    I did a few more serp/threadles.
It’s VERY clear one way she rocks serps and the other way she rocks threadles.
I definitely need to work on my handling consistency. For years I did a cross arm for serps and feel I’ve gotten away from it, but when I started teaching the threadle/INININ I also kept my body open facing the jump but I like the idea of the arm across the body for that one. I just have to remember it.

I thought the little sequences went well though I’d like a better turn on her wraps which I know she’s capable of doing. Am I late?

I want to go back to the threadle/serp.
I would have never realized my feet were going in all sorts of different directions but obviously you and Josie did!!
Just to be clear, my feet shouldn’t rotate in either one? Are my body cues different at all between the 2? or will it end up just being verbal that tells her which?

    Good morning
I can never find the end date to submit videos, are we done?

The trial went well. We had some good success and some good training opportunities. Her first FEO run was a broken start line and no stop on AF, ugh. We worked them both and both got rewarded. After that her contacts in STD were PERFECT until her DW at the end of her run on Sunday. She stopped just in the yellow and was frozen. We were done anyways so I called her off. Her 2nd FEO run was also perfect. I think if I could just run with a toy in all the classes….LOL!!
I think for now she needs an FEO run each day for AKC or I won’t run her in std. Next local UKI isn’t until June so I’m going to see if I can find some CPE.
I’m feeling better about her contacts now than I am about her start lines. All I have to do is twitch or look like I’m going to open my mouth and she’s like got it.
She only broke one other time and we went back. The rest she stayed, but not a stay I’m comfortable with cuz I know it’s not solid like it is at home. I don’t trust it and I don’t like that so we’ll keep ramping it up at home.

One last thing, we need a much better GO at trials. She is much more handler focused in trials.

Help!! We’ve done some threadle work, my verbal is INININ.
We aborted the first way, once I asked her to come in. I couldn’t get her back out to serp the jump. She’s just learning the soft turns so I think it just doesn’t have enough value and understanding?
Though when I switched to the other side, she had less trouble. I kept a lot of reps in so you could see.

    Good morning
UKI did not happen for us this weekend. We had a storm Saturday so they delayed the start till noon and they moved a couple classes to 7am Sunday. I was only entered Saturday. Meanwhile George was in the hospital having some gallbladder stones removed. I wasn’t sure I could mentally be where I needed to be to really accomplish what I wanted plus with restricted visiting hours at the hospital I wanted to spend time there when I could.
Next weekend is AKC so I’m thinking I could do some rewarded start lines with a toy in my FEO class. I can’t throw the toy, but I can release to tug?

I knew you’d say that about the backside cues, LOL. Do you feel it’s best to rename the wrap one?

Here’s some week 4 stuff. I skipped the backside in week 3 till I found my words 🙂
I noticed when she needed to do the soft turns, she would check in with me as she rounded the wing so I was throwing the reward to reinforce the line. Overall though I thought she did really well on this drill.
The serp/go was challenging, so many words! I had to really think through the left/right and right/left. I know my timing of saying them was off, but that was more of her default – to come in to me.

What are your thoughts on using the same backside verbal for wrap and slice? She’s had a couple years of hearing push to mean go to the backside. I’m not saying she’s not smart enough to get it, I’m wondering if I’m smart enough. It was a big move for me to start teaching soft turns and remembering which way left and right is from the dogs view, LOL!!

Just the thought of throwing the toy is giving me heart palpitations but thanks for all the ideas and info. I’ll use 2 toys😁 we’ll practice at class this week.

I did a few reps today. She’s totally getting the serp stuff, better I though she would.

We did just a few verbal reps and the first side went so well then I changed sides and not so much. I think my mechanics were much better though?

    Good morning
Yes please. Give me some ideas for working stays at the trial.
I can’t throw a toy back to her (I think you can throw a toy in UKI? but not sure what she’d do as far as running around) so I’m trying to come up with ways to reward her in place.

I think I did it again, years of saying “yes” is hard to undo. I promise I’m trying.
All of this week 3 stuff went really well until I started changing things up and she really had to listen. She gets patterned. It MUST be the backside right? Sometimes I reset, did a cookie, sometimes I just resent. Resetting definitely helps. How do I transition though to just listen to me the first time which is what I need in a trial, LOL!!
Speaking of trialing, I’m doing UKI this Saturday. Lots of training opportunities. I think we need to work on our “SIT” verbal the most though. She’s pushing it and I’m not giving in darn it.

