ParticipantBarb, thank you for the phone conference offer. That is well above and beyond the scope of the class. Sadly, I have a previous engagement for later this evening so unable to take you up on the offer. But it is very much appreciated.
Yes, I see the behavior chain: miss the entry, come jump up at me, go back and be correct and get rewarded. Strut has been raised to accept failure, as indicated by lack of reward, then try again on his own to figure it out. I wanted to see if that would sort it out for him. It did not :(. So, my assumption is, if he misses the second entry, stop him, take him back to the beginning and restart.
I also did face the second set of poles on one send, which I am betting is the loosey goosey set up ( LOL . Again I wanted to see if that was HIS missing link. It wasn’t.
The video angle makes it look like I was further away than I actually was. I was about 2 1/2 – 3 feet away.
Something is missing on just that one side entry. As you see, he is nailing the off side entry at 100% but the onside is just not clicking. If both entries were faulty, I would think it was more something I was doing.
If the auditors are following this thread, they are certainly get to see errors, both from the dog and handler. Happy to help! Ha Ha Ha.

ParticipantOK, Barb. We will go back and begin again…if it ever stops raining.
Yes, I have known Kathy McHugh for YEARS and YEARS way back before agility was a “thing”. LOL She currently trials in my area as well.

ParticipantGood morning, Barb. Thanks for your reply.
is there a reason that your one foot is always ahead of the other when you set up your position.
Yes. Strut is EXTREMELY foot oriented. I can not think of anytime I would be approaching the weaves that I would not have my dog side foot facing the first pole entry, so decided to put that in place from the beginning.
I am also seeing that your set up for the second set is not always consistent. Sometimes he is sitting.
Yes, the sometimes sitting was my mis interpretation of the written directions when you mentioned that you reset your dog before starting. I read it as meaning you were sitting him/her in front of the second set of poles to reorient. Then I realized it was the one sit stay she/he broke that you had reset not the second entry. I left that footage in because I also hoped it might help him to reorient to the second set of poles because we have been struggling for awhile. It didn’t help!
sometimes you are moving before Strut is committed to the weaves. Your body motion is the main cue for him so he moves with that without finding the weaves.
I recognized that, also, when reviewing the video. Thanks
Think of the second set of poles as just another “first” set. Be consistent with both your body and Struts.
Now, if I am facing the first pole on the first set, then treating the second set of poles as just another entry, am I not supposed to pivot to face that second set as Strut approaches? I do think that is throwing him off, as mentioned above, but not sure what to do about it.
And don’t be in a hurry. I like to make sure there is accuracy at every level before I start going for speed.
Honestly, I am not asking for speed!! This is Strut in everything he does. He only knows one speed……full out…..which does make it more difficult for me to get the timing and cues correct for him.
My Master Level sheltie is just as fast, but he is totally obstacle focused while Strut is totally Handler focused and I am working very hard to even that out. But for now, it is NOT an even playing field.

ParticipantHi Barb,
I videoed today and trying to get it uploaded as I write.
Thanks,

ParticipantWell, after the first video I posted, Strut has hit the wall at Week 2 with 4 straight together poles. So we have stepped back to try to work through this before posting again :(. He was nailing the positions around the clock on 2 poles, but has found 4 poles make no sense….to him. So at the moment…we are stuck at Week 2.

ParticipantHum, could not open the video link.

ParticipantThe Week 2 Lesson is up!
Thanks

ParticipantLinda, I wrote to Jeremy about the Avatar and seems it is generated by a website called Gravatar. The picture then follows you wherever you go, online. So, somewhere along the way, you must have set that up and if you are like me, you have NO idea when or where that happened. LOL!

ParticipantThanks, Barb. Will certainly be sending videos. Today was day two and better than day 1 but we will be needing eyes on!
Strut’s “big brother” is my 8 1/2 year old Master level sheltie named Bounce.

ParticipantDonna, glad you brought this up as I was about to ask. I have always used a Yes marker for my previous dogs.
