ParticipantDrive To Handler
I like this game! I do similar when I say “Risk, that’ll do!” for herding skills down the road 😀
So I don’t think I bring my hand down too early when he drives to me… but would love your opinion if you think I need to delay the hand down to side part.
Otherwise, am I turning too slow or fast? I want to try adding in the front cross, but haven’t done the footwork mechanics sans puppy yet… probably will work on that over the weekend and submit a video or two.Holly Wang
ParticipantWing Wrap Foundations: A Series
The following games are posted in a series of 3 videos because I was debating toy vs. food reward, and then upon deciding food reward, think I may have progressed him too quickly when adding in the cone to shape the wrap. Would love to get your feedback on whether I’m rushing with the addition of the cone after your watch…Wing Wrap Foundations Attempt 1 with Toy Reward
So I tried this with a toy (we did a food bowl the first LIVE class) and there’s significant delay in him releasing toy 1 to go for toy 2. I think that for the purpose of ensuring he understands going back & forth and to focus less on teaching the quick release of a dead toy to the live toy, I’ll actually work on doing food bowls for this shaping game in particular. I do think that as he gets older and begins to understand the switch from dead to live toy and is quicker, I may work on using toys as a reward. But to help his baby brain, probably food in a bowl will help make the shaping of the back & forth motion easier and less complex.Wing Wrap Foundations Attempt 1 with Food Reward
Using food made all the things Risk had to think about and the mechanics much cleaner. I like what I’m seeing from him and his understanding of the game is much clearer. He definitely turns from bowl A to look at bowl B, but I’m not convinced that he’s totally committing to bowl B, which is why I drop the cookie in the bowl once he looks at it. Should I continue to do this slowly until he is more driven from Bowl A to Bowl B before adding in the cone? See next video to see why I ask if I’m going too fast…Wing Wrap Foundations Attempt 2 with Food Reward
So I do think I was too quick to add in the cone for the wrap foundation… what do you think?Sorry for the 3-part video post. I hope it makes sense & can totally clip and edit it all into one video next time for ease of posting, etc. I am really loving all of your feedback and trying to read your replies multiple times to let it sink in before I return to the game to apply changes, etc.

ParticipantPregame 2 Attempt 2: Nose to Target
I used a toy to reward again this time. And it definitely went against my instinct to move the target AWAY from him as opposed to TOWARDS him.
Is this any better? Always open to your critique!Holly Wang
ParticipantPregame 1 Attempt 2: Prop Value
So I flattened the hat (turns out the cardboard keeping the front part stiff was still in it HA) & Risk was much more keen to step ON the prop! I did switch to toy rewards for this second attempt at the game and kept the repetitions shorter (or I think I did) and it seems to have gone much better.
Feedback? Should I be less “exciting” and “loud” when he does the foot to prop thing? Am I too exciting???PS – please excuse my outfit… I was slightly inspired by watching your Goat Tricks video from 2018 in your jammies 😛

ParticipantReally interesting re: food is less interesting than toy.
I can see it in these videos, but then there are times where he won’t play with me at all because he knows there is a bowl full of food on a table somewhere. He’s certainly a piggie and inhales his food, but I wonder if he isn’t as interested in the food if he doesn’t feel like he has to really work for it? OR maybe he doesn’t feel like working for the kibble vs a more high value treat (dehydrated treats, etc)?
More videos to come and I will definitely pay attention to his toy vs. food motivation over the upcoming weeks.Holly Wang
ParticipantDrive Ahead/Focus Forward
Any tips for continuing what we’re doing? Should I move forward/advance?
Second session of this game since the LIVE class last night.Unrelated Question – Should I post only one video and then wait for feedback before posting the next video of a different game? Or can I post multiple videos of different games if within the same week of homework? Don’t want to overwhelm you!

ParticipantPregame 2: Nose to Target
Ok… not going to lie… this one is harder for Risk and me. He doesn’t seem to have any interest in touching his nose to the target. He will do nose touches to my palm directly a few times and also loses interest quickly. Do I need to be more exciting? Or… should I only do 3-4 reps each session to keep it short, sweet, and interesting?Holly Wang
ParticipantPregame 1: Prop Value
I am marking when he shows interest… having some trouble getting a full front foot hit on the prop… he did figure out to put his front foot on the target but is now lying down on the prop.Advice to get him more excited or actually get the foot to touch the prop?
Should I use my body and run towards the prop to help him?-
