ParticipantOmg! Total blonde moment. Here is the weaves video!

ParticipantHere is our session from a few nights ago. He was very amped up this night as well and it was hot out! I wasn’t able to add much motion without errors so I dialed that back again. At this point should I remove the manner minder- I know we talked about that a few posts ago but since I also had some environmental things going on I wasn’t totally sure .
This session was much longer- I edited out the dead time with frisbee chasing and tugging. We had a rep where he missed a few times but when I watched the video I realized that it was poor mechanics and I wasn’t clear. I didn’t include that either since it seemed obvious to me what the issue was. I also saw that I need to be mindful of which hand the frisbee is in as he tried to snatch it before a weave pole entry 😂. And thank you for the tip of what to do when I accidentally click the manner minder! That makes total sense.
I’m not sure which one you’ll read first (this or teeter) but chapters surgery got postponed. Good thing is I can keep working on weaves!

ParticipantHi! Here’s our session from a few days ago. I made sure the wings entries weren’t also angled (whoops). I also stayed next to him to try to get a better end position. Duration seems to be an issue for him on the end position so my thought was to keep working on this with the plank in addition to this game. Let me know if that makes sense to do.
Turns out Chapter didn’t have his surgery Friday afterall. My vet wanted to postpone it since his liver levels were slightly elevated. Mentally I was ready for the post op recovery so we took the weekend off of training so I could regroup. Good news is we can keep working in these classes! Better to be safe than sorry though so I’m glad we erred on the side of caution.
Back to training!

ParticipantOkay- good to know about the speed. I’m terrified of having a slow teeter- which is something I struggled with Maddy- but she was also my first agility dog and I had no idea what I was doing!
We added the wing tonight after warming up with regular elevator, then crazy elevator with no wing. Those went well. When I added the wing the end position deteriorated a bit. He was also super amped this session from all the dogs that were walking by the house and these darn geese then kept doing low fly bys over the yard! But he didn’t seem to care about the motion of the teeter. I’m planning on doing lots of end position work post surgery since it’s low impact- hopefully that will help. I think I need to do this same set up again to get better end position – what do you think?

ParticipantThat all makes sense. I did another session tonight and tried to add more running. He was wired tonight! When the weather gets hot everyone walks their dogs at dusk- which is when we were training and it’s very distracting for him when they walk by our back wall. He even got the zoomies from the excitement of the walkers. He’s turned that all into an all out running reinforcement thing. So fun for me when I want to train (insert sarcasm). Before I had him try a rep after running around I did a bunch of simple tricks for a ‘can you work’ check in. He actually was focused for longer than it felt in the session but I did not run as much as I wanted to because that proved to be too much with the added distractions. Oddly enough there was a wedding yesterday evening at our neighbors and it was loud and people cheering and he worked through that. So hopefully we’re getting there with the focus. When I felt the session going to crap I took a break and took him inside and when we went back to train we started with the teeter first. He did seem more focused after the break but he was also showing me his brain was fried so we kept it super short.
Let me know what you think!

ParticipantTonight we did crazy elevator after a few normal elevator warm ups that went well. Chapter seemed a bit confused as to what we were doing but he seemed to get it fairly quickly. I was proud of him for his target ( I used a very big target 😂). Let me know what you think. His speed isn’t as fast as before but is that just because this is new and it’s putting together lots of parts?
Jennifer Clemons
ParticipantMonday night we did find em with no lineups! This went well. I was surprised how fast he was but also able to get the entries. I was even able to add some running at the end. The few mistakes we had were handling errors on my part- I think that happened twice maybe and I’m not sure if I edited it out since it was so obvious it was me. Let me know what you think!

ParticipantHere is our session of the elevator game. I tried to remember not to raise the board as I dropped it. Chapter wasn’t using the target so I pulled it but in hindsight I may have needed a bigger target because his end position wasn’t the best on some of these reps. I also wasn’t aware of how high I lifted the board- whoops- although he didn’t seem to mind the drop I wonder if that was a reason for our end position.
I ended up doing a quick session of just end position on the end of the teeter and trying to clean up the mechanics and end position. Hopefully this wasn’t a horrible idea!
I’m so tried not to piss off the training gods this time!

