    Hi.

Thank you for catching my inconsistencies.

With my other dogs, for an offside tunnel, I use my dog side arm and tap my leg
to pull and push. And for a Don’t Take the Front side of the jump, I use my offside arm across my body. So I guess when I’m a bit stressed for the Right thing to do, I revert back to that.

I do think the outside arm is much clearer for all of my dogs for both offside tunnel entrance and back side 360 of jump, after all it is the same Motion for them…..Don’t take the Obvious, Come to me, and then Turn Away from me for the obstacle.

So I will concentrate and practice this new, for me, way for Mochi and my other dogs.

For the running more, I don’t have much space with 18ft to run. So should I meet her at the exit of the tunnel? Or/and move the jumps out farther? Or/and use my longer tunnel?

I will work on, practice the proper Verbals and timing. My other dogs don’t understand Left means Take the Jump and then turn left. I never taught them that kind of commitment. If I say Left etc before a jump they are likely to turn Left before the jump.

So my timing for Mochi’s Verbals is new to me. But we are enthusiastic to have that kind of commitment from her. 😎

Will reward when I stop. She does get that Hard Angry voice. In the moment, My intuition says reward. But I must admit I’m guilty of trying to Save Time during the video…giving her the tug and getting it back for a treat takes precious seconds of our 2 min time.

Yes, she sees tunnel bags in class. Never had a need for them at home. I put the wings behind the tunnel for her because she doesn’t like it when it rolls.

Weirdly in my private today, I asked her to take a tunnel and she went to the side a few times before going in. Once she went in, however, she was fine with it, and did it multiple times. It was shorter than at home, bright blue, and brand new, practically just out of the box. She’s taken other tunnels in different class. Weird.

On another note. I believe you once said for dogs that bark a lot, you can put the bark On Comand and then Stop on Command. Well, I finally discovered a specific noise I can make that will trigger her to bark on that noise. So can you please tell me how to cultivate that into Bark On Command and Stop on Command. And, oddly enough, it when I say
    ‘Achoo’. 🤪

Also, I’m not finding how much longer we can submit videos?

    Thank you. B

Thank you again. See you in class. B

    Hello again.

We tried the Smiley Face Threadle. And, I don’t know if we did it right, because it seemed to work🤪

I practiced the patterns before I did them with Mochi, and still messed up. Ugh.

And when I’m concentrating So hard on correct verbals, which way she’s turning etc, I don’t show a Lot of enthusiasm.

    Fortunately She has enthusiasm. 👍🏻

The wings were 18ft from the ends of the tunnel.
My verbal for off side tunnel is MISS. Wraps are RUM and LUV. I think I threw in too many verbals, though.
And maybe at times, pulled to push. Should I run/walk more of a straight line for the off side tunnel?

    Thank you! B

    Hello T,

We tried the Zigzag w/ poles.

My poles are 4Ft long. I measured 6feet from Jump Cup to Jump Cup.

We’ve been having a bit of trouble with her holding her stay, overall. 😔

    Thank you. B😎

    Hi there.

Hope you’re home safe and sound. And Congratulations again🥳! There’s Nothing like the feeling of coming in First at a National event. You’ll cherish it forever.

In our last class I believe you mentioned not to start on teeter training until they’re older?? Something about it being too hard on their bodies.

Mochi never warmed up to the small wobble disc. So, I got out my Large one and let Paris and Posh show her how fun it could be. I generously gave all 3 at once cookies for running onto to it, turning, balancing, getting off, back on. Then tugged with Posh and Mochi on it together. Then progressed to Mochi herself playing this Bang game, which is what you see in the video.

She has not been on any teeter, is this game too hard on her body? She now Loves her wobble disc. Can’t wait to get on it when I bring it out of the closet.

    Thank you. B😎

    Update:

We also did this again tonight, and added Tandem turns. I thought it went well, although she doesn’t always turn around the wing tightly. Didn’t video.

    ……………………..

    Hi again.

    Lap turns here.

I know I’m not supposed to back up, but seems unavoidable at times.

Don’t know whether it’s better to use food or toy with this. Food takes less time, but she likes toy better.

    Thank you!

BTW. If you decide to wait for Pup 3 or not do a 2a, it’s ok. Just working through the Pup 2 lessons again would give me plenty to do. 😎

    Update:

We tried this again tonight with some changes and we did much better.

Changed the toy to the little HR on tug. When I throw it it’s harder for her to snatch it and run off. I can squish it up in my hand with only one extender. And I can tug her back to the start with her feet mostly on the ground. 😎

    Kept the wing in close.

And I noticed when I said OUT she kept heading for the Bar on the ground that was marking my running path. That bar looks just like the bar on the ground in between my wing jump. So I changed that out for a DARK weave pole and voila. She started getting it consistently. 👍🏻

    Didn’t take videos tonight.

