Ok…. I just had a shock and awe session this morning!!!
Luke had a vet appointment to get his physical and vaccines. He was VERY well behaved in the waiting room. There was at first, just him, an absolutely terrified Caviler puppy and an old lab that just wanted nothing but to leave from the door he came in. So, I had Luke doing tricks, waving, nose touches, looking at me instead of the other dogs, etc. I had a rabbit pelt in my pocket. Pulled it out to see what he would do…..he straight away started tugging on it! Whooohooo! After a couple seconds, he lost interest, I put it back in my pocket. He watched. Another minute later, he walked over to my pocket and PULLED IT OUT to tug! I was amazed! I was so happy I didn’t know what to do other than just tug!
Unfortunately, then an off the wall lab came in and Luke was not sure what to do about this beast coming in the door so he backed up to me and started barking. That I’m sure did not help matters, thankfully, they called us in at that moment.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t sure about the vet looking in his mouth and started growling a bit, but, I’ve got a really nice guy for a vet. He just changed tactics and we got through everything.
After that, we went to Tractor Supply. Again, amazing! Couldn’t/wouldn’t tug there, but was walking very nicely on loose leash and was able to do some tricks. Greeting people and was just a very good boy! Very happy with today!

Got it. I will try working on that engagement.
We have always struggled with the tugging, especially when there’s “things” to do. I have started to take nights off of actually “training “ and more “ just play with mommy, tug or otherwise ( mostly trying tugging). That’s seemed to have helped sometimes, sometimes not so much. I’m not sure why some nights he’s very into it and other nights it’s like pulling teeth! But, at the same time, he wants to play, Ut isn’t sure with what. If that makes since? Most of the time when I post something, he has been pretty into the tugging. Obviously, you’ve finally seen what he does when he’s not. So, I’ll try what you’ve mentioned and see what I get. I know it’s going to take time, but sometimes I’m disappointed that for all the time spent trying to get him into me, that I’m somehow failing because I’m trying maybe too hard?

Wing wrap intermediate. Offering stage. I think I did ok with this. I think I stayed out of the way of the wing. I’m not sure though if I turned too much to reward?
I’ve been trying to practice a little more with the verbal. I think I’m getting too predictable of going back and forth. I’m trying to remember to vary it more so he doesn’t think that if we go one way, need to go back the other right away!

Ok, better engagement. But I think I was doing something wrong? It didn’t feel quite right?https://youtu.be/7IKI4BzMR4A

    Advanced foot targeting.
Our first attempt tonight. He checked out. We had just had a really good play session going, and I decided to try this. It wasn’t horrible, but I don’t think great.
Going to try again tonight in a little while

Upon thinking about it, when Luke couldn’t tug, I probably should have used my cookies to get him to pay more attention to me. Right? Because he was too focused on the tunnel and I needed to get him back to me. I pushed to quick?

Adding some verbal to the wing wrap. Used the actual wing this time. He’s got the concept pretty good, and now that I added the words to it, we need to add a bit of distance.

Our first try at pill bug.
This pretty much blew Luke’s mind! He couldn’t tug, and was very distracted. We had a really good tug session before I got the tunnel out and set it up, but I was a bit nervous about him not tugging with the tunnel there. I know he likes tunnels, but I think one in the living room was too much!😆
I think overall though, he rose to the occasion and did pretty good. I forgot a couple times and didn’t reward across my body. So, I think that I need to work on that a little.

    Send to foot touches.
I’ve been sick, so trying to catch up on a few of these. I think this went pretty well.

    Wingless wrap.
Luke really likes the new tug toy! Lol!
I still struggle with him tugging, although it doesn’t look like it in the videos, sometimes he’s still very “hot” or “cold”.
He was certainly hot tonight 😁

    Question.
I noticed in the videos for the wing wrap that you use both a post and a wing. I have both, however have just used a traffic cone and the post so far. Should I add the use of the wing right away? He has used the wing at Tina’s class as well as a seminar. I have not used it here at the house. Would it be then a “distraction “? Should I switch back and forth?

Unfortunately no video on this. But, did some ladder work yesterday for the first time. He didn’t even blink! No problem walking through the slats properly! After the first 2 passes through, elevated it,(just a little bit)again no problems. Then he started to just offer it on his own. As soon as he came to the end, he would turn around and go right back through 😃. I think he was enjoying himself as the last pass he was trotting. Even though it was only 2 minutes, he made it feel like a lot more because of him turning right back around to do it again. I also made sure I was walking on each side.

I must say that Luke knows a few tricks because I’ve taken a trick class with Tina. So, I hope you don’t think I’m cheating 😁
We’ve worked hard on what he does know, some things more than others. The “paw” , “wave” and “high 5” , he almost taught himself because he’s very into his feet. I’m sure you’ve noticed that a lot😆😆😆
