ParticipantGood Morning!
First, I want to thank you SO much! This class has been super wonderful, and I have learned more than I could have imagined. Synnie is already able to do things that my old girl can’t do! We can’t wait to see the next classes that are offered.
We went back to the two jump “serp” skill, and I tried to make the bars wider but closer. Not sure that my fuzzy little brain did that correctly, but I was happy with the results. I think Synnie got the one bounce nicely.
We also worked on the forced fronts from the other side. Setting her up to slice is definitely the key! I don’t think I did that properly yesterday.

ParticipantGood Morning!
We started with force fronts today, but before we could move on to the more advanced, we started with what we had already practiced. And for some reason, that didn’t go as well today, so we stayed with working those. Not sure what I was doing differently that made her go forward today. We also worked on Yes Tunnel No Tunnel again. I think we (I!) got the flow down a bit more, but I’m not sure why she kept going behind me on the far side (when I was picking her up on the right hand). She didn’t go in the tunnel and ultimately did the right thing but went behind me a couple of times instead of in front of me with the hand.

ParticipantGood Morning!
I apologize for the intermittent posting…I came home from PA with Shingles and was not prepared for that! Not a fun thing! 🙂
Today Synnie and I worked on the forced front and the yes tunnel, no tunnel game. I can definitely see when I don’t make connection for the tunnel (I left a blooper in the video). I also see that, just like regular start line stays, I’m waiting too long to move once I see her commitment to the backside (guess I just love watching her too much!! 🙂 ).

ParticipantGood Morning!
Zig Zags: We flattened the jumps a bit more and moved the reward further away. We will flatten even more tomorrow.
Lap, Tandems: I tried to get further from the wing for a tighter turn and we added some tunnel threadles also.
Since we only have a week left, I’ll probably move forward to Weeks 8 and 9 and try a little bit of everything before the end of class!

ParticipantGood Morning!
Here are our first attempts at zig zags and the tandem/lap drills. I’m very happy with Synnie with both of these skills. Tomorrow we will readjust the angles for the zig zags and work on the tunnel threadle skills. Also, I forgot two start line videos I wanted to send you for different angles of start lines. Question: Should I be leaving a bit earlier after I release her? They both worked but I felt like we were just a tad off.

ParticipantGood evening!
We are back in NC so hopefully will get started again soon with the drills.
We (meaning I) didn’t have a lot of time/energy to do skills and such while we were up in PA due to our schedule and the schedule at BVTC. Anyway, here are some snippets of stuff we did work on…start line stays and threadles. The AKC trial this week was a master/excellent only trial, so we did premier to get our threadle practice.

ParticipantStill struggling but we keep practicing!

Serps: https://youtu.be/C-jtmddgVZ8Hopefully, we will get to work on some of the week 7 exercises this week!
Can you suggest the next class I should take with Synnie after this one?
Thanks!

ParticipantGood Afternoon!
Here are our newest Two Wings and Serpentine videos. I left the Two Wings video “whole” so that you could see our (read, my) bloopers. We seems to be getting the wrap motion better, but now it seems I’m not making connection correctly.
The serps are going okay, but we do struggle a bit getting the second jump before the tunnel. We tend to fly by that jump and go from jump 1 to the tunnel.
Wings Video: https://youtu.be/qKF7AVkSzYQ
Serp Video: https://youtu.be/FoABnwj8c0UThen Wednesday morning, we worked on the Wingin It Tunnels. I thought Synnie did great on these, although I’m still not convinced that she knows her rights and lefts as verbals on their own. We will keep working on that.

ParticipantGood Morning!
I believe we are getting a little closer to our goals with the 2 Wings (first video)!
The last 3 videos are progressions with the serp concept transfer games. I was very happy that she worked through those because our neighbors came out and were talking and turned on their sprinklers, and Synnie had some moments of “what was that; not sure if I can do anything” but then just went back to work.

Video 4: https://youtu.be/yYCG2yrR08oWe are going to do as much work as possible this week, and then we are off to PA from 7/30 to 8/13. We are staying in the RV at Bella Vista Training Center this time, so we can spend time with mom AND do agility stuff. Not sure how much renting we can get done (lots of stuff going on), but there is a CPE trial, so we will probably enter FEO and see what we can set up from the courses provided. That being said, we probably will get a bit behind over those two weeks.
Thanks!!

ParticipantGood Afternoon!
I think this video shows where frustration from yesterday led us to today. (I left the whole video so you could see everything.) She didn’t really want to play with the first wing, which has been our trouble spot, and then she took the toy but didn’t retrieve as she normally does. She seemed to do better when I went and did the rest of the exercise, where she is more confident. Not sure if we should just walk away from the exercise for a bit or try to work through it?

ParticipantThanks!
I’m such a “fix it and get it right” person! I hear what you are saying about just going on. I WILL work on that! Definitely were my handling errors. I spent too much time watching her and not trusting her commitment and then I couldn’t get where I needed to be.We worked the two wing exercise this morning (as it started to rain). We are really struggling with this. I’ve started with dropping the toy at the beginning of each session and taking most of the motion out of it (not sure if this is a good idea or not). Should I stay at this point or go back to the 4 wings exercise? She is starting to grab at the toy, which I assume is from frustration of not enough reinforcement.

ParticipantGood Morning!
We spent the weekend trialing at the FIF ASCA trial! So, no new video for the wings (we took this morning off). However, I did run Synnie FEO this weekend. I thought she did wonderful…now I have to get my act together with handling and timing!

ParticipantGood Morning!
Our next attempt at Two Wings! I started with dropping the toy a few times to get her started. I think I did better at not backing up and looking where I want her to go. However, we still can’t add a lot of speed to the exercise.
On a side note, I need to go back to PA for a few days, so I’m leaving this afternoon and I’ll be back Thursday afternoon. Hopefully, we will have more for you on Friday morning.

ParticipantGood evening!
Here is a video of Synnie doing the two wing exercise for one side with both ends of the tunnel. We had a bit of a problem with full commitment and dropped a toy a couple of times to keep things rolling. I think I am taking a step back to try to help her commit, which I’m guessing needs to be eliminated.

ParticipantThanks again for the reminder about my arm. ALWAYS too high!
I have the MaxPup 2 class as a self-study, but when we entered this class, I kinda pushed it aside. Silly me thinking I could do two classes at once (plus work the weave course)!! We will go back and review the left and right cues and work on those.Question about the Countermotion exercises from Week 3. When you are doing the rear cross, are you using the wrap command or just a rear command. For example, my rear cross/turn away from me cue is “Switch” if it is over a jump (as here) or “Flip” if it is a rear on the flat. Is that what I should be using for this exercise or should I be using my wrap cue (whichever it is) for the wrap away from me?
I hope to have video of these exercises for you on Sunday, and then we will work on the wing exercises for week 4.
Thanks!