    …………………….

    Hi.

For some reason I’m embarrassed to post these. We can’t quite figure it out. Maybe because we haven’t practiced this line with our prop enough, or not recently.

I think we got better in video 3, I moved the wing closer and went slower. Although I can see I tend to veer in a bit to make it easier for her.

It’s frustrating when I can’t figure it out.

Thank you for taking time to look at these.

    Hello.

For several reasons, high of 102 today, we tried morning again, 80 degrees. Mochi had the day off yesterday 😎

She didn’t want to bring the toy back from the Get Go. Not like her. But with treats and a matching toy, she did. Got her super wet. She definitely wanted to play. Kept things very short.

Of course our right went better than left.

Weird. Eighteen feet sounds So long, but seemed really short for this game.
I measured out with my trusty tape measure and blocked off into thirds with visual markers. Practiced before I got her outside.

On both sides I felt myself not just signaling a turn, but a complete stop…planting both feet, waiting for her to commit to the jump and then a quick turn. Ugh.
No wonder she barks at me.

On her left turn side, I had a couple bad GoGo throws. So we started with the wrap, and ended with a Go Go.

Later, around 5pm we revisited this, 98 degrees but again in the shade felt cooler.
I tried to figure out my footwork a bit better, just slowing then pivoting on my front foot, instead of planting both feet, when she was surely committed. It felt much better, more fluid. Didn’t get it on tape.

    Hope you’re having fun.

    Thank you. B.

    Hi.

So, weird, here Winter is our best season for training and trialing. 🤪

Do you think I will have enough space to do Pup 3?

    Report:

Today we had an excellent private with Amy Mescher. I took ‘Paris’ and it was a totally different lesson. We spent a lot of time playing’Pattern Games’, sometimes 3 way, to get Mochi to focus on me instead of the environment. At one point Amy’s yard guys came through the fence gate in our direction. Mochi had a nanosecond of WHAT?? And then started wagging her tail. Paris had seen them first and had no reaction. Amy and I picked up my training stuff and took both dogs to her front yard. Mochi passed the guys no problem wagging her tail.
If Posh had been there it would have been a totally different and negative experience.

So, in other news. Amy has kindly agreed to trying semi-privates with my Friend and her Corgi and Me and Mochi. And we will take turns working our pups while the other is resting/learning to be calm while watching another dog work on their mat.

This seemed like a good alternative to my switching out my adult dog with Mochi. So Mochi can have my full attention for the hour.

Thank you for your suggestions. Good luck and have fun!

    Hi.

    Just a few questions.

Will there be a Max pup 3?

Do you know when it will start?

Do you think Mochi and I will be ready to move on to Max Pup 3?

    Thank you.
    Safe travels. B

Yesterday we didn’t do any other training. She was quite spent.

So tried this tonight. We did practice the stay in front of the jump before filming, but did Not practice any other part of this.

I was pretty flabbergasted that she just seemed to Get it. Latent learning here?

    Thank you. B. 😎

We tried the Zig Zag again. Oops. Went too long.

While setting up she noticed the kids and was barking at them a bit. I just ignored it. And when I was ready to play this game, she was ready. I think she turned her head towards them during one of her stays.

Question. Do I have the toy in the correct hand? It felt awkward like I should be turning with her and rewarding with the hand closest to her.

    Thank you. B

    Hi.

I’ve been trying to do this facing away from her like a lead out, and reward with the proper hand.

I’ve found sometimes if I look at her with eye contact she comes to me for a treat instead of getting the toy. Maybe I didn’t say Get It and she was very hungry. 😉

Don’t think I caught that on video.

    Thank you. B

I love all the scientific information you give me. Explains a lot.
And in a weird way, for these principles, similar to flying an airplane 🤪
    Expending energy and all that.

Thank you SO much again for all the extra feedback including visuals and drawing. I’m such a visual learner, it really helps to be able to See your feedback too.

A couple things for sure, I’m going to get this down with her, and it’s going to improve my rears with my other dogs! 😉

    Hi again.

Interesting, the outside temp is only 80 degrees. When I normally train, the temperature is higher, but the sun on us really makes a difference. In total, I only had her outside about 15 min, including a dip in the pool before we started and in between taping. I could tell as our 3 sessions went on she was less willing to bring the toy back and go again.
I think our working time is only 90 sec, allowing time to start, set, stop camera.

So. I need to take note of that.

Although, after this I brought all the girls out and played fetch. M had no problem going straight into that. But fetching doesn’t take many brain cells. 🤪

This seemed to go pretty well to me. Perhaps we’ll try Advanced after the sun goes down.

    Thank you!
    B
