not quite sure how to go about it, but will give it a go!
Thanks. B

ParticipantHi.
I watched Mochi’s temperament test in person and she did great at retrieving. She’s constantly bringing me toys to play, say even when I’m doing dishes.
But I’ve found I have to cultivate it. We practice just retrieving all sorts of things…ball, tug, dumbbell, disintegrated stuffed animal. I’ve observed several things. She doesn’t want to just give it to me, not even the ball, she wants me to play with it with her, tug, when she brings it back. When she brings it, I need to move my had in palm down on the ground, and get hold of part of it and play, even the ball.
If all dogs are playing ball at the same time, she mimics what they do.
If we start with the object together, and I throw it, say ‘Get It’, she will. But if there’s an object just on the ground somewhere, if I say go ‘Get it’, she usually doesn’t respond.
I don’t think she fully understands what I want, Go Get that Thing and bring it to me, and don’t know how important it is to get this skill.
My other other dogs do it and I can even tell them to ‘find it’ and they will. Not sure how I trained that.Thank you. B

ParticipantHere’s how far we’ve gotten with wing wrap. We did the steps you said and used a cone before this.
I’m now putting the cups down preloaded with treats already in them so I don’t miss a wrap.
We had some neighborhood noise going on today. So I just waited for her to choose to come back to the game. And then she seemed to be happy play, even getting into a nice rhythm.
Thank you.

Here’s a couple of backing up.
Funny, I was in the laundry room with her today and just walked towards her and she backed up beautifully. Not even meaning her to do so. Go figure 😉
I’m wondering if our It’s Your Choice had any to do with her downing. When we played that game sometimes she would down and back up in a down. 🤪
With the mat, she normally goes crooked when her feet hit the mat. Sometimes she’ll walk on it to seemingly give 2o2o.
And. Don’t normally have the radio going on in the background, good distraction. Our it could have been she could hear the other dogs. I have to put them in the car in the garage when we train 🤪. They’re none too happy about it.
Thank you.

ParticipantHi.
For backing up, sometimes she backs into a down or sit.
Perhaps I shaped the wrong thing?

ParticipantHi again.
For some reason the mechanics for the Toy Race Game really threw me. Trying to figure out which toy worked best, treat or push back.
I didn’t realize til I watch this that I pushed her back SO Hard. After this she was leery of me reaching for her and I didn’t know why.
Redirecting her with food was difficult for us. So I’ll have to try another way to get ahead of her.
I forgot I wasn’t supposed to let her have the toy when I won. But she still seemed to drive harder to the toy afterward.
Thank you. Barbi.

ParticipantHi. Here’s plank work with the dog walk.
I forgot to deliver the treats on the plank instead from my hand so she’s not looking at me. 🤪. Even though she fell off, she got right back on and seemed happy to do so.
Definitely having trouble with my mechanics today.
Thank you.
BarbiBTW. Thank you for your patience with me. I know I’m repeating mistakes and you have to tell me the same thing more than once. Working on it.

ParticipantGood morning. Progressing the wobble disc here.
We’ve gone through a few phases..large towels so no movement, rolled up towels, folded towels, flat towels which is here. It does make a little noise with no towels so I think we need to be solid with this before no towels.
I can see watching the vids what you’re talking about with her body. She’s twice as big and heavy now, so that changes the whole ball game.
Also. I’m now setting up the props as much as possible first. Then starting tug outside the room and tugging her into the room to try and make the transitions quicker. It worked pretty well here.
Thank you.

ParticipantWe’re back.
Another quick round of Planktronics.
I raised the height 2x as much as yesterday.
Also, I’ve found I need to show her the treat before I toss it away so she can find it quickly.
I take my time putting plank down cuz I don’t want to scare her with it.
I’d like to take this outside with my DW plank on the ground? It actually sits a few inches above the ground, but not much more than the plank today.
BTW. I tried to toss Baby Gold Fish for her because they sit up high on the turf and easily seen. But even those are too big and take too long for her to eat. 🤪
Thank you.

ParticipantHi again.
Beginning of wing wrap with object here. This is a flat crate in it’s bag.
Thinking too hard about her left and right in the beginning. And had to make it easier at first, then move bowls back. I thought she got better as we went. 😎
Although my transitions aren’t as quick as I’d like them to be, I’m slowly feeling more comfortable with the mechanics.
Thank you.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Bone goat game redo here.
I deflated the bone, got on the ground, and tried to be still and let her think.
It seemed to go better than yesterday’s session.
Thank you.

ParticipantHi Tracy.
Here’s an update on Resilience. Four super short vids of our outing. Turn up the sound😉.
Took Mochi back to the mall and stumbled upon a “Bubble Fest” 🤪 for kids in the courtyard. She sat on my lap in the shade and observed, no treats. A couple little girls wanted to pet her. Mochi was so happy, engaged, tail wagging, confident.
She was only uncomfortable with one thing..the second little girl reached over the top of Mochi to hug her. Mochi turned around and put her head under my arm. But then turned right back around to re-engage. Adults can bend over her and pet, pick her up and she loves it. She’s uncomfortable with young kids/toddlers doing the same for now. I don’t have kids. But even with this I’m thrilled with her acceptance of these environments. I may want to do therapy work with her someday.
Also took her to class with Kodie, Cracker was there. Amy with Tango is in the class too. Mochi did great with all the people and other dogs. She sat on the ground and was fascinated when all the dogs ran and only barked when I ran my adult dog. She tugged with me just to the side of the course with other dogs running, and even tugged with Kodie, Kodie bending over the top of her. 😎
Thank you.
