<You might have noticed that on a couple of reps she kept turning even with the toy placed straight past the 3rd jump. She was actually correct at :09/:56 and :31/:40 where you were saying turn turn turn and swing swing and she kept turning, ignoring the toy… the toy placement would require her to NOT turn on that last jump, so I loved that she continued to turn because the verbals said to keep turning.

So, to be sure we reinforce her for continuing to turn: either place the toy so that she keeps turning to get it (it will be right in front of you) or have it in your hands.>

That’s a really good point I didn’t even think about. She really was listening! I will do that on the next session.

Here’s our Swing (right) and Turn (left) verbals with the Minny Pinny.

So, this went well LOL. Or not. Here is finding the jump. There was a lot of failure during this but I was trying to figure out what I could do to help her. I changed where the jump was, changed the angle of the tunnel exit, had less speed into the tunnel, out her toy in front the jump, etc. We did finally get it at the end when I put the jump directly in front of the tunnel where she could NOT miss it. The last few reps where she did get it, I didn’t toss the toy purposely because she was going so fast I didn’t want her to tumble going after it.

Here is the pill bug exercise. I honestly put this one off because I thought it was going to be pretty hard for me. I added a Wing wrap instead of a food throw so my timing could be better and I also cheated at the beginning and started off with blind crosses because I wasn’t sure my timing would be fast enough. However, I did try a few without that and I did keep my connection better.

Here is a compilation of all the tunnel exit sequences that we have worked on the past couple of days. I keep forgetting to use my correct reward words.

It’s always the thing you forget when you get a puppy – how much crap you have to manage at once LOL. I even tried to make it better by wearing at treat bag which I never do. I probably need to implement it a lot more to get the hang of it better.

She is about 10.5 months old. She’ll be 11 months on the 4th of October. For the second jump, I had it at 6 inches. You think I should still move it up?

We also did a second session on the wrap proofing. The only things I tried to cut out during the session was rewarding so you could see the majority. I left it a little longer since I won’t be doing another session of the smiley face game. I hopefully incorporated all your feedback. I did catch myself saying oops but changed it to “try again” with a cookie reset. She had a few tunnel grabs but I think that was me placing in her in a poor position with the tunnel right in her face. Overall I felt like this was a much better session. I even was able to move the wing quite close to the tunnel for her left wing wraps which were the hardest for her in the first session.

Here’s the set point with a moving toy.

<Move the MM another 8 feet past jump 2, so she has to stride out to it rather than decelerate to it.>.

So I measured this out and the MM is 9 feet from the second jump. So I should add another 8 feet on top of that? So total of 17ft past second jump?

For the soft turn verbals, I do want them but I have a really hard time remembering all those lol.

<First, 2 reinforcement detail: it sounds like you were using a “get it” marker for the toy in your hand here and also for a thrown/placed toy out ahead>

Sadly I do have a “chase” marker word but didn’t use it. I don’t have one for a placed toy yet though.

<And in handling, try not to move the toy back and forth between hands – it changes her focal point and delays your cus. So you can leave it in one hand or put it in a pocket if you are changing hands without realizing it>

I might actually be subconsciously switching it between hands depending on what side she is on trying to keep it on the side opposite of her. I didn’t know I switched hands. Good to know lol.

Here is our first try at the set point exercise too:

And here’s the smiley face game. We also did this game over a couple sessions. I think we did most of the ones you had in the video and then made up a few of our own. Here’s our words:

Wing wrap to the left: dig
Wing wrap to the right: check
    Soft turn to left: turn
    Soft turn to right: swing

Not sure if I’ll use soft turn verbals during jumping or not but I would like to have them for the dogwalk for sure.

Here is the Wind in Your Hair game. We did a couple of different sessions over a few days. We increased distance and during one of the sessions I realized I didn’t reward her separately for leaving her toy alone so we practiced that on the last session.
