ParticipantBeginning Start Line Stays!
So… we have pesky doors, gates, xpens and crates etc around here that WILL NOT open unless all dog butts are on the ground, LOL!
So Miss Prytt has had *months* (2) of working on her start line stays, with the reward being to skedaddle thru said pesky barrier, LOL!
I’ll start to transition this to barrier-less stays, and <gasp> try to incorporate the marker “Catch” to let Prytania know to remain where she is, because the reward is being throw back to her (but she can leave a control position to get it) 😉She already learned praise marker “good!” on this behavior to mark a moment without necessarily presenting a primary reinforcement
Now the dilemma is that I have used the marker “Break!” to mean that she can break her sit and go thru the door, which is the primary reward because she really really loves to go outside. BUT I love your meaning ‘leave your position and drive towards me’ – SO now to decide if I use a different marker for doors gates and crates (free?) and save Break! for driving forward to me or to an appropriate obstacle….
What’chya think?Susan Fraser
ParticipantBalance in Motion: Ladders
(“Ladder” = PVC Practigates resting on notched swim noodles stuck thru soccer disc cones)
Clumsy at first but she started getting the hang of it pretty quickly. My favorite spot is at :26 where she sez “Back n forth is boring mom! Imma go to the end!” LOLSusan Fraser
ParticipantBalance In Motion: Leg Bumps
I’m thrilled to see that she (sometimes) gets these long legs (that totally grew omg like 4” overnight!) coordinated to single-foot thru these! 🥳Susan Fraser

ParticipantThe first snippet is just a restrained recall to a *running* Annalise – we did a few of these to increase the value for the Turn & Burn (or the Turn & Hobble, as it had been introduced by the momma 😛)
Then here’s Prytania & Annalise on Strike a Pose!

Participant“I am going to ask Amy if she wants me to add her to the class, so she and Annalise can see the videos and read the feedback about Annalise’s brilliance 🙂”
Thanks. Having Annalise as Prytt’s pre-designated Junior handler is a big reason I took the plunge to get a puppy, because my joint mobility and health is as yet an unresolved issue. But I’ here to tell ya that puppy breath sure is a great antidepressant!!

ParticipantAnnalise came over to work today and Prytty really responded so well to her! (After we worked they ran and played together, so cute!) 😁

Warning, expect frightening human growling! May not be suitable for sensitive viewers prone to hysterics. 🤭

ParticipantParallel Path Lines, Countermotion, Rear Crosses:
I was checking my timing with slo mo of my countermotion so I left those clips in. (Because if I can’t get it while walking, well duh!)
On the first rears, obviously she has no idea so the spin is expected. Should I be jogging? I wanted to try to show up on her other side quickly enough to avoid the spin but maybe I need to chill and just walk it and let her figure it out?I gotta say: doing all this on a foot target instead of a jump or a wing is genius!!

ParticipantHind End Awareness: Backing Up 2
Looking at the video, I’m thinking I ought to get the reward treat down under her chest before she looks up at me, although that might be more like luring? Also, markers. <sigh> I’m an old dog trying to learn new trick. I try but “yesss” comes out as unplanned as a fart. So maybe if we take them one at a time… what would be appropriate here? I’m delivering the treat to her in position but dropping it to keep her head down instead of delivering it to her mouth. 🤷🏻♀️
(Not promising that even if I know what I should say I won’t say yes at the weight shift but I can try.)Susan Fraser
ParticipantA couple “retrieves” here before some backing up videos. Miss Prytt prefers to take her toy and go the other way after she gets to it. No worries; so did her Auntie Vou and Grammie Gitchi. We’ll work with 2 toys (or balls!) going back and forth plus tons of reinforcement for recalls and it’ll all be good.
The backing up though is precious!Susan Fraser
ParticipantWe’ve been playing more than video-ing, and WAY more than uploading, bad momma! But brilliant baby goat LOL!
Goat Games 1, 2, & 3

ParticipantWe got a head-start on Goat Games before the class began by starting to shape 4-feet-in-a-box, so she offers feet in/on right away.
Here we go with 2 new things, and of course some tugging before and after.Susan Fraser
ParticipantAnnalise and Amy (and Terri and Blond!e) came over – we did a lot! Here’s the blind crosses:

ParticipantSorry to post again today but Prytania took me on a Resilience Walk; thought you could use a little comic relief. 😂 “Agency” had to be a tad limited by me not having a machete to hack my way behind her into the woods, and also by being me being the only one able to READ THE SIGN 😳
She’s a bold one, and so most of our walks I’m just kinda hanging on and trying to keep up. And laughing. I think you get the picture early on here.
But this is a place she has never been and I was curious what her reaction to first view of the lake would be – but I didn’t expect zoomies! Glad I had her securely on a long line or I’m pretty sure she would have gone in. She did seem to have a moment of reflection though when I read her the sign. LOL! -
