ParticipantAnd just a quickie of the continuation of RC mat work from MaxPup1…
We transitioned off the raised mat and then to a narrower mat – and also to a longer mat because her legs got so much longer!
This mat is 16” wide and 42” long.
I’m planning to stay doing this a while longer and then during the break we might try to take it out into the yard where she can get up a little more speed.
No hurry though; we only do mat work a couple times a week, and I try to keep a session under 3 minutes.
Let me know what you think!Susan Fraser
ParticipantHere is the Accordion Grid that Miss Prē was SO tired for at the end of her private Live Thursday nite – LOL!
She did a serious adjust to get the BOUNCE at 11’, but then she settled in nicely to add a stride at 14’
Good girly!Susan Fraser
ParticipantAnd last video of me ‘n Pry in Amy’s yard alone…
Jumping grid with moving toy – too far apart at 6’ but good (I think?) at 5’.I assume as she grows and gets more muscled and coordinated this spacing will change?

ParticipantAbout the last feedback:
Annalise is quite an awesome handler with Potter! He’s a very experienced dog, but working with Prytania is so hard because she is totally naive, working in situations where *everything* is new. Plus Prytania stresses DOWN, not up (a first for me!), pretty much the opposite of Promise! She’s also I admit very much a momma’s dog…So the last few days Amy and family took a trip and I stayed at their house with the dogs, which gave me and Prytania a chance to work in Amy’s yard, just the two of us, so that she could deal with a few less challenges at one time. I want to keep attitude and success level high, so I appreciate the feedback to just keep going. Noted.
That said, having tried a rear cross with me at home, Prytania had quite a bit of trouble taking the jump when I put pressure on her line – sensitive girlie wanted to ‘give’ to me and flare around the jump, hence the double wings. (I also have trouble with it, haha!) So we practiced some ‘find the jump’ and ‘wind in your hair’ instead.
We had gotten to red light already on rear crosses, so instead of just giving up, I backchained from the lead change to the jump (that’s where this video starts) and then put it together.
It’s not perfect for either of us, but the concept is there I hope for Amy or Annalise to take it from here.(And oh yeah, Amy is after me to be sure to cue “strike” to bite the tug in my hand too!)

ParticipantThis is Diamond Take 3. During the Live with Annalise, Prytania was engaged and you emphasized rewarding her even when she wasn’t technically 100% correct. Spot on!!
But a few days later when they tried it again, Prytania had motivation issues and disengaged frequently. (Amy has some video I think) Amy and I brainstormed, deciding it was asking too much of them both, Prytania in a different yard full of distractions (OMG CHICKENS!!) with a different handler, all while they were *both* trying to learn new skills. Prytania specifically had trouble when Annalise had a toy in her hand, and would pull inside the wing or cut behind her to the toy in the opposite hand.
In order to avoid both of them getting discouraged I wanted to work with Prytania, in her own yard, getting the concept of taking the outside of the wing, and also ignoring toy-in-hand to continue on with a sequence. I wanted to be aware of avoiding disengagement with the loop of {sending to the sequence, toss/tug, “stealing” the toy, sending to another sequence}.
I really wanted to avoid failure (she was already at flashing red light failure on this exercise) so I built the mechanics of taking the wings one at a time with placement of a toy toss. I started her going to the left since she’s mostly a lefty. Check! She then generalized it to a right circuit of the Diamond nicely. So I went on and pushed incorporate blinds wraps and tunnels too.

ParticipantPrytania – Beginning the Ladder Grid
She was pouncey over the last jump at first but got better, and that last rep I think was pretty good.
Do you think this spacing is OK?Susan Fraser
ParticipantAmy mentioned that Prytania’s retrieve is coming along, so here’s proof 😉. This is the evolution from the flyball foundation toss inside into a corner with no distractions, thru outside under the shed but tossed away from the big yard, all the way to bringing to hand different toys tossed out to where she used to run away with the toy.
I use a little extra “transfer of value” with a food reward, but I am making sure she can still tug after getting cookies.
We’ll find out in a little while if this is transferring at all to Amy’s yard, and I haven’t even tried it with a “dead” toy – but no worries if not. That’ll just be the next steps, along with fading out the cookies.
But at least the neighbors over here think she is a “Retriever” 😂

ParticipantI can’t let Annalise and Amy have *all* the fun! (Especially if da momma can stand still, haha!) So I did a little Zig Zag with Prytania and wow she caught on really quick!!
Susan Fraser
ParticipantRAWR!! 😁 Yes, that’s her favorite game, with all her big adult teefs but a velvet soft touch. Gitchi rarely plays bitey face with her but she loves it so!
Such an anomaly her always turning right here because she’s a confirmed lefty on most everything else, especially wraps! 🤷🏻♀️

ParticipantAll of these proved to be pretty challenging for her. I think adolescent brain might be beginning to manifest 😂

ParticipantOops, those 3 changed to unlisted.
And to clarify, the cue to tug-something-in-my-hand can morph, like tuggawuggawugga puppaduppaduppa yappawuckaducka woobietuggawhuppa – and sometimes ouchyouchawowza! 😂(And btw, you’re a feedback beast!)

ParticipantSorry to dump this all at once but I wanted to have it in one place for reference…
Don’t feel like you have to rush feedback! These are the behaviors that we have named and are using the cues:
InInIn (Threadle Slice wk 8) Annalise & Prytania
BackBackBack (backside slice wk 8) Annalise & Prytania
HereHereHere (tunnel threadle foundation) Me & Prytania
Touch (serp foundation) Annalise & Prytania
GOGOGOGO (forward in extension) restrained recalls Annalise & Prytania
LeftLeftLeft and RightRightRight Annalise and Prytania
We also have named “Get Out” “Check” “Dig” “Sit” “Break” “BeepBeep” “WaHoo!” (remote reward) and markers “Yes” “Get It” “Catch” “Tuggawugga”

ParticipantPrytania and I will be in Mizzip for All The Things – we can do the Thursday nite Live class LIVE, and then the Friday puppy seminar! Unfortunately Annalise will have to miss those to go to school instead.
And I’ll be at UKI to cheer and work on Sunday! FUN!!!Susan Fraser
ParticipantAnnalise & Prytania making the Get out look easy! (I think we need less of a flick on the cue hand so we’ll work on that)
