    Yes I always play when I get him back and let him win etc.
    Small spaces going great but transitioning to outdoors more of a challenge especially since I am doing a lot of chase games at farther distances with toy on ground or throwing toy ahead of me when he catches up to me after a restrained recall type of game..

    And sends to dead toy through tunnels and jump wings etc…

    I will try putting a line on the toy so at least I can get him back earlier!

    When I use a ball …he actually retrieves more consistently because he has learned that game from the rest of the pack. (yes I am careful with ball play..but it does get them running hard! )

    what do you do when you are using a toy but the puppy takes victory laps instead of retrieve? Lure back with 2nd toy? what if that fails?

    My pup is pretty good but not perfect now that he is 7 months but occasionally (and usually when working in bigger outside areas) he still has a little too much toy pride and joy to bring it back right away. Inside in smaller areas he is like 98%.

    I never chase him and eventually he does return to me for the 2nd toy to switch out or for food.
