    Hind End Awareness

Georgie didn’t know where her rear feet resided. She found them while we were playing on the pods at the park. I don’t have video because I was too busy spotting here, but started the hind end awareness compilation video with a couple of photos. She was very proud that she learned to navigate the pods and didn’t want to stop.

Not shown in the video was the beginning of her backup behavior, throwing the food between my feet. We worked on that, then I started pushing into her a bit to get her to backup.

I’m glad she has found her rear feet! That should come in handy.

I’d like to bubble wrap her now, she’s freaking me out. I’m going to have to remove the patio chairs, she just climbed up the chairs, I assume on to the table and ended up on top of the covered fire pit. I scooped her off of that before she could even think about jumping off. This can happen in the time it takes for me to go to the kitchen and back.

Thanks! I wondered if there might be a change in adolescence, in which I shouldn’t take anything for granted. I’ve been surprised at how she bounces back from her little crashes and unfortunate events. Outside the scope of this course, I have to keep her from climbing onto the patio table, she has nabbed all sorts of things including my iPhone, twice.

Yeah, she really got me, that toy actually is a lot longer than it looks, I just need to not bunch it up. In the meantime, I need to wear gloves. I was also a little surprised she didn’t like that first toy, she’s getting picky! She loves food, so I also wondered if that was what she was after…..but I’m glad I gave her favorite toy a try.

I pulled out two fit bones last night, and the nubs on those didn’t bother her at all, they’re smaller, so she was all over that. She was oddly suspicious of stepping on the disc, I have no idea why, it was nubby side down. But it was losing air, so maybe if I put more air in it, it won’t be so smushy. Or maybe she’ll get used to smushy.

Thanks, again, your feedback is always very helpful.

So I didn’t really ease into the wobble board, because Georgie climbs on all sorts of stuff, some that moves, some that crashes, some that falls, and then she bounces right back. On Sunday she climbed the patio chairs and stood on the table. Very goat like. And as I expected, she was fine with wobble board movement.

I suppose I should go back to food to get a little more control on that board, but she was having a good time, so something for the next session?

Oh my gosh, that never occurred to me. I probably started the pods with my last dog when she was older, with tougher little feet. And yes, she really is a little smartie pants.

I’ll try the disk and pods, thanks!

Goat Tricks 2 – Paw Pods are Hard

Maybe I should probably get the disk out instead. She’s too big to put both paws on one, but maybe too small to get them on two. But I’ll keep working it.

Here is the Reader’s Digest version of the wrap practice. I didn’t show much video for the beginning stage to keep this short.

Looked at the first video, it was about 3 minutes. I was using food, but the little treats I have were hard for her to find, so I switched to the toy.

Oh good, glad I can reward “almost.” Seems fair. I like the idea of starting close, moving away, then coming back in. I’ll keep in mind the “bubble.”

Fun games, I’ve been working on the wrap exercise as well, video to come. I need to catch up.

    Thanks!

I probably went too long with this, I realized the camera wasn’t capturing me, so I changed the perspective. I did start at the beginning with rewarding her for interest in the prop, (not shown), then changed to a toy.

I’ll work the 2 toy game a bit, and see what happens. and I’ll work the decel with more distance and lower down. Sounds good, thanks!

Thanks! I do need to work on her bringing back the toy, I’ll try the two toy thing. I have tried that before, but she still drops the first toy a distance away, so…..

Here’s the decel video. I did practice the circles without the front cross before doing this try, I realized looking at the video I omitted that on this go-around.

She’s been getting into trouble in the yard today, so I’d better do some more games and get this little girl tired!
