Question: on the sends n serps exercise: handler stays in motion not stationary like class one Strike a Pose?

Also how do you recommend handling it if I am using a placed toy instead of MM, and puppy gets the toy by running past the bar instead of over it? I don’t want to demotivate him and likely he took the toy because I didn’t cue clearly or he wasn’t ready for the exercise,

He actually did well turning to the right. On the left he was like a different dog! I had to go back to the Max 1 strike a pose game for a few times then he got it better on the left. My body position also was not as good on the left so I have to work on that before I do it with him.

I will share video of the right side…I will show you left after I clean up my act….lol!

On the big plus side: he more or less brought the toy back every time with minimal running around..sometimes straight back and sometimes with a little play then back to me! yay for that!

Question on the wk 2 minny pinny exercise: is this for soft or tight directional cue?
I use right and left for soft turns, and seek(cik) and tap for tight wrap.
Robbie knows right and left from doing flat work spins although often it is just a 50/50 if he gets it right and starts offering either direction!

wrap/tunnel: ok yes I see what you mean about multi wraps slowing him down. So many classes emphasize multi wraps and I never understood why. I will go back to rewarding single wraps and try to keep him more excited.

he is a thinker but also a hard worker, but not intense or easily over aroused (except when we go to trials like this weekend and he can barely contain himself walking around the rings…but when we got to the practice jumps near one of the rings he was all business and eager to run and play with me even with dogs running nearby).

    Smiley Face game week one..

Sorry for so many posts at once…had the time tnite to edit and post the vids from last week.

He has done some sequencing so I just went to the more advanced steps…but wasn’t super happy with some turns being wide at first. I think having the cone plus wings was a little confusing at first?Im not too worried…he turns tighter and digs in more when he’s at higher arousal than in this video.

Wing wrap tunnel discrimination, week one

Took getting right distance and reminding him of his turn cues but he did figure it out. will keep building on this.

Ok just repeated the exercise…It is hard to throw earlier! By the time I see his commitment (which is pretty much as soon as he comes around the wing) I am running forward and he catches me pretty quickly while I am starting the throw…but I did get it out one stride before take off on a few tries…I see what you mean about his head coming up if I don’t throw the toy asap.

so just to be clear is throwing the toy to increase their arousal versus having a toy on the ground they can drive independently to? because I definitely don’t want him to be in the habit of watching me for his reward delivery.

    Ok cool will do.

Also. what do you think of the spacing ? I can go to my bigger field and have more space between the jump and the cone and space to throw, but my surface there is a little compact right now so I’m trying to do less there and more at home on the lawn (and soon to be bark/chips section just past the new lawn)

Yes all that makes sense and I will try again with the suggestions above.
I was trying not to throw too soon so that it wasn’t just a lure but O guess at this stage some “lure” is ok?

    Wind in Hair take 2

Sorry I cut off the toy landing after the jump…but I think you can see how he is driving the line before I throw.

Robbie Wind in My Hair Game

I went straight to advanced because we have done this kind of game before.

Question on tunnel turns week 2:

My go on cue means run in extension and take obstacles on the line in front of you, eg, last 3 jumps on a course or anywhere I want the dog running in extension. In your example Contraband ran out of the tunnel with the Go cue was asked for a tight left turn.

I understand you are distinguishing left/right/straight exits just not sure that will confuse my cue for Go On. Suggestions?

Do you have a resource I can look at to work on more body awareness and stability?
