My last post for CAMP, so sad. We had quite a few struggles with these package 5 JWW courses. I had to pick and choose what I went back and worked on (like the ending of course 1, I just left as is š ). My allergies have really taken their toll on me so I haven’t done any agility for a few weeks and am still not 100%.
Her default in so many places is to wrap rather than slice for a RC. I’m sure I’m not always in the greatest position, but I also feel like it’s just what she does??

While I got thru the opening on 1, i went back and worked it later. Iām not sure what the best way is for me to do it. I need to be so far ahead at 3 to get both backsides, but how do I get there?
So much of them went well. I āusedāTina as well. Thatās the stuff Iāve been trying to do more of. Layering and distance.First let me apologize, the spectators were supposed to be in the car but it was a down pour, very humid and thunder and lightning. So maybe turn the volume down and assume all verbals were perfect.
I feel like I have a better turning side for the inside threadle and so does she, they just don’t seem to be the same side which I guess is ok. We can even each other out.
The first couple short sequences went really well. I just need to figure out how to get her to turn the correct way on 7 where she needs to dig and I’ll do a spin and I’ll move up the line. I totally agree she’s turning the right way based on what I’m doing. I’m just not sure how to get her to turn left and me still keep moving to get up the line. Maybe let her turn to the right and I just do a blind and get up the line?

These are package 3 jww courses. First one really wasnāt bad then moved on to 2.
As you can see at the end, looking at the new window dressing was more entertaining, lol!!!It seemed like all our holes were uncovered in one course. Howād you do that?
I was stuck on 3-4 forever. Tried again last night then again tonight. How can it be so hard to get that jump 3 out if the tunnel. I thought maybe I should use dig instead of push since sheād coming at it that way and would help her know how to take it. I was always in her way, bar kept coming down then Iād tell GO for jump 4 and itād propel her off course.
Fast forward to getting her to turn out of the weaves correctly. She kept turning to her left and cutting back thru.
Fast forward to my inside turn mememe and we at least broke that down and got it. I didnāt include video. It was hard to see at that end. So Iāve got some pieces and parts that need helpšPackage 3 std courses – These looked harder on paper than they ended up being. Not that I aced them, lol.
I redid the DW a few times to work thru her stopping early before moving on to course 2.
The 2nd course was going so well till it wasnāt š¤£ then that dang frame out a tunnel. I was clearly telling her to climb early, but then driving home was wondering if GO would be better to she knows to drive out straight.Loved these. Unfortunately had limited time to work them. I had 1 issue on each one thatāll be pretty obviousš
The rest of the month is free from trials and seminars so weāll have lots of time to train. Need to work my ininin at a higher state of arousal, sheās not getting it at trials. Thatās my come take my side of the jump cue. So instead I stop dead and clap, lol!!!I like this weave skill drill. Just getting those hard side entries without me doing anything was rewarding (for both of us hopefully).
More course fun, did this weeks std course. I thought it went really well, esp the weave entrance. Not sure if my “right” helped keep her out of the tunnel there, but we’ll go with it. I needed a dig on 11 after the poles. We started at 8am and it was already getting hot and steamy so I didn’t want to redo anything else.
Probably the hardest part was the AF from the tunnel!! The hard stare got it done though.Last weekend was awesome. I think I have the best teammate š
We had a backside coming out of a tunnel in premier jww and I was determined to do it right!!! Dog side arm back and I did NOT hide the wing. It was lovely.
Her contacts have been so consistent. Sometimes I release too early (she’s in position) based on where I’m going next and she comes off at me rather than at the next obstacle, but I just need to get better at that. I’m still adjusting from being able to leave Reba on for 5 minutes while I regroup, LOL.
Start lines however and are constant struggle. I had slacked off on my home work (too much swimming) and it showed so back to the hard stuff at home like sitting while I throw a frisbee. She only broke once and I brought her back, but it’s a band aid and I know that. I also tend to release before I’d really like to so that she doesn’t break, but I don’t like that either. On the flip side we almost ran into an “IN” at jump #2 successfully in premier. I’m getting more creative with what I can do and relying on my verbals more and more. Interesting to see one of the games for this package was a behind the back start. I already have that move for when I throw her the frisbee and I picture her being around me and 10′ up the line before I take my first step.
We’re doing FEO for starts and contacts at each trial and I do believe that is helping her contacts
a ton.Ok on to the fun stuff, the JWW courses from the first package were super fun.
I seem to start out the same each time though. Underestimating how fast she’ll go up the line and overestimating where I’ll be. But she is listening really well. I’m so happy with how she is responding to my verbals.Now we all shift to FF for a full course š
I really like how these ran. It was interesting to see the different ways Donna and I handled some parts and how our dogs handled them. I didn’t want to repeat too much, we have the 3 day sotc trial this weekend so was happy our first go was fairly successful.
When Kris goes to camp and leaves the first skill set up, we take advantageš
She was getting hot so I didnāt want to do the last sequence again, but I needed to use my left verbal 4-5 and help her read that turn.
I did a few more serp/threadles.
It’s VERY clear one way she rocks serps and the other way she rocks threadles.
I definitely need to work on my handling consistency. For years I did a cross arm for serps and feel I’ve gotten away from it, but when I started teaching the threadle/INININ I also kept my body open facing the jump but I like the idea of the arm across the body for that one. I just have to remember it.I thought the little sequences went well though I’d like a better turn on her wraps which I know she’s capable of doing. Am I late?
I want to go back to the threadle/serp.
I would have never realized my feet were going in all sorts of different directions but obviously you and Josie did!!
Just to be clear, my feet shouldn’t rotate in either one? Are my body cues different at all between the 2? or will it end up just being verbal that tells her which?Good morning
I can never find the end date to submit videos, are we done?The trial went well. We had some good success and some good training opportunities. Her first FEO run was a broken start line and no stop on AF, ugh. We worked them both and both got rewarded. After that her contacts in STD were PERFECT until her DW at the end of her run on Sunday. She stopped just in the yellow and was frozen. We were done anyways so I called her off. Her 2nd FEO run was also perfect. I think if I could just run with a toy in all the classes….LOL!!
I think for now she needs an FEO run each day for AKC or I won’t run her in std. Next local UKI isn’t until June so I’m going to see if I can find some CPE.
I’m feeling better about her contacts now than I am about her start lines. All I have to do is twitch or look like I’m going to open my mouth and she’s like got it.
She only broke one other time and we went back. The rest she stayed, but not a stay I’m comfortable with cuz I know it’s not solid like it is at home. I don’t trust it and I don’t like that so we’ll keep ramping it up at home.One last thing, we need a much better GO at trials. She is much more handler focused in trials.
