ParticipantI do think it was the snuffle mat. It broke it up enough that he didn’t get frustrated.
I will fix the find my face by reinforcing differently.
We had class tonight and he was AMAZING. He was very enthusiastic. My instructor was super happy about how he worked and said he seemed more focused! I showed her my weave video with the snuffle mat and she told me to bring it to class and we can work with it there too.

ParticipantAnd here is our “find my face” pattern game! 🙂
Jennifer Royce
ParticipantHere is today’s weave training. He got zooming because he had a stick stuck to his fur…. he hates that. And he did have a bit of a sniffing episode where the mat had been but there really may have been a treat there.
This was one of the BEST weave sessions we’ve had. I can usually get about 3 weave reps before he checks out.
Jennifer Royce
ParticipantWe’ve started find my face today but didn’t record it.
I will bring the snuffle mat out tomorrow for our weave pole training. He gets a little stressed after a few repetitions so I’ll see if that can reset his working brain! ðŸ§

ParticipantI recorded him on the cot with the blanket and he was just as goofy as without the cot. Unfortunately the camera angle was off so its not a good video.
But here he is with a snuffle mat. https://youtu.be/0noVqKGejDo
Jennifer Royce
ParticipantSometimes he’s lying with his front end off the mat, so when I put it on the mat, he gets up to get it. Would a raised cot be better? I have one that I use with Wynn and he knows it pretty well.
Jennifer Royce
ParticipantI’ve been pretty busy and stressed with work so haven’t gotten beyond the relax on a mat exercise but we have worked on it daily.
He’s starting to lie down, but sometimes I’m getting vocalizations if I’m not fast enough with the treats. None in this video other than some snorts and huffing at me.
Jennifer Royce
ParticipantMine gets super psyched up when I bring out the relaxing blanket and treats. 🤣

ParticipantHere is a video from the trial. I wasn’t clear on the rear cross and he kind of disengaged and worried a tiny bit, and his running Aframe was a TAD higher than I liked (and I didn’t know how to react to that after he did the final obstacle and couldn’t go back and re-do it), but he looked super happy for most of it. Didn’t get the leashing up part on video at the end but he did it just fine. 🙂
Again that leash caught in his fur! But he was ok with it this time!

ParticipantHis cue for putting the leash on is “Face!” Like put your face in here.
we practice that a lot. I’ll get video of that tomorrow. We did 4 runs at a trial yesterday and he put his face in every time. 😀
Here is one from over the summer when I was working with someone about the leashing up thing. He didn’t like the one leash but the handle part was hanging over the hole, so it was understandable.

ParticipantHere is Fid’s second session of relaxation. I did not get video of the first but there was a LOT of digging and scratching at the blanket. This time there was less but at the end of this I did find a stink bug so maybe that’s what he was looking for!
I tried to quietly cue Wynn to lie back down when she got up in the background and that was the first time he actually lay down… it wasn’t directed at him though!

ParticipantDogs run naked in NADAC. CPE just changed that they can have a collar. The one he wears for the ring is a quick release that SHOULD just let go, but for some reason it got tangled that one run. He hates me leaning over him to unclip something and hates things going off over his head. But he will put his head in a slip loop. So this has a quick release latch collar on one end and a slip lead on the other. I actually had it custom made for Wynn when she was weird about the same thing!
Also in NADAC, the leash runner hands you your leash. You can ask for it to be on the ground or carry it in a pocket with you. He’s never had an issue with a leash runner though, but it is a weird NADAC thing! Lol

ParticipantVideo 1: https://youtu.be/TOXYh_BQk4Y
The leash pulled and caught in his fur and he got up and trotted away (avoidance behavior).
About 3.5 – 4 seconds before he returned and sat.
Severity – maybe a 1 or 2. It was brief and in NADAC there’s never more than one dog off leash at a time.Video 2: https://youtu.be/UWKDXV06-N8
From class last night. We only practice the teeter in class. NADAC has no teeter so we won’t see it in competition for a while, so i haven’t put a lot of emphasis on it. He did fly off of it 2 weeks ago (not the full height – from about half way) and has been a little worried about it since. Here he got to the tip point and turned around to get off, then turned again to finish it. (Afterwards we put his target mat on the end and he did it without hesitating.)
About 3 seconds
Severity- I call it a 1 because it’s still a skill we’re really working on, but it did slip back a little after the flyoff a few weeks ago.Edit Video #3: https://youtu.be/XUCZctuzLpQ
NADAC trial in July. He was not interested in the toy/stressed by the attempt to engage in play and wandered off. Disengaged at the end and wandered off briefly. He knows the leash runner very well (my best friend) so wasn’t worried about her.
1st wander about 7 seconds. Second wander about 3 seconds.
Intensity – maybe a 2 or 3 because he does get weird when I try to play but he’s too stressed for it.-

ParticipantI can’t raise my hand during the chat because I am on a chromebook (edit – I figured it out for next time), but you mentioned digestive issues. He was having big issues with constipation during the summer and have recently switched his diet and he’s so much more comfortable now.

ParticipantLol now I’m wicked worried that you’re wondering about his physical soundness. I have a long sad history of dogs with agility careers cut short.