This is kind of a hodge podge between more wrap work and soft turns. I’m still on week 1-2. I’ll be honest I thought her understanding of wrap – dig was stronger when there was something (a jump) near by. She struggled bad with that. I had to move the wing a distance away from the jump and even then there were still times she took it.
Also, what’s the best way to work go when you’ve been doing this close work. She’ll eventually go, but right off the bat she’s not going and just gets mad, LOL. Should I put motion in to make it easier?

I looked for a video of the RC/backside scenario and couldn’t find one. They are not scenarios where there could be a collision or she would need to cut me off. She’s typically already ahead and I wonder if she’s just not committed to the front side of the jump and I push on the diagonal and that’s all it takes to push her off. I have a feeling you may see it live in a few months LOL!

I think we can ramp up the soft turns more? I also threw in some wraps with some go’s. She was excited cuz her friends were there😄

Not related to wraps, but my biggest struggle with verbals is when I want to RC and she goes to the back side. I have been using a rear cross verbal switch. This does not mean anything if I’m pushing her off the RC line. She is more than happy to just swing around to the backside.
Speaking of backsides, I only have 1 verbal push. I do understand the importance of the wrap vs the slice, but not sure which to keep as push and trying to come up with something else that makes sense to me. I use back a lot with her backing up literally so don’t want to use it for agility.

in reply to: Christine and Aussie Josie #29745

I’m going to print this and put it in my agility bag. This is exactly what I needed to help me plan. I understand what you’re saying.
I really like the option about running with exposed toy in FEO till she’s solid and then hiding it till she’s solid. I’ll make it more training like initially and help her be right.

Thank you for this well timed class. I only wish it could continue when I can start trialing again 🙂
Merry Christmas Tracy and thanks for all the great training advice again in 2021.

What’s next on AU? I feel like an AU junky, can’t wait for my next fix, LOL!!!

in reply to: Christine and Aussie Josie #29726

UKI trials are slim around here. I thought a new nearby facility would be a good option, but unfortunately the footing is iffy.
So can you help me with an AKC plan?
When I can do FEO with a toy. Should I release from the contact to the toy or stay closer to her and have a long toy with me and toss her end to her with a “catch”? Both?
The runs that I can’t do FEO, I can still “train”. I have no problems leaving early for good behavior if I’m making it clear to her that’s what’s happening. Could I use some remote reinforcement? SHe gets her AF and we leave to her cheese? Or when I’m comfortable that her leash is a reward I could release and run to the leash?
I also want a plan for if she doesn’t stop. I’m feeling pretty good about her contacts right now and I have a seminar coming up. Even though it’s home, she still gets rev’d up for them. So I can practice what I need to do. I think part of my stress is not knowing exactly what I should do if she comes off. I’ve been putting her back on but it seemed to just make her higher. As you can tell, she justs wants to run. I have SO much confidence in the JWW ring, I need that in STD too.

in reply to: Christine and Aussie Josie #29636

I pre-placed her lotus ball on the window sill before I brought her in so her first attempt she did not know it was there. She did know I put it out for the 2nd AF.

We played a hodge podge of games today. She has done the majority of these at some point though I’ve never proofed the weaves with that fav toy hanging down and it made her even faster and more focused to get to the end.
When you were doing your leash work, are you telling him to go to his leash at the end of his run or do you just run over with them, put it on and then ask for tug?
I had taught Ti the “leash” cue so that at the end of his run it gave him something more to focus on. If I said leash he would start looking around for it.

I want to keep working the leash and will start doing that in class. I need to do more trial like things in class. This course has really shown me that.
What else do you think I should focus on?
I’m not entered in any trials until February and can do some FEO runs at that trial.

    Loved seeing Exie 🙂

Things are getting back to normal and while I haven’t had a chance to read week 4 yet this is what my contact proofing normally is. I’d say she is in trial mode. Turn your volume down😜
Next time I’ll do some remote rewards.
