ParticipantIt sure is different running a larger and faster dog! I like the brake arms. I only got in two of the live warm ups before he looked too hot.
What caused the dropped bar on the second pass in the second video?

ParticipantI haven’t done many threadles, but I have used the cue “in”.
In sequence 3, is jump 3 a backside wrap, or is a backside wrap when you completely circle the wing?Eileen Ewins
ParticipantThe cues I have are right, left, lalala (take jump and wrap left), 2 2 2 (take jump and wrap right), GoOn or go, around (backside), out tunnel (take side away from me), pull-it tunnel (cross in front of me to take tunnel), easy (slow down for weave entry), target (stop 2-on at end of dog walk and teeter.
I’m still having problems with keeping the bar up on jump 2.
I think I must have forgotten the sequence when I did passes one and 2 of seq 3. Good news is I think he kept the bar up when he wrapped the wrong way.

ParticipantHere is our work from this morning. On the third pass, I tried to put in a blind without walking it that way. Fail of course. I watched the demo video again when I got back in the house and saw that was your suggestion. Oh well. It would have been better if I had walked it that way.

ParticipantI finally got to try the threadle with a tunnel. I also did this week’s customs. I thought he was learning the verbal for backside, but it looks like I need to work that more.
Thank you so much for this camp. It was awesome, and exactly what I needed at the perfect time.

Participant“ So the only really hard part on course 2 was that darned discrimination – that is a matter of being like Goldilocks and knowing which cue is too hot (the first run) and too cold (come come scramble) and just right 🙂 ”
So funny, but so true.I ran all three courses today, beginning with course 3.
On course 2, I was revisiting the Goldilocks discrimination. Today I messed up on getting 16, but didn’t rerun the whole thing because I was so happy to get the A-frame on the first try.
On course 1, I was hoping to smooth out the 11, 12, 13 line.

ParticipantI ran courses 1 and 2 today. I thought they were going to be easy for us, ha ha. The hardest was the tunnel discrimination in course 2.

ParticipantI ran the sequences again today. On sequence 1, I wrapped #2 to the right on Friday because it is a couple of feet shorter and it gave a straight line to the mouth of the tunnel. Today, I wrapped to the left, which was much easier for both of us and was faster. We ended up running the whole course 2 seconds faster today.
On sequence 2, I tried to push to 4 sooner. I ended up running this one faster too.
On sequence 3, I set him on a more severe slice to 2 today. I wasn’t sure if he could handle such a sangle, but he had no problem. I sliced to the left on 7 this time, which was much easier for me than the rear cross to the right. It was farther and I didn’t get as close as I should have to the line, so it took about the same amount of time.

ParticipantI ran the sequences today. I realized I was trying harder to run clear than to run fast. That could be a difficult habit to break.

Participant“ Someday I hope to see you both at a trial again!!“
I hope so too.“ I can’t speak for Foxy, but if Kramer is anything like his brother, then life is ALL about the food food food.”
Kramer has little use for a ball and will only tug for a short time with a special toy. He will run to or chase a treat hugger or tug with a food pocket, but he stays with it and waits for me to go to him to get it. He likes his food. Here is today’s video.

ParticipantCourse 3 was a reminder that I need to work on crosses before and after weaves so I will be more confident doing them, and also leaving him at the teeter.
Thanks for the reminder to handle aggressively.
“ … convergence on the exit of slice lines when we have to push the dogs into a gap. That was a big thing for everyone this week, so it is in the Week 5 package that is coming tomorrow”
I’m looking forward to more work on slices this week.
George videos all my runs at trials, so this class is like a trial substitute for him. He is usually back at the RV or on his way from the RV when I am walking at a trial though.
I tried the transitions again, but this time doing some with the manners minder. I think it confirmed my suspicion that he would prefer his ball. In the second clip, where he looked away from the mm, he was looking to Where his ball was in my bag.
On the other hand, both Kramer and Foxy did great with the manners minder. Neither George nor I remember when Kramer ever ran a sequence that fast, except when he was zooming around the ring. His weave poles were fabulous and fast.
Do you bring the mm remote with you when you go in the ring?

ParticipantWe did course 3 today:
We also worked on the trial transition exercises:

ParticipantThanks for the videos. I left his ball in my training bag for the runs today and got it out after each run ended. He knew where it was. I’m still not sure how I can reward him with a ball at an AKC show.
It takes me a while to remember a course, so I usually walk it a lot.
This course seems to be a lot more difficult than I am currently used to. For the ending part, I got really confused about how I wanted to do it.

Participant“ do you have a Manners Minder? ”
I have two Manners Minders that I used when I was teaching him weaves. The mask felt hot at first, but I forgot about it while I was running. There have been trials in Florida since the first week in June, but I stayed home. The latest report of the judge in TX who tested positive 10 days before a trial means I probably won’t be running in a mask any time soon.
Yesterday, we spent some time working skills with the bars on the ground. My video guy held the IPad up but forgot to press the video on button. Oh well, not much to see anyway.
Here is course 1 from today:

Participant“I award you the title of Most Awesome Blind Crosser“
Wow! Thanks! That is something I never expected. Before I forget – you mentioned that at some point you would help me to figure out how to keep him motivated at a trial, when I can’t run with his ball in my hand. I do mostly AKC, though now that Ivan is getting faster, I will do some live UKI trials with him.
Lots of failures today.
Sequence 1 – I ran over 5 minutes before I finished my walk and didn’t know what to do, so I just stopped the walk.
Sequence 2 – I walked faster and finished the walk early. I should have kept walking. Threadles, oh my. I might have been able to get a blind in here instead, but I need to conquer threadles.
Sequence 3 – backside slice is something else I still need to conquer. I had trouble deciding whether to slice both 9 and 10 or to wrap 9 and take 10 straight on. On finally decided that it was easier to get the line with the wrap.
