ParticipantThanks for the handling suggestions. In trials I do mainly blinds and will drive to the tunnels, then wait until just before he exits (so he doesn’t see me standing still) and drive away. Often there is not really enough room for me to be really moving in a sequence. I can easily get too far ahead of him. He also has great distance so I would hate to have to basically run to every obstacle with him.
Normal training is usually short sequences. I just wanted to get more of a full course videoed for the review. I’ve often divided his meal in 3rds and done 7-8 obstacles for each portion and called it quits on that. I also don’t work him very often because, other than speed, he has all the skills I think he needs.
Not quite clear on the “reward stations”.
What I am really looking for are ways to make him enjoy agility more so he is more happy and has some actual drive. Any more training suggestions?
Thanks,

ParticipantHere is my video for review. I’ve only worked through Week 4 exercises, but have read the rest. (You may notice a W4 exercise embedded in the sequence I run.)
Tyson is 8 yo, has competed to a C-ATCH in CPE, in Masters level for USDAA. We don’t do USDAA anymore because he would stop at the 20″ jumps. He jumps veteran 16″ in CPE. He is very temperature sensitive (won’t run in hot weather), doesn’t work for toys (occasional bone chewing in the house, rarely picks up a toy, never a ball). Very food centric. He is the quintessential dog that speeds up at the end of the course. Trial runs are rewarded with food outside of the ring. I’ve had jumpers runs where he was running (not trotting) through the course and did not make time.
My planned course was to do the tunnel after the panel jumps, not the A-Frame. Unclear and late handling on my part. We also usually do a running A-Frame, but he gave me such a nice 2o2o, that I rewarded him. Aside from that, what are your impressions and suggestions to improve his speed?
Thanks,
Christy-

ParticipantYour description is fine for me, but others watching the video would benefit from a close up.

ParticipantPlaying some catch-up on the videos. In Week 5, you show your warm-up routine. What exactly are you doing with the toes and wrists?
