Ha! I think I made smoke come out of her ears today. The boards are wet and muddy outside, so I tried using her backup mat to start and then adding the board. The hamster almost fell off its wheel in her head, but let me know what you think. I ran out of cheese, so grabbed the can of peanut butter at the end, lol.

Also, thank you so much for all the very helpful and thorough feedback!! When it’s not wet outside, we will get back to our cones!

Thanks! Here is where we picked up this morning.

And here is some cone work from yesterday afternoon where I added distance and did some wraps for the first time

Well, I tried removing the pillow and the wobble board became a little too intimidating. So I kept making the height a little less, but she mostly reverted to turning around. By the end of this session, I was trying to reward any reaching back with her rear legs….https://youtu.be/5wtB-603bIE?si=1WpuqyXRoz7gXacU

    Thanks!!
We took a break from that today to enjoy some lovely sun for a change! We just started doing two cones but she took to it beautifully, so we threw in a little tunnel fun too!

Happy new year!! I’ll be here at home, still in my PJs, 😆.

Ok, so we did a few refresher sessions with the wobble board, then I propped it on a pillow so we could get a little angle. She was confused at first, but I think we made good progress in these couple of quick sessions!

Ok, I promise we have done SOME training these last few weeks, I’ve just been bad about filming, lol. I hope you had a great holiday! Between that and the weather, I’ve been distracted and unmotivated, lol. However, we have made some big improvements when I tried the back up this morning! What should be out next step with this? Will the verbal help her generalize so we don’t always need the mat?

    Thanks!

Well, between being out of town and the weather, last week got away from me, lol. Here is some week four stuff!

First of all, I’m wearing reindeer Christmas PJs pants. You will see a variety this holiday season 😜
Also, I tried to be more slow and deliberate and worked her challenging side on the turn and burn:

Then you can see smoke coming out of my ears as I try to remember what hand should be holding and doing what as we worked on blinds/collection and then sends in the last couple reps. I tried it with my older dogs first, otherwise it would have been even messier with her, 😆

I think I’ll use “check” as our cue. Here is another go at it from this morning. I tried to use the ready aspect too:

And I tried to remove a board doing the backup, but she still seemed a little confused, so I added it back at the end. She was definitely reaching back with a rear foot to find the mat! It’s just about one or two steps is all I can get at this point 🙂

We had time for one game this morning. I accidentally did her “harder” side first, but we figured it out and then her last rep on her preferred side was awesome!

I hope you ate too much food today like I did!

Awe, how exciting!! The Fools litter (Nadja’s group) is just a smidge older than the Fonts litter. Same dad, different mom 🙂 All adorable!
Thanks for the feedback again. Actually, the mat is still there, you just can’t see it with the boards there.

Thanks for all the thoughts and thorough feedback! I think we had some real progress this morning! And a session with the cone from yesterday where she made good choices:)

So, we tried again today. I probably still had my hands too high, but I was sitting, so tell me what you think. Please excuse my dirty feet, I was out barefoot in the yard right before this, lol. She was still skewing sideways a bit, so I tried introducing the broad jump channel the second session.

Yes!! Super helpful, thank you! I used a foam floor mat. We did a couple of quick sessions with a play break in between. Let me know what you think 🤔
