ParticipantThis weekends trials where a mixed bag. However, I could tell a difference in my mental state each day and how that had a big influence on the outcome of the day. On Friday we did great and double Q’d. I went in feeling confident and it made our day. On Sunday it was tough getting to the trial in the rain and the 90 minute drive really stressed me out. So I arrived a bit flustered. Couldn’t seem to shake this. So I am working on something that I can do; meditate, sit quietly and recite some positive affirmations, listen to some motivating music. Wish I had thought of this prior to the trial. I think I will call this my Getting my grove back toolbox. However, I did learn from my mistakes today and have added some new things to my practice list. The mistakes today where all mine. I didn’t cue my dog soon enough. I did learn that we still run faster on dirt, but we ran faster on the turf this weekend than we have in the past. I sprayed my dogs feet with water and I really didn’t push her since the turf was new and I didn’t want her to slip. Something new that we experienced today was having the weave poles as the second obstacle. The tire Jump to weave poles seemed to cause my dog to have trouble collecting enough to get into the weaves. I think it is a good thing that the trials I have been to lately are providing us with new and different challenges. For every challenge I am able to be successful at I will become more a confident handler!! My personal mantra for this weeks practice sessions!

ParticipantTracy,
The pre-trial routine actually makes things less stressful. I hate getting rushed in the morning so knowing I have a plan really helps me to not over think or worry in the morning so I can just get on our way!!
