Thank you! Could the dog see the tucked toy? Did they know it was there and could be dropped at any time? Or, was it a surprise reward for the heeling?

Well, it was kind of hard to do tug as a reward in obedience class, but before class I warmed her up with some heeling and tugging as a reward. Coincidence or not, but I had better focus from her tonight. And I was able to use it after exercises when we were heeling then waiting in line for our next turn. I tugged with her after she heeled then as well. Heeling is so hard for a dog with her drive and energy, I think the tug is a perfect reward for it!

Thanks Tracy! My pup is Mayhem. As I watched the litter grow up at the breeder’s, I knew the ‘purple girl’ was the wild one. Guess which one they chose for me! 🙂 This was their ‘M’ litter. So, Mayhem fit in multiple ways. I brought her home at 8 weeks and immediately made her work for every morsel of food. By 4 months old she had her novice, intermediate and advanced tricks titles. We attend a competition puppy class, but that centers more around obedience. I’ve also introduced her to barn hunt practice. I went through all of the exercises sent yesterday. We’ve done most of it, but I still found things to add to what I’ve already started! Yay! I plan to try and reward her more with a tug toy in class in lieu of treats tonight. I know Edward all too well. I helped Bonnie record his videos for class and have run him through a few courses. It’s not easy!!!! 🙂
