ParticipantPattern #2. GOOD boy!

ParticipantMy balance of timing on the FC is tricksy, he’s so quick to pull off. Sometimes it looks to me like he’s committing, but he pulls off easily if he thinks I’m pulling him off, good smart boy, handler needs some work. He’s such a joy to work with but respectful of my space, my other BC was not. The engagement games were SO FUN! I love it when he watches me for indicators. And now at home, he watches me, like “a game could start” any minute.
The sit was MUCH harder for him on the Volume Up game, but his hand touches were GREAT, he really pushed nice and hard. The sit was so much harder for him, but definitely keep it separate. He was SO HAPPY! AWESOME game, you are SO GREAT at this, REALLY appreciate all your help, you see so much more than I do!
Prior to this, I’d been working on lots of lead outs with him and driving away from me. So with other exercises. I’d reward the crap out of just between 1 and 2 for driving away from me. He started to really understand it. But I tend to reward lots of very little pieces….. I’ll start the FC’s sooner, see what he does and reward the crap out of the successes.
Yeahhhhh, talking more and timely is an art. Sometimes the get in seems to work better than tunnel tunnel tunnel. But that might just be in my head. OH yeah, I see the head turn on that, I’ll switch to tunnel, you’re right, I bet the check in goes away and it’s much clearer to him. He puts up with so much from me……. I thought I was being too chatty, but I see that it actually makes it clearer to him! THANK you! You’re da best!debi
ParticipantTaking it outside takes it to a whole new level, he stays with me, but he checks in sometimes and I think I talk too much…….

ParticipantEngaging and WATCHING my dawg this time
NEW obstacle out of place
CRANK UP the volume! THAT was fun!
First four obstacles, warts and all!
Getting our feet wet outside!
WHAT a blast!

ParticipantAhhhh, yeah that makes total sense about checking for the reconnect. It even felt early on some of those. I’ll take it outside too, but make sure it’s a place where he can find the cookies. I have an idea for the new object. Will see how reactive he is to it….. THANKS!
debi
ParticipantHe didn’t seem to worried about the object I chose, should I switch it up?
debi
ParticipantOH boy, that makes total sense to me……. The opposite arm DID seriously slow him down, I’m hoping we get some clear weather and we can take it outside. I’ll definitely do dog side arm, that has to be so much better! Thank you! Drive carefully, don’t forget to take breaks while driving, be safe……

ParticipantWingin’it he’s tunnel, no tunnel

ParticipantTHEN I tend to start too late because of him following me on my too soon movement. SOMEDAY I will learn the dance steps

ParticipantYOU have a serious road trip ahead of you! THANK YOU so much for all the pointers here, I’ll revisit these in a bigger area too. AND watch my timing on the FCs etc yeah I need to learn a balance of when to start them, you’re right, with his commitment I should be able to start them earlier than I am.
Yeah, he’s not at the loving the plank stage yet, but at least he’s not as frightened of it or a bit of movement with it. It’s a work in progress for sure!
I tried adding more space to the threadles and Tandums, but I think his little brain was fried by then. He kept diving for the shade……. And we’d done a lot of work by then, he was done.
Watching his commitment is hard for me sometimes, I tend to pull too soon and Bless his little heart. He does with me! Sure love 💕 our dawgs