ParticipantI did a plank session with better mechanics this time. Instead of trying to do a yes and then break I did a get it cue which is his eat a treat of the ground marker. So I started by counting to 2 and seeing if he would hold the position and then cued get it which meant he could leave position since that’s how I use it in other contexts. I think this was much clearer for him but I can see now from the video I am still deceling a little even though it didn’t feel that way in the session.
I also did a session of end game from downhill to ground. I posted some reps below. I used the new marker and mechanics and I think he got it. We also had the distraction of our other dog nearby and my husband moving around the other yard. Overall this session felt like it went well. I also used the small target and he didn’t seem to care at all about that.
Since we are getting near the end of the course and Chapter will be out of training for about ten days give or take starting next Friday- what should I focus on?
Jennifer Clemons
ParticipantWhoops!! Guess I should have double check that. Here is the session of the harder entries.
Last night I did the find em game with the wings. This went pretty well. He had good speed and was able to collect. I started standing and then was able to move to running at the end. I was also happy he was seeking out the first poles as well.

ParticipantHi-
I did sessions and one was just the 2×2 off side with one set and the other was 2×2 poles at 1 and 7 with more motion.
On the 2×2 I added the frisbee. The first rep was a bit too much motion for him but after that I slowly added the motion and was able to get to running by the end. I think this went well overall.
I also did a session of 2×2 at 1 and 7 with more motion than before. This also seemed to go well and chapter was Abe to get the entries with ten extra motion. Let me know if i need to do this again with more motion and more threads or if we are ready to tighten the poles.
I can’t remember which video it was when you said we should add the weave verbal- are we there yet or do the poles need to be closer?
Jennifer Clemons
ParticipantI did more elevator and fading the target. On the target fading I did several reps where i had the little
Target and then got rid of it. I’m still struggling with chapter staying in position while I move forward and then release. Ideally the cookie throw is a yes and then break is a release. I’m not sure that’s clear for him on all the rep s. But the no target seemed fine.We also did more elevator game with
more height and a frisbee on the ground nearby. I also had issues when I tried to move forward with Chapter not seeming to understand on some reps that he needs to stay. I also think he was looking for treats on a few of them that may have been a distraction. This session didn’t feel great.Jennifer Clemons
ParticipantThanks on the music! The kids and I were listening earlier and I figured why not!
I did a session of channels Sunday night and another session of off side one set of 2x2s last night. I tried really hard to add more motion on both.
For the channels I did a lot of frisbee tugging and short tosses between reps. I edited some of that out. Overall this session went well . I think he had one fail and that was due to my poor management of setting him up more than anything I think. He handled the running well and I think he is really understanding the sequence of reward now.
The session of the solo 2×2 went well too. I tried doing some threadle entries and had a fail for the first one but I think I was too ambitious on where we started on the clock. Next session I’m going to add the frisbee. He is really seeking out the pole to wrap now which is awesome.

ParticipantHere is what we have been up to the past few days. These were from Sunday and Monday. We took a break tonight for nosework.
I did another session of fading the target and I cut the black lid down twice during this session. You can’t really see the target in the grass but the session ended with the target about the size of a tennis ball circumference- maybe slightly smaller. Overall Chapter didn’t seem to mind the smaller target. I tried really hard to keep moving and get my mechanics right- I think that was better for most reps.
Sunday afternoon I did the elevator game. This session was challenging because it was in the middle of the day, my son was on the other side of the yard practicing golfing and it was windy. I tried to keep the game simple since there were so many distractions. Not the best session but he was able to work which is an improvement from a few months ago.
Lastly we did the downhill track to the ground Monday night. I started with the bang game review (I didn’t include that video) and that went well with forward motion so we put the two together. I think he did well for his first time. I also kept the motion minimal and no frisbee this time. I was super proud of him on the one rep where he looks up because there were people walking on the street which is a huge distraction for him. Normally he would have jumped off and sprinted to the other side of the yard and barked- he definitely controlled that impulse here. Big win!
Let me know what you think!
Jennifer Clemons
ParticipantThat totally makes sense. So basically when I do the channels or 2×2 so I just skip the entries where I’m reworking them but I can advance with the other entries??
I did do a session with one 2×2 angles at like 1 and 7ish. He did pretty well. I kept it really simple at first with no motion and no frisbee. Then I slowly added walking and the last rep I jogged. Question – should I start moving right after I send him or do I wait for the commitment to the first pole?
I think the next session I’ll add the frisbee back in and do more running and then I’ll try the manners minder in between the first and second set like you suggested. The idea of adding all the crazy from the start is new for me but it totally makes sense to build it in from the beginning.
